Greenworks 12 A 20-in Corded Electric Lawn Mower. Greenworks 20 inch mower

Greenworks 48V 20-inch Cordless Push Lawn Mower Review

Greenworks was formerly the norm to use gas-powered lawn mowers with pull-start motors that required as much effort to get started as internal combustion. In today’s world, there are more possibilities than ever before. There are a few things to think about before purchasing an electric lawn mower if you’re not familiar with them. Electric mowers provide a number of advantages, but they also have a few drawbacks that you should be aware of.

When looking for a new lawn mower, self-propulsion may be one of the characteristics you’re considering. Alternatively, The problem is, you’re not sure whether Greenworks a need or a frivolity. Self-propelled lawn mowers have both advantages and disadvantages that I’ll go over in this post so you can decide whether you want to invest in one or if Greenworks’s just an expensive add-on that doesn’t make much of a difference to your mowing experience. Lawn mowers make your life easier.

Why is a Reel Mower Necessary for Your Garden?

Because they are so common, rotary mowers are what most of us image when we think of mowing the grass. There are no engines in reel mowers, although there are in rotary mowers. In the 19th century, Edwin Budding invented a device that uses rotating blades to rake grass. The machine is not self-propelled; instead, Greenworks are driven by humans.

Despite Greenworks dated design, reel mowers have many uses. Reel mowers are preferred by environmentalists over gas-powered rotary mowers. Mowers that use reels make less noise than those that don’t. Reel mowers are safer as the blades stop when you stop pushing. In addition, they’re less expensive to purchase and maintain than gas or electric lawn mowers. Modern models are nimbler than their predecessors because of the use of lightweight polymers and metals.

Disadvantages of reel mowers include: The blades get clogged with twigs and must be manually cleaned out. Raking twigs before mowing adds extra time and work. Using fall reel mowers as leaf-shredders is not possible. Greenworks are critical for homeowners who do not mow often to use a rotary mower since it is better at cutting thick grass.

For small urban homes and energetic persons, reel mowers are the ideal option. If you have a small yard, a reel mower is ideal. Excessive use of gas, oil and noise is not what you would expect from a little town. Rechargeable battery-powered mowers are another alternative for small lawns. This lawnmower has a low maintenance need.

Features of Greenworks 48V 20-inch Cordless Push Lawn Mower

1- Easy to Use

Easy to Use ????? 4/5

Greenworks are quite simple to use. The majority of the time, a self-propelled mower will be powered by gas (although battery mowers do offer this feature too). Mowers powered by gas are hefty machines!

When you don’t have the physical strength to push a big mower over a large lawn, Greenworks may be quite a workout. While using a self-propelled mower, you don’t have to lift a finger. As long as you’re careful around corners, you’ll have no problem driving your lawnmower in the proper direction for most of the time.

If you’re worried about the weight of the mower you’re considering, this is a huge help. You won’t have to take a sleep after mowing the grass if you use this technique. It’s simple to move and I can hoist it up the few stairs to our front yard and it takes up very little room in the garage. All the power Greenworks consume comes from your legs and arms moving this machine. I couldn’t even get the old machine up the stairs, so I had to walk around the back and be clever. The little sticker on the side warned that Greenworks may sever my arm in two.

2- Practical

Practical ????? 5/5

Lawn mowers are very practical to use. Greenworks aren’t essential for a tiny lawn. Because reel or electric mowers are more than adequate and considerably lighter, you’re unlikely to use a large, heavy mower in a tiny yard.

Another big benefit of self-propelled push lawn mowers on medium-sized lawns is the time they save. Greenworks take more time and effort to mow a wide area manually than Greenworks do to use a ride-on mower. I’m not exaggerating when I claim that switching to a self-propelled mower has made mowing my lawn at least 30% faster.

When it comes to saving time, I am a bit of a control freak. Therefore, every chance I find to do so is one I should take advantage of. However, mowing a tiny lawn will not save you much time since

a) Greenworks take less time to mow small areas and

greenworks, 20-in, corded, electric

b) There are more turns in a smaller yard.

Using a self-propelled lawn mower in large areas will save you the most time. A level lawn is a luxury not enjoyed by others. In many cases, homeowners must contend with slopes, dips, and even hills. Self-propelled lawn mowers are a great option if that describes you.

