How to adjust the carburetor on a Huter chainsaw

Carburetor Adjustment Signs

How do you know when it’s time to set up? As a rule, this procedure is done without fail when a loosening of the adjusting screws is detected.

adjust, carburetor, huter, chainsaw

However, there are other signs that indicate it is time to adjust the carburetor. In particular, you should pay attention to the following symptoms:

  • Feeling of strong vibration. this damages the protective cap, which, in turn, leads to a loss of fixation of all three adjusting screws.
  • Wear of the piston part of the engine. adjusting the carburetor in this case will extend the operation of the tool, but only for a certain period of time. In any case, it is necessary to replace the piston group as soon as possible.
  • Blockages. caused by poor quality gasoline, scale, blockage or damage to the filter.
  • An increased “appetite” is a clear reason to think about how to adjust the carburetor on a STIHL chainsaw or any other model. The phenomenon is accompanied by an increase in the amount of exhaust gases, which does not lead to anything good.
  • The engine stalls immediately after the plant or does not start at all. this happens as a result of a lack of fuel against the background of excess air.

All of these signs clearly indicate the need for carburetor adjustment. And the sooner the procedure is carried out, the better for the instrument. Otherwise, other equally important components of the engine and chainsaws in particular may fail.

Failures

If, after the chainsaw has been started and when the trigger is pressed, dips are felt well during the set of revolutions, it is worth manipulating the screw L. To do this, it must be turned by no more than a quarter of a full turn in both directions. Along with this, evaluate the reaction of the engine to pressing the gas.

Try to find the position of the adjusting screw at which the engine will accelerate quickly and evenly. It is also worth not rushing here, and it makes no sense to turn the screw to a larger angle, because on its own it is simply not able to untwist. In this regard, a quarter of a turnover will be enough.

Chainsaws brand “STIHL” and “Partner

In models “STIHL” 180, 250, 361, and “Partner” 351, 350 carburetor settings are carried out with the same screws as for Husqvarna chainsaw. H and L. This is how the proportions of gasoline and air are set. The screw T is also responsible for adjusting the idle speed. Although some models may have a different marking of this mode. S. In other words, the adjustment procedure itself, if necessary, is carried out according to the same scheme for almost any model.

Preparation

How to adjust the carburetor on a STIHL 180 chainsaw? This procedure requires thorough preparation. And first you need to refer to the manual for the chainsaw and find information regarding the angle of rotation of the screws in it. If you do everything in no particular order, then you can simply disable the engine.

The motor itself, in turn, must be in good working order. In addition, you need to inspect the air filter and, if necessary, start cleaning it. Otherwise, it will not pass the required amount of air and the carburetor setting will be incorrect.

The procedure itself must be performed on a flat surface. In this case, the tool itself should be positioned so that its chain is not directed towards the operator to avoid injury.

Adjustment means

How to adjust the carburetor on a Partner chainsaw? First of all, you need to understand the purpose of the three screws that are equipped with models 142, 240, 236, 137 and others like that. Each of them has its own designation and purpose:

  • Screw L. with its help low speed is regulated.
  • Screw H. it adjusts the motor to work at high speeds.
  • Screw T. adjusts idling parameters.

Some models of chainsaws are equipped with only one twist marked T. Accordingly, the adjustment of the carburetors in this case is done by manipulating it with only one.

In addition, it should be understood that regardless of the number of screws, the optimal operating mode of the chainsaw is ensured by the carburetor settings, which were set at the factory. As for the screws themselves, their presence is due to the operation of the tool under certain weather conditions.

Adjustment procedure

The carburetor of a tool with three screws is adjusted by manipulating two of them. L and H. In order to increase the speed, turn them clockwise, to lower it. in the opposite direction. It is worth using a special screwdriver to prevent it from slipping off the screws and damage to the threads on their “caps”.

The decision on how to adjust the carburetor on the Partner 350 chainsaw involves two stages. the initial and the main one. The actual algorithm of actions may look like this:

  • The first step. you need to turn both screws in the clockwise direction to the end.
  • Then screw L and screw H turn one and a half turns in the opposite direction.
  • The second stage. the chainsaw starts up and is left for some time to warm up completely. 12-15 minutes will be enough.
  • Now you should turn the other. the third screw T until the moment when the engine starts to run stably and the chain on the bus does not rotate.

