How to cut a brick wall. How to trim brick by hand

A regular hacksaw or brick saw will not work. It will quickly become dull, and it will take too much time for each stone. Therefore, if you just need to reduce the size of the brick along a straight mowing line, use the splitting method.

For splitting, choose bricks without cracks and other visible defects. On them, with the help of a square, markings are applied along all the edges, and with the help of a sharp tool, a groove is made on one of them.

Then they turn the brick with a furrow down, take it in the left hand so that the greater half is in it, and with a sharp and strong blow of a pickaxe on the markings, they split it.

In this case, the tool should be strictly perpendicular to the brick surface. When struck at an angle, the chip is uneven. The same happens when the master holds the brick by the smaller half or in the place of the split.

Note. This method is suitable for well-fired bricks. If it is not of the best quality, 5 mm deep grooves will have to be made on all edges.