3- Gives Better Shape

Gives Better Shape ????? 4/5

You may wonder what the self-propel has to do with the cut’s quality and smoothness. In fact, quite a lot. As it turns out, if you get a lawn mower that is a little too heavy for your needs, you’re going to have a difficult time moving it around the grass.

In the beginning, when you’re bursting with vitality, it may not be necessary. When you are tired or are having trouble pushing the mower up a hill, you’re more likely to struggle against its weight, take longer and more pauses, and adjust the pace at which you’re pushing the mower.

A less consistent cut is the outcome of all of this. In a perfect world, you would run the mower over your grass at the same pace on every section. The key to success here is maintaining a high level of consistency in all aspects of your life. Self-propelled mowers can help you achieve this consistency. Greenworks lawn mower don’t matter whether your lawn is half an acre or three acres, level or full of hills and dips, you can operate your mower at the same pace with this. As a result, the finished product will have a more polished look.

4- Emissions of Carbon Dioxide

Emissions of Carbon Dioxide ????? 4.7/5

Regular mowing in the spring, summer, and autumn is critical to the health of a lawn. A dependable lawnmower is the tool of choice for many gardeners who trim their grass as often as once a week. Greenworks are simple to presume that a gas-powered example would be the most appropriate. Electric lawn mowers, on the other hand, are the preferred option for those with some of the most meticulously maintained lawns.

To understand why, Greenworks lawn mower are vital to analyze the pros and drawbacks of each kind of mower. We’ll also go further into the reasons why electric lawn mowers are becoming more popular while gas push lawn mowers are falling out of favor.

Reduced carbon emissions are another perk of using an electric lawnmower. An electric lawnmower is less polluting than a gas-powered one since Greenworks don’t consume any fossil fuels. Greenworks are a little amount of gasoline compared to driving a vehicle or truck on petrol, but as more and more people transition to electric, every little bit helps.

Greenworks do not cause the emission of harmful gases to the environment. In this way, Greenworks protects the environment and nature. It is very important for a more livable environment. In short, it can be said that Greenworks lawn mower are environmentally friendly.

Final Verdict

Every push lawn mower has its advantages and disadvantages. Lawn mowers that operate on their own power are no exception. Certain conditions call for Greenworks lawn mower usage, while others consider Greenworks an unnecessary extravagance. The comparison of a push lawn mower and a self-propelled mower should be done before anybody invests in one. Is one something you should think about getting? Maybe. Mowers powered by electricity provide a number of advantages. They’re quieter than gas versions, and they also don’t produce any harmful pollutants. To top Greenworks all off, there’s no need to adjust spark plugs, oil, or replenish gas tanks with electric lawn equipment.