In the course of carrying out these manipulations, one should not rush. The slower the propellers turn, the more noticeable changes in engine performance can be felt.

How to adjust the carburetor of a chainsaw: instructions, process description and rules

Among private sector owners, the chainsaw is an indispensable tool for which there is always a use. It is a mechanism that consists of parts that are carefully fitted to each other. The main element of the entire structure is the carburetor. As in old cars, its role is to prepare a mixture of fuel and air for its further supply to the engine. And since the element works constantly when using the tool, it is necessary to periodically maintain it. How to adjust the carburetor of a chainsaw? Every owner of this mechanism wants to know the answer to this question. Actually, this is what we will do now.

How to adjust the carburetor on a chainsaw

The most common problem encountered in the operation of chainsaws is the improper operation of the carburetor, which leads to excessive consumption of fuel and a decrease in power, so any user should know how to adjust the carburetor on a chainsaw.

Chainsaw carburetors are arranged in the same way as car ones, and therefore everyone who is familiar with the principle of operation of an internal combustion engine is able to cope with adjusting the carburetor and can adjust it with his own hands.

New saws are supplied from the factory with an adjusted carburetor, but during operation the standard setting is violated and the saw needs to be re-adjusted. The documentation that came with your saw describes how to adjust the carburetor.

Carburetor adjustment is needed when the following symptoms appear:

  • at idle speed, the saw operates at increased speeds;
  • smokes a lot when working;
  • does not start well both in a cold state and in a warm state;
  • works at reduced revs and with reduced traction.

DIY carburetor repair

The carburetor is easy to disassemble, so you can repair the chainsaw carburetor yourself. For example, if necessary, it is quite possible to do the following operations with your own hands:

  • replace the gasket under the cover of the main chamber;
  • flush or replace the fuel filter;
  • replace needle valve and fuel pump diaphragm.

Before proceeding with the disassembly of the carburetor, it is necessary to clean the dirt from the surface of the body, as it can get inside the carburetor and clog the holes of the needle valves and the jet.

Next, you should undock the fasteners of the air and throttle control rods, dismantle the air filter and remove the cover of the main chamber by unscrewing the fastening screws. After that, you can start replacing the mentioned parts.

Very often, the reason for not starting the saw can be defects in the ignition system, in particular, spark plugs due to the following reasons:

  • carbon deposits on the candle. indicates poor quality oil or improper carburetor adjustment;
  • filling the spark plug with fuel. incorrect carburetor adjustment.

To check the condition of the spark plug, unscrew it with a special wrench from the cylinder head.

The carbon deposits on the candle are removed with a needle or awl, and, if necessary, with a sandpaper, then we put it in place and try to start the engine.

We wipe the flooded candle with a rag, dry it, put it in place and try to start the saw.

In some cases, the engine smokes and stalls at high revs. The reason may be clogging of the muffler with exhaust products, so you need to remove the muffler, wash the carbon deposits with gasoline, wipe it, dry it and put it back in place. While the muffler is not in place, the exhaust outlet should be covered with a rag to prevent dirt from entering.

How to set up a carburetor on a chainsaw?

Carburetor adjustment consists in adjusting the jet and air damper so as to obtain the optimal ratio of the amount of air and fuel in the fuel mixture.

If there is a lot of air in the fuel mixture and there is a lack of fuel, the mixture is lean, therefore the engine power is reduced.

If there is a lot of fuel and a lack of air. the mixture is oversaturated, incomplete combustion of the fuel occurs, which leads to smoke, soot on the piston and in the exhaust pipe and increased fuel consumption.

How to properly adjust the carburetor on a chainsaw

The hand-held chainsaw is an excellent assistant in the personal household, which is indispensable for the preparation of firewood, pruning of tree branches, as well as for the construction of wooden log cabins for houses, baths and outbuildings. The saws are designed to cut and cut medium-sized tree trunks.

