Making a universal joint

  • Drilling. The operation is carried out with a drill or on a machine. The accuracy of the holes is checked with a caliper, as well as a stud or bolt, inserting them into the landing place. As the material for this you can take a pipe (50 mm), which will be 5 mm thick. The mouldboard can be made by using a gas torch. First a template must be cut, then the final part must be sharpened on an anvil and then on the sharpening machine.

It should be taken into account that the dimensions of couplings depend largely on the models of power tillers, for which they are designed. Universal connecting knots are perfectly suitable for “Neva”, “MTZ”, “Salut”, “Farmer”, “Champion” and other power tillers. For example, a universal hitch “Russia” has dimensions 320×120 mm, weight 4.17 kg, suitable for power tillers “Salyut”, “Agat”, “Celina MB-501”, “Ugra”. Coupling unit for the new Agros power tillers has dimensions of 430x120x130 mm with the weight of 3.8 kg. The dimensions of the coupling device for models “Favorit”, “ZID”. 490h135h250 mm with a mass of about 7 kg.

For Chinese and European-made power tillers, you must carefully select the coupling device or make it by your own hands, as their dimensional standards are slightly different from the Russian and Belorussian units. True, if you buy a single-axle tractor from an official dealer, couplings often come with the power tiller unit.