However, this does not mean that electric mowers are without their problems. As you may anticipate, battery life affects performance. Power reduces when the battery is depleted. Having to stop and recharge the battery halfway through a big yard (at least half an acre) may be source of frustration (or swap in a backup). Keep in mind that mowing slopes depletes the mower’s battery quickly. Ideally, you want a small, level yard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DannyDDAn from A Go Getter! I have owned this mower for two years, live in the country, have a one-acre yard, many shade trees, and love to exercise. Through the spring and summer, this trusty “friend” has mowed wet grass, dry grass, tall grass, and seldom even bogged down! Then, come the fall and winter and together, we mulch the leaves and remove the excess debris with ease and efficiency! I am seventy-two years old and in excellent health; largely, thanks to the exercise and good vibes i get from my mowing and keeping a pristine yard (We don”t call it a lawn out here, by the way.) I may write a book entitled “Mow You Way to Better Health: Me and My Greenworks Mower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by josh825 from Amazing Mower, Amazing Value I have a quarter acre lot, and my “old” mower was a 40v battery-powered machine from another company. The wheels literally fell off (yes, actually literally) in the first season of use. I was skeptical about buying another electric mower, but was fairly determined to avoid gas. The Greenworks 20” corded kept showing up in researching what to buy. For the price, I had to try it. Right out of the box I was impressed. Solid construction, and obviously quality components (i.e. wheels, tires, height lever, handlebar padding). So far I have mowed the entire yard twice since buying it, and have mulched a ton of old leaves. It’s not fancy, but it’s a workhorse, and I’m so glad I bought it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nick and Nora from A Good Mower This mower does the job. It is a quality product. Easy to assemble, easy to use. On the negative side, it is noisier than its predecessor. I find I must use ear protection with this mower. Also, there’s quite a bit of debris that blows out the top and corners of the bag where it hooks onto the mower. Finally, where the handle is bolted to the mower, there is only one nut and bolt per side. This allows the handle to slightly move about. The design is meant to keep the handle in place with just one bolt, and it does. But the looseness of the handle connection with the mower detracts from the overall quality of the mower. I would buy this mower again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Richard2 from Excellent Value! This is the second time I have bought this mower in last 5 years. The first one is still working fine, gave it to our daughter. This mower has multiple height settings and cuts the grass in our yard very well. It has never failed to start( neither of the two). I like the 20″ cutting width also. Only maintenance I have done is to have the blade sharpen and to clean the bottom of the mower of any grass that collects mainly if the grass is damp when cutting. No gas, oil changes, spark plugs to mess with. I will never go back to a gas mower. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by tooldoc from If it starts tripping the circuit breaker. I’ve had this for many years now, probably since they first came out. Only use it about a dozen times per year though. Stored outside. I just had to do the first repair and it seems to be a common one. Symptom is that it starts tripping the circuit breaker when turned on. If this happens, the probable culprit is the bridge rectifier that converts 120V AC to DC that the brushed DC motor uses. A rectifier like this is just 4 diodes. Mine failed. Replacements can be bought for just a few dollars (I got 4 for 6. keeping spares) on eBay. The one in there is rated at 400V / 25A. I replaced that with 1000V / 50A which works fine, and will hopefully be a little more robust. I’ve also treated the steel shell around the motor with Rustex (Phosphoric acid rust protection / treatment) to keep it good. Storing in a garage or shed should avoid the need for this. While waiting for the part to arrive, my wife borrowed our neighbor’s electric mower to finish our half-cut lawn. She commented that theirs was very heavy and much more difficult for her to use, and that she got a good workout doing it. The lighter greenworks one does the job for us very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jenny S from Electric lawnmower This was almost entirely assembled in the box and I was so happy about that. You just have to attach the bag (if you want it) and the top part of the handle. I have a small yard but a bunch of steep slopes. My push reel mower was cutting bits and pieces but not the thicker weeds. This thing was easy to start and stop and maneuver. It took a little time to figure out the proper extension cord. I ended up with 100 ft cord that was rate for 13 amps I believe. It’s a little tricky at first to manage the cord but it’s just like vacuuming a large room and after about halfway thru I had a good rhythm with the cord. I’m super happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hoodedcrawldad from Great Mower I have had this mower for a year now. it has worked awesome. This is my first electric mower since gas mowers give me headaches. I was concerned about the power, but it is a strong mower. I am not easy on this mower and I run over everything with it (acorns, sticks, rocks, leaves, grass) and it handles it like a champ. I have done nothing to this machine in a year and it still looks almost brand new. I wish I had another one so we can cut the front and back grass at the same time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Emily Ng from Very flimsy machine HI bought this in April-May 2021. In less than a year, two bolts and nuts which connect the handle bar and the machine body were loosen. We’ve tried out best to put them back put the space was so small for any tools, and they’ve continuously come off. We hardly use it for 8 months for a very small yard (not use it at all from Nov ’21. Feb.22) and now it is useless. These bolts and nuts were pre-installed already when the machine was delivered. Greenworks should do a better job with quality controls. I’ve bought all Greenworks lawn mower/trimmer/leaf blower for one of my houses and will never ever buy this brand again in the future. Very frustrated.

Summary

The Greenworks 20-Inch 40V Twin Force Cordless Battery lawn mower is one of the best selling cordless lawn mowers in the US, but is it all what it’s cracked up to be?

The Greenworks 25302 is indeed packed with features you would expect to see in higher end cordless mowers and certainly has the ability to cut a lawn in excess of 10,800 square feet (roughly the size of 4 tennis courts). but it needs to be compared to it’s nearest rival, the BLACKDECKER CM2040 40V Lithium, to judge how good this mower really is.

To compare Greenworks 25302 to other cordless mowers in higher or lower price range would distort the results, these two mowers are probably the most affordable and best performing 40v cordless mowers on the market today.

Below I’ll be detailing all the features and functions of the Greenworks 20-Inch 40V Twin, both good and not so good and then comparing to the BLACK DECKER CM2040 40V so you understand exactly what you’re getting for your money.