Currently, there is a large selection of chainsaws on the market, among which we can mention the Partner chainsaws of the Swedish concern Husqvarna and the Huter chainsaws of the German company of the same name, for their compactness, lightness, performance and reasonable prices.

The ease of maintenance of the Partner and Huter saws allows even the first person to handle them, but, nevertheless, the chainsaw is a complex device and requires careful attention to itself. In the process of work, various kinds of malfunctions sometimes occur that affect the efficient operation, and the user must be able to cope with them.

How to properly adjust the carburetor?

Consider, as an example, adjusting the carburetor of a Partner chainsaw.

To adjust, you need to have a slotted screwdriver and a device. a tachometer, which allows you to measure the engine speed.

The setting is carried out in the following sequence:

  • tuning the carburetor of the chainsaw at low speeds;
  • adjustment at maximum speed;
  • fine tuning to work at idle speed;
  • checking the operation of the saw in all modes.

You need to start after the engine has been running and warmed up.

The chainsaw is adjusted using three adjusting screws on its body:

  • screw L. adjusting the fuel supply at medium and low speeds
  • screw H. at high speeds;
  • screw T. at idle.

If the carburetor is completely misaligned and the engine does not want to start, set the adjusting screws L and H to the standard setting: first tighten them completely, then unscrew them half a turn.

Start the engine and let it warm up, then start adjusting low rpm with screws L and T.

To do this, screw L should be unscrewed until the maximum engine speed is reached, and then screwed in ¼ turn, and set the idle speed with screw T.

Further, to adjust to maximum speed, slowly tighten the screw H, achieving maximum speed according to the tachometer.

After completing the adjustment, it is important to check the operation of the engine in all modes. To do this, you need to drown it out and let it cool.

Then start the saw in cold start mode and observe the engine idling. If the gas gradually increases and decreases, and the chain does not move, the adjustment is correct. The next step is to check while cutting. If there is a loss of power, re-adjust.

The device and principle of operation of the carburetor

The structure and principle of operation of the carburetor of a chainsaw are the same as those of carburetors of internal combustion engines and performs the same function: preparation and supply of a mixture of air with fuel to the combustion chamber of the engine.

The carburetor consists of the following parts:

  • hulls;
  • float chamber;
  • needle valve;
  • float;
  • sprayer;
  • fuel jet;
  • mixing chamber;
  • throttle valve;
  • diffuser.

Atmospheric air, passing through the air filter, enters the air channel of the carburetor, where the diffuser is located, which reduces the diameter of the channel, as a result of which a reduced pressure is created behind the diffuser.

A throttle valve is installed behind the diffuser, which regulates the supply of air to the carburetor. By partially blocking or opening the air channel, the damper controls the air flow, thereby regulating the engine speed.

Under the influence of the reduced air pressure created behind the diffuser, gasoline from the float chamber is sucked into the mixing chamber through the fuel nozzle and the sprayer.

In the chamber, fuel is mixed with air, forming a fuel mixture, and then supplied to the combustion chamber. The throttle valve is mechanically connected to the fuel jet, which regulates the amount of fuel supplied to the atomizer. Consequently, it simultaneously regulates the supply of air and fuel to the combustion chamber.

The float regulates the fuel level in the float chamber, keeping it at the same level. It is connected to a needle valve that blocks the flow of fuel into the float chamber.

When the fuel level drops, the float will lower and move the needle valve, forcing it to tear off the fuel supply port. When fuel fills the chamber to a normal level, the float moves the needle to the closed position.

The engine speed depends on how much of the mixture of fuel and air enters the combustion chamber. The more we open the damper, the more revolutions.

Saw carburetor tuning and minor repairs can be done without experience, but in order to do this correctly, you need to follow the algorithm described in the attached documentation. However, you should not overestimate your strengths, because sometimes it is cheaper to pay a specialist for quality service than to eliminate the consequences of your unprofessional repair.

When carburetor adjustment is necessary?