  • Covers areas exceeding 10,800 square feet in size
  • 2 batteries – 1 x 40V, 2Ah and 1 x 4.0Ah Li-on battery (UK version supplied with 2 x 40V, 2Ah)

Power System

Like many cordless lawn mowers, the Greenworks 20-Inch 40V Twin is powered by two Lithium-ion battery (40V) and electrical motor which it will charge in around 3 hours. The battery is removed from the mower for charging and storage.

Each battery needs to be charged individually as the charger can only charge one battery at a time, it could take up to 3 hours to fully recharge, however, this will produce a very respectable mowing time of around 70 minutes.

In comparison the BLACKDECKER CM2040 40V that takes 60 minutes for each battery to charge (total 120 min) but gives a shorter mowing time of around 40 minutes for both batteries. This naturally depends on the condition and length of the lawn.

Unlike the Greenworks only one battery can be made active on the mower, with the Black Decker providing a storage compartment for the second battery, with the Greenworks once one battery is drained the machine automatically switches over to the second battery.

With both mowers, only one battery can be charged at any time. I also found that the charger with the Black Decker will not allow the battery to be recharged immediately after being used and needs a considerable period of time (40min) to allow the battery to cool down, so bare this in mind when comparing charging times.

So in summary, the Greenworks 20-Inch 40V will give much longer mowing time than the Black Decker CM2040 with very little difference in relation to charge time (comparison table below).

But in saying that the mowing/charging time doesn’t directly affect you if it’s enough to cut the entire lawn with no rush to charge the batteries for the next cut.

Also, the power system is completely electric so it produces zero emissions and works extremely quietly. Which is quieter? well there’s not much between them but would say the Greenworks 20-Inch 40V is slightly quieter than the CM2040, but really there is nothing in it that you would notice.

The great thing about these mowers is that you can set out to work at any time you want without it annoying you, your family or your neighbours, and with zero emissions look after the environment as well.

Blades

The Twin Force G-MAX Lithium-Ion Mower has a 20 inch cutting width with two blades that do not overlap but come very close to each other. The dual metal mower blades gives it very effective benefits…

  • Having two blades provides for a very fine mulch cut. Blades of grass are cut smaller and finer making it more easily absorbed into the lawn.
  • The two blades allow for a wide 20 inch cutting width right to the edge of the mower.
  • Metal blade generally wear less quickly than plastic blades which results in you needing to replace the lawnmower blades more often than a lawnmower that uses a metal blade.
  • Metal blades are generally sharper and provide a cleaner cut to the grass blade, resulting in a neater, tidier and superior finish to your lawn and yard. The metal blades on the Twin Force G-MAX can be sharpened when needed unlike plastic blades.

This again does put it ahead of competitors and it’s good that Greenworks have taken advantage of what is clearly the most effective cutting system in the market.

So in summary, this mower cuts extremely well whether or not you are collecting the clippings or mulching.

Well, no. There are a couple of small disadvantages of having the two blades and to some extent puts this mower a slight disadvantage to the Black and Decker CM2040.

  • The two blades turn in different directions so you do not have the option for side discharge as you do with the CM2040. You only have 2 options, mulching and rear bagging because of the dual blade design, it does not offer side discharge feature.
  • As the blades do not overlap (but come very close) you sometimes can see it miss the odd blade of grass. This is very picky and will not even be noticed by the majority, but worth a mention.

Height Adjustment

In order to combat the changing season and to continually improve the look of your lawn, you can adjust the height at which the Greenworks 20-Inch 40V Twin Force Cordless Lawn Mower (25302) cuts at. This is done very easily using the large single lever located on top/side of the mower.

It lets you choose to cut from anywhere between 1.15 inches to 3.5 inches with 5 separate cutting lengths. Just make sure you don’t set it at the shortest setting from the when the lawn has significant growth, instead start at a much higher setting and gradually work your way down. This gives the areas of small grass to catch up with the long, resulting in a more even lawn.

As well as being able to sharpen the blades, it is also possible to purchase a replacement blade. Replacing the blade is relatively easy for anyone with basic DIY skills and tools.

Cutting Diameter and Height

The cutting diameter of the mower is a very respectable 20 inch (50 cm) and is perfect for those with lager lawns and no narrow strips to navigate, reducing mowing time and giving you more time to put you feet up to admire you beautiful lawn. Now, compared to it’s counterparts with smaller widths, this might be a potential disadvantage; however, it could also be beneficial if it’s to be used in a smaller areas and lawns with narrow strips.

You may well be thinking that for a mower with such a large cutting width you would have to compromise on having a heavy and difficult to manoeuvre mower, well that’s not the case with the Greenworks Twin Force G-MAX. At just 42.5 lbs it is one of the lightest mowers in this class and size range and weighs up to 30-40 lbs lighter than a gas/petrol mower – WOW!

When you need a mower that’s light in weight and going to get your lawn mowed in the shortest time possible, this may well be the best option, the Greenworks Twin Force G-MAX could be the cordless mower of choice.

Grass box capacity

As with all larger cordless lawn mowers the grass box is going to hold much more than it’s smaller counterparts, however 13 Gallon is a little smaller than the Black and Decker CM2040 at 15 gallons. 13 Gallons will still allow for longer periods of use without needing to empty grass clipping as often.

The grass box on the Greenworks Twin Force G-MAX is very easy to remove and the grass clipping empty from the box with no obstructions.

An airflow tab located on the bag tells you when the bag is full, eliminating any guesswork about when it needs emptying.

Practicalities

The light weight, oversized 10-inch wheels and the large cutting width make this mower excellent for larger lawns or lawns with slopes or are uneven.

This really will make lawn care much easier and really makes the entire experience much less dependent on you struggling with a heavy over sized gas mower.

As with all cordless lawn mowers, not being tethered by the cord not only makes it easier to mow the lawn, but safer, quieter and more environmentally friendly.

Does this make it more practical the it’s closest competition? well, yes I think it does for people with large lawns that have a need for longer running/mowing time. There is also a fold away handle that makes carrying and storing the mower in the garage or shed very easy.

  • CORDLESS 20” LAWN MOWER – Get more done, faster, with Greenworks electric lawn mowers. This 40V push mower provides the power you need with up to 45 minutes of run-time on a fully charged 4.0Ah and 2.0Ah battery.Brushless motor : No

Safety Features

What I really like about the Greenworks Twin Force G-MAX is the addition of a removable safety key that disables the lawnmower to help prevent accidental starting. This is a nice feature not found on similar cordless mowers that give peace of mind around children.

Mulching

As with almost all Greenworks electric corded and cordless versions are capable of mulching. The Greenworks Twin Force G-MAX seems to do this very well due to it dual blades that produce a fine and very small mulch.

What’s Included in the box?

  • The mower itself
  • (1) 4AH Battery, (1) 2AH Battery, and Charger (40V)
  • 13 Gallon Grass Box
  • Mulch Plug
  • 4-years warranty (2 years for the batteries)

Pros and Cons

  • Dual Blades Offer Better Cut Quality.
  • Innovative Smart Cut Technology.
  • Great Value Mower
  • Mulching Ability
  • Up To 70 Minutes Run Time

Downsides

  • This mower is not self propelled – but it is really light enough that it doesn’t matter so much.
  • You can only charge one battery at a time, so a second charger may be required if this is an issue for you.
  • This mower can struggles in a really dense grass areas. Be prepared to make more passes in such a condition, however, this is a problem most cordless mowers experience.

Now the above may sound trivial and are common to most cordless mowers but should be taken into consideration anyway. They are part of the package and it’s better being aware of them before a purchase than after.

Conclusion

Overall this is a very good mower, I actually rate it higher than the Black and Decker CM2040 Lawnmower due to it’s light weight, portability and good build quality. It also feels more powerful, this is probably due to the built in auto throttle, which automatically adjust power to the cutting blades so the mower is not working harder than it has to.

The extra features like the removable safety key is a nice touch but one that you most probably never use, besides you want features that will help achieve a lovely looking lawn with least amount of work and effort.

The Greenworks Twin Force G-MAX is very proficient at cutting varying lengths and thickness for such a lightweight cordless mower. It’s worth mentioning that by cutting more regularly and avoiding very long or wet grass this should avoid not putting too much strain on the battery. Remember to always keep the battery charged and in a dry place over winter.

With this mower you’re getting features normally found in high priced gas mowers, so this is a very reasonable price at under 300.

But do I think it’s better than its closest competitors?

At this price range this really gives great value for money and you would be very hard pressed to find a cordless mower that performs this well, and has such a good build quality for this price. To get the best out of this mower you will need to cut your lawn more regularly and not let the grass grow too high or dense as it may struggle to cut very dense grass, this is however common with all cordless mowers at this price point and specification.