Initially, from the moment the tool was sold, all carburettors were adjusted and tuned at the factory. However, in the process of operation, the settings gradually go astray, and the operating mode changes in accordance with the operating conditions. Signs of a carburetor malfunction may include:

  • too high gasoline consumption, thick smoke comes from the exhaust pipe;
  • engine power is clearly not enough to perform normal tasks;
  • engine speed “float”;
  • after starting, the motor stalls either immediately or after a few seconds;
  • the engine cannot be started at all;
  • the chainsaw “shoots”, there are sharp claps in the engine of the tool.

Note! The reason for poor engine performance may be the worn out piston group, then adjusting the carburetor of the chainsaw does not give a full solution to the problem. Also, no setting will give the expected effect if the node is not cleaned of small particles of debris in parallel. The most problematic elements are jets and filters, both gasoline and air.

It should be noted that during the running-in of a new engine, the carburetor is adjusted to a reduced fuel supply in order to limit the engine power. After the end of the run-in, the fuel supply increases to the nominal value. These adjustments are made using the adjusting screws on the carburetor body (there are usually two or three of them).

How to properly adjust the carburetor with your own hands?

After rinsing and completely cleaning the carburetor, assemble it and begin to adjust. First of all, you should understand the purpose of the adjusting screws. The instruction will help with this, but some general points should be considered right away. The most common designations for screws are:

  • H. adjusts the state of the main jet, i.e. adjusts the maximum speed of rotation of the motor shaft;
  • L. adjusts the idle jets (responsible for the minimum shaft rotation speed);
  • T. regulates the idling of the motor. It can also be designated by the letters LA or S, on some models of carburetors it is not at all.

Turning screws H and L clockwise depletes the air-fuel mixture, and counterclockwise enriches it (the amount of gasoline increases). When the screw T rotates, the idling speed of the shaft changes. it increases clockwise, and decreases in the opposite direction.

Figure 2. Carburetor adjustment mechanisms

Before proceeding with direct actions, you should find and carefully study the information on the position of the adjusting screws (the magnitude of the angles of rotation when adjusting). This information is available in the instructions for the chainsaw. Then you need to prepare the workplace. lay the saw on a flat horizontal plane, directing the chain in the opposite direction from you. Detach all covers, remove foam rubber and air filter. At this, the preparatory operations are considered completed, you can proceed to the main part of the work.

  • Smoothly tighten the screws H and L clockwise until they stop. Be careful not to break the screws. this will cause a complete loss of the carburetor.
  • Unscrew both screws one and a half turn.
  • Run the engine for 10 minutes and warm it up. This is a necessary moment, since it will not be possible to correctly adjust the carburetor on a cold engine.
  • Turning the screws H and L, alternately adjust the rotation of the shaft at maximum and minimum revolutions.
  • By adjusting the position of the screw T (or it may have another designation), the idle speed of the chainsaw is adjusted. It is necessary to achieve smooth and stable engine operation. It is important to monitor whether the chain is idling or not. If it moves, turn the screw a little more counterclockwise.

Important! It is better not to adjust the screw H for an inexperienced person. If it is not set correctly, a lean air-fuel mixture will be supplied to the combustion chamber of the cylinder at maximum speed. This will lead to accelerated wear of the piston group.

You can check the operation of the engine visually and by ear. A mixture that is too rich will cause thick smoke from the exhaust. When the lean mixture is being fed, a whistling sound is heard while the saw is running. Excessive economy mode is harmful. if the L screw is set to “lean” fuel, there will be problems with starting the engine. If the H screw is set to lean, the saw will noticeably lose power. You can determine the correct setting by the following criteria:

  • at idle speed, the engine does not stall, and the chain is stationary;
  • there is no excessive smoke from the exhaust pipe while the engine is running;
  • the engine demonstrates good throttle response (quickly picks up speed when you press the accelerator).

A detailed description of the setting is available in the instructions that come with the instrument in the delivery set. It should be carefully studied, as there may be some features or specific requirements established by the manufacturer and related only to this saw model. If all requirements are met exactly, the performance of the chainsaw will be restored to its original state.

How to properly adjust the carburetor on a chainsaw with your own hands?