Overall I think this is a fantastic mower and I encourage everyone with a larger yard to purchase one. In fact I think it’s the best mower at this level you can get right now!

Should You Buy This Model?

Well there are a few factors to consider first, whether or not you purchase this model really depends on your yard and situation.

To give you some guidance on which type of customer would suit this model best, below I’ve got a list of the categories they would fall under:

  • Their yard is less than 10,800 square feet in size
  • Like the convenience of having no power cord or have limited or no access to a power source in the yard but still get up to 70 minutes uninterrupted mowing time
  • Those who want to mulch and cut grass with the same mower
  • Need a wide cutting deck (20 inch) to get the lawn cut with fewer passes

In this article, we’ll review the Greenworks 25022 20-inch, electric corded lawnmower, looking at buyer feedback and getting expert mechanic opinions to examine this mower’s performance and best use.

The Greenworks corded lawn mower is a push-style, corded electric mower for small lawns and garden areas.

We’ll discuss its pros and cons and let you know what types of mowing situations it can handle.

Brand Power Source Dimensions Cutting Width Weight
Greenworks 120 v. corded electric 26.9 x 16.1 x 18 inches 20-inches 56 Pounds

Greenworks 25022 Review

The Greenworks 25022 lawnmower is powered with an extension cord plugged into a household 120-volt outlet. This mower is non-self-propelled, so you have to use muscle power to move it around. This mower is suitable for small to medium-sized lawns.

The mower is lightweight (only 56 pounds) when the catchment bag is empty. It is relatively easy to push on even to slightly uneven terrain.

Product Features

  • Foldable handles for compact storage
  • Mulches, side-discharges, or bags cuttings
  • Cam-locking handle for compact folding and storage
  • Quiet, fume-free operation

Greenworks 25022 Review: What the Greenworks 3 in 1 Mower Can Do

The Greenworks 25022 is called a 3 in 1 lawnmower model because it can mulch, side discharge, or bag up cuttings in a rear-mounted bag while mowing.

Mulching is a way of returning the grass clippings to the lawn, where they decompose in a thin layer, adding nutrients back into the soil. In short, it is an excellent way of eliminating the need to dispose of grass clippings, and it can save on costs and labor for applying fertilizer to your lawn.

Mulching Feature

This mower does not need special mulching blades to use the mulching feature. However, you must install the ‘mulch plug’ that comes with the unit to activate mulching. With the mulch plug in place, the clippings blow out behind the machine. They get spread evenly on the lawn rather than going out the side chute.

Discharge Feature

Side discharging with the mower leaves the cut debris in a pile next to the strip you are mowing. Most people rake up the cuttings and add them to the compost pile or dispose of them as green waste. If you leave them in place, they can cause the lawn underneath to become yellow from lack of light.

Bagging Feature

Using the bagging feature on this mower saves you the time and effort of raking up clippings, but you do have to empty the bag when it gets full. As the bag fills, it also adds weight to the lawnmower, and it takes more effort to push it along, especially in a yard with slopes. A 1.42 bushel (50 liters) bagging unit comes with the mower.

This mower does mow in reverse. However, for safety reasons, the manufacturer does not recommend doing this in most situations.

Greenworks Electric Mower: Power Source and Motor

The Greenworks Electric Corded Mower comes with a formidable 12 amp motor. The machine starts up with a simple push-button start and holding down the power control bar similar to those on a gas-powered mower. You must provide an extension cord of the right length and wire gauge to operate this lawnmower. It does not come with a cord.

The gauge of wire needed in the extension cord must match the cord’s length and the amperage of the circuit. The Greenworks website has a chart showing the wire gauge needed for different extension cord and circuit amps lengths.

For extension cords under 100 feet in length, a 14-gauge cord is generally adequate for powering this mower. For cords over 100 feet, you may need a 12 or 10-gauge extension cord. Using a heavier gauge cord helps deliver more power to the motor, giving it more muscle for cutting thick grass and weeds.

Keep in mind that the lower the number, the thicker and more heavy-duty the wire for the wire gauge. For example, a 10 gauge extension cord can deliver more power than a 14 gauge cord.

How To Fix Potential Problems

Some buyers of this lawnmower had problems because they used an extension cord that was too small to gauge the mower—using too small an extension cord results in excessive wear and damage to the motor.

The length of extension cord you need depends on the distance from the outlet to the yard’s farthest area where you want to mow. Be sure to check with the manufacturer to determine the best wire gauge for your situation.

There is a cord lock to protect against accidentally unplugging the machine while mowing. You can find this lock where the extension cord plugs into the mower. It is essential to use this feature for safety and crucial to keep the cord from getting under the mower while mowing because the cord can easily get damaged by the blades.

The 120-volt motor on this unit is quiet and smooth sounding, eliminating the harsh engine noise of a gas-powered mower. Because there is no battery, you don’t have downtime for recharging or expense on battery replacement. The mower is ready to go whenever you are.

Greenworks 20-inch Mower Cutting Deck

The Greenworks 20-inch mower has a cutting width of 20-inches, making it perfect for small yards, lawns, and tight garden areas. If you have outbuildings like a shed, gazebo, or pool house, the narrow cutting deck on this mower makes it easier to get a close cut near the structure.

The deck is made from durable stamped steel that is unlikely to bend or dent easily if you hit an obstacle. You can adjust the deck height to seven positions using the height adjustment lever located behind the right rear wheel. Changing this adjustment allows you to cut the grass to a height between 1.5 and 3.75 inches.

The rear wheels are 10-inches in diameter, and the front wheels are 7-inch, giving the mower lots of clearance when working on slightly uneven ground.

This model comes with a single blade for cutting, and the same blade works for all 3 in 1 feature. The blade is easy to remove by turning the machine over and using a large adjustable wrench and a wooden block to unloosen the blade attachment bolt.

Maintenance and Safety

Regular use of this machine requires occasion removal and reinstallation of the blade for sharpening. The mower is compact enough to fit in most cars’ trunks for servicing at a repair shop if you don’t want to do this work yourself.

Other than blade sharpening and cleaning under the cutting deck to remove stuck grass clippings, this unit requires little maintenance: another significant advantage for many people.

The mower is equipped with a safety switch that the operator must depress to keep the blades and motor running. If you lose control of the machine and the switch, everything immediately shuts off.

Greenworks 20-inch Mower Storage Features

The Greenworks 25022 lawnmower has folding handles that lock into place with a cam leaver, making the unit more compact for storage. The handles fold down about midway down the handlebar, making it easy to store this small-footprint machine under a workbench or in another tight space.

There is no cord to wind up on the machine. The electric design does not produce fumes and odors like gas-powered mowers, making it possible to store this mower in multiple locations around the house.

Buyer Feedback

In an Amazon Greenworks 25022 review of buyers, this machine gets top ratings on the ease of assembly, weight, noise level, maneuverability, and safety features. One older female buyer says she used a 12-gauge extension cord, which gave the machine a significant power boost. With it, she can mow tall grass as long as it’s dry. She especially appreciates the push-button start and elimination of a pull-cord start, which she could no longer work on her old mower.

Other customers stated that the only issue with this lawnmower is the need to stay vigilant about where the cord and mower blades are so you don’t damage the cord. Several buyers noted that this mower handles cutting over areas with twigs, acorns, small pine cones, and nuts without any problems except needing to sharpen the blades more often.

However, one buyer in Florida says this mower has trouble cutting the grass in her lawn due to clogging from the grass’s high moisture content. She finds the mower operates best when she uses the bagging feature.

Other buyers found that grass does not collect well in the bag, and a significant amount stays on the ground. The cut grass’s water may be necessary for how well the bagging unit works, and dryer grass may not bag as well as wetter clippings.

Main Product Benefits

  • Corded, electric power is quiet and clean-running
  • 3 in 1 mulching, side-discharge, and bagging capabilities
  • Foldable handles for compact storage

Overview of Greenworks Self-Propelled Corded Electric Lawn Mower

The Greenworks 22025 lawnmower is a reasonable choice in lawnmowers for anyone with a small yard on mostly even ground who wants to avoid the start-up hassle, fumes, and storage problems of gas-powered lawnmowers.

This Greenworks mower does require the separate purchase of a heavy-gauge extension cord to operate the machine. However, caution must be used when mowing to avoid cutting the cord.

Buyers are generally satisfied with this machine’s performance and find that it easily cuts small-sized lawns, as long as the operator can push the mower while cutting and work around the cord.