A chainsaw is a useful, and sometimes just a necessary tool for the owner of a private house. It has a high degree of autonomy, can be used in the field, where there is no possibility of connecting to the power supply network. For some craftsmen, the chainsaw is one of the main devices that perform large amounts of work almost daily. Such loads knock down the factory settings that were set for all important engine components.

The operating mode most often changes with the carburetor, which has to be re-adjusted. Not having an idea of the design and principle of operation of this element, it is impossible to properly adjust it. The question concerns many users who closely operate chainsaws, so it will be useful to consider it more carefully.

Adjustment tools

To tune the carburetor, you will need a Phillips or slotted screwdriver of different lengths or thicknesses; the size depends on the design of the unit and the assembly of the engine. It should be noted that some manufacturers make carburetors designed to use special tools.

In particular, special types of screwdrivers may be required to tune Husqvarna carburettors and other imported tools. It is advisable to clarify this question even when buying a chainsaw, so that you can purchase the necessary additional equipment in advance.

In addition, you will need refined gasoline or acetone to flush and clean the device. They are used to clean the outer surfaces of the carburetor. All internal channels are flushed with kerosene, diesel fuel or white spirit. Before flushing, the carburetor is disassembled, all rubber or plastic parts that may suffer from contact with aggressive chemical compounds are removed.

Open-end or spanner wrenches are used to disassemble the carburetor. The internal channels are flushed in specially designated trays, sometimes plastic syringes are used for this.

Design and principle of operation

A carburetor is a device in which fuel (gasoline) and air are mixed in predetermined proportions, followed by feeding the prepared mixture into the engine cylinder. Almost all models of chainsaws are equipped with carburetors of the same type, so the device and principle of operation are the same.

The main structural elements of the carburetor are:

  • body, which is cast from aluminum to reduce weight. Chainsaws constantly have to be moved from place to place, during operation they are held by hands, therefore, reducing the weight of the tool is the primary task of manufacturers;
  • a diffuser with an air damper, which are located at the inlet;
  • jets, which are valves for metering fuel;
  • a sprayer that injects gasoline into the chamber (in the diagrams it is designated as the main jet);
  • fuel (float) chamber.

Figure 1. Diagram of a chainsaw carburetor

How to adjust the carburetor of chainsaw

The principle of operation of the carburetor can be described as a cycle consisting of the following steps:

  • When starting the engine, the choke opens.
  • The piston stroke creates a vacuum in the air channel, as a result of which air enters the diffuser, the amount of which is regulated by the position of the air damper.
  • Gasoline flows from the gas tank to the float (fuel) chamber. The rate of its admission is regulated by jets.
  • In the diffuser, gasoline and air are mixed, resulting in the formation of a fuel-air mixture, which then enters the engine cylinder. The more the mixture enters the combustion chamber of the cylinder, the higher the power and speed on the engine shaft will be.

Important! It should not be assumed that the operation of the carburetor has a cyclical basis, as it might seem from the description. All processes take place constantly and continuously.

How to set up a China-made saw?

The design of the carburetor on Chinese chainsaws is no different in principle. The order and principle of adjustment also do not differ and are performed in the same order. The only difficulty that may arise during the execution of work is determining the purpose of the adjusting screws. Typically the T screw is at the top, while the H and L are at the bottom of the carburetor body. One more, additional screw may be present.

Figure 3. Location of adjusting mechanisms

Usually, their purpose is determined empirically, slightly changing the position and monitoring the result. After the purpose of the elements is clearly defined, further customization is not difficult and is performed in the usual manner.

Chainsaw carburetor tuning is an important and necessary procedure that must be performed periodically to restore the normal operation of the tool. This process does not create fundamental complexity, but it requires the user to be careful, attentive and comply with safety rules. The chain of a chainsaw is usually not removed, since you will need to observe its position. Therefore, it is important to constantly remember about the possibility of launching it and exercise the necessary caution.

The adjustment should be done smoothly, with small changes in the position of the screws, so as not to cause too sharp changes in the shaft rotation mode. The result depends on the care and thoroughness of the user, and a properly tuned carburetor will extend the life of the tool.

Setting nuances

It is important to know that the carburetor setting is carried out only after the full diagnostics of the saw has been carried out, the malfunctions of other parts of the chainsaw are eliminated, (air and gasoline filter, spark plug, gasket between the engine and the carburetor).

The gasket through which the engine and the carburetor of the Huter chainsaw are connected very often fails (dries up, cracks), air leaks at the site of the defect (the mixture is either depleted or enriched), as a result of which the saw stops working stably (the saw speed begins to float, is lost power, dips appear).

Huter chainsaw carburetors. device, adjustment and repair

The carburetor is an important unit of the chainsaw on which the high-quality operation of the tool directly depends. One of the most common problems with Huter saws is misalignment. Periodic adjustments are essential to maintain optimal performance and extend tool life.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Huter chainsaw carburetor

The positive qualities of this carburetor are quite significant:

  • recommendations for the use of fuel and oil of only high quality (gasoline not lower than AI 92);
  • the need to adjust the factory settings of the carburetor.

Which carburetor is installed on the Huter BS 45 chainsaw

As stated above, this model of the Huter chain saws is equipped with a Walbro membrane carburetor. The advantage of such a carburetor lies in the ability to dose the quality and quantity of the fuel mixture, and also, unlike float carburetors, in the ability to work in any position.

What you need to adjust

Before you start adjusting the carburetor, you should prepare the necessary tools, materials and devices that will come in handy in the process.

  • tachometer. to accurately determine the maximum number of engine revolutions;
  • slotted screwdriver. required when adjusting screws.

Electronic tachometer for adjusting engine speed

DIY carburetor repair

The fact that the carburetor needs repair can be determined by the following signs: unstable engine operation, excessive fuel consumption, jumps in engine power, pops.

The Huter chainsaw is not considered a difficult tool to disassemble, therefore, if you have the initial skills of a locksmith. a mechanic, improvised tools and desire, it will not be difficult to replace parts yourself.

What can be replaced in the carburetor without contacting a specialist:

  • fuel filter (flushing or replacing). when the engine jerks and sneezes;
  • needle valve. if the needle gets stuck in the valve or is stuck;
  • fuel pump diaphragm. wear;
  • gasket under the cover of the main chamber. not tight.
  • disassemble and wash the carburetor, if the air filter is clogged;
  • tighten the bolts, if they lose their fixation due to the intense vibration of the chainsaw.

Walbro manufactures self-service extended repair kits that include virtually all carburetor parts (fuel inlet needle, rocker arm, rocker shaft, filter screens, membrane).

An important recommendation to avoid carburetor malfunction: do not leave the fuel mixture in an inoperative saw for more than 12 hours, such negligence can lead to blockage of the channels.

When to regulate yourself, and when is it better to give it to a service center

You can independently adjust the carburetor if you have an idea of its principle of operation, and the sequence of the tuning algorithm is precisely followed. If, after adjusting at home, stability in the operation of the chainsaw is not achieved, you should consult a specialist in order to avoid irreversible damage to your Huter chainsaw.

Chainsaw carburetor adjustment using the example of Huter BS 45

It should be noted that in the manufacture of Huter chainsaws, the carburetor does not pass an exact factory setting, due to the fact that the test conditions for the composition of air and fuel differ from the conditions in real operation.

Therefore, in most cases, the carburetor needs more careful adjustment, immediately after the initial run-in.

How does a carburetor work?

All processes occurring in the engine are not cyclical, but a constant basis.

How to properly adjust the chainsaw carburetor

The vast majority of gasoline saw carburetor models have three adjustment screws:

  • idle speed (T);
  • low speed (L);
  • high speed (N).

Setting the required parameters is done by rotating these screws.

Use an electronic tachometer to fine tune the carburetor. It will make it easy to determine the engine speed of the chainsaw.

In what cases is it necessary to adjust the carburetor of the chainsaw?

Here is a list of the most common cases in which you need to adjust the carburetor of a chainsaw:

  • The engine starts, but the chainsaw stalls, or it cannot be started at all. Too much air in the fuel chamber may be the cause.
  • Increased fuel consumption. It can occur due to excessive saturation of the mixture that enters the engine with fuel. For the engine to work well, the mixture must be of good quality.
  • The bolts in the carburetor have lost their hold due to a damaged carburetor housing.
  • Debris entering the carburetor. This can happen if the filter is damaged or poor quality fuel is used. You will need to completely disassemble the carburetor, flush it and re-adjust.
  • Engine idling poorly or not delivering full power.

Important! If the engine is not performing well due to a worn piston, carburetor tuning will not work. In addition, along with the adjustment, it is advisable to clean the carburetor of debris. this will increase the efficiency of the procedure.

Carburetor device

A carburetor is a mechanism that is responsible for preparing a mixture of fuel and air, which is then fed into the engine cylinder. Most chainsaws have very similar carburetors, so they are set up in the same way.

The main structural details of the chainsaw carburetor:

  • Aluminium case. Aluminum is chosen as a material for its low weight. Chainsaws are a tool that must always be held in hand and carried, therefore, reducing the weight of the tool is a very important task facing the manufacturer.
  • Diffuser and choke, which are located at the inlet of the carburetor.
  • Jets. valves that provide metering of fuel that is supplied to the carburetor.
  • Sprayer, which is responsible for injecting fuel into the chamber.
  • Fuel chamber.

Chainsaw carburetor adjustment

Chainsaws are a very popular gardening tool. They have gained great popularity among gardeners and those who care for the territory in the local area. Chainsaws are not complete without construction or repairs. Chainsaws are even more important in the lumberjack profession.

Any chainsaw requires proper care, maintenance and adjustment before use. Overloading the tool can shorten its useful life and damage the tool.

Today we will talk about that part of the chainsaw mechanism, the task of which is to prepare the fuel before it is fed into the engine cylinder. This function is performed by the chainsaw carburetor. It will depend on him how well the chainsaw works and how much fuel it spends during operation. If you see that the petrol chain saw is not working properly, the carburetor may need to be adjusted.

Acceleration check

If you press the gas button of the chainsaw, the engine should increase the number of revolutions. This should happen quickly enough. If the tool is gaining speed slowly, loosen the screw L a little, no more than 1/8 of a turn.

When the adjustment is completed, you need to re-check the operation of the chainsaw at idle. the engine should work properly, and the chain should remain stationary. If the engine runs unstable or the chain moves, you need to repeat the adjustment, omitting the basic setting step.

Basic carburetor adjustment

Screws H and L must be turned clockwise as far as they will go, and then unscrewed 2 turns in the opposite direction. This is the standard procedure for setting up popular chainsaws for the first time. Other options are also possible.

At the house, this is at the house. As I understand from the videos, the main contingent of customers does not come to repair the tool, but to buy a new carburetor, or for some other spare parts, and as a result, the trip ends with repair.

Sergey, why is your right thumbnail beaten off for life? You are right-handed! Happy Victory Day!

@Steel Beetle you had a video somewhere where you cleaned the grooves under the rings on the piston, or grass trimmer, or saws. I cannot find it by search. give a link or name.

@Steel beetle tell me what better to take a Carver chainsaw or about craft. Give advice. Thank you for the answer.

What are you driving on the Carver? I took an excellent saw, though I set up the carburetor itself by the tachometer. After cutting down and sawing the chain for firewood, I even sharpened the chain but bought a calm chain. The filter had to be finished though. and what you can buy for 4300 right now. It’s just that its smallness needs to be brought to mind, and everyone whose hands do not grow out of their hands will be happy to buy.

I don’t need such a Chinese bullshit.

Wake up to work with a two-handed. Or friendship. Then we will give you a good saw if you learn to work. But you will not take it, the plan is many times greater.

Sergey tell me please is worth taking Champion241

Happy Holidays! I used to regulate on mine a month ago

Yeah. And this horseman will look at your vidos and hear about himself everything that you say about him 🙂 Mouzon class

And he didn’t lie, he regulated the carburetor. Happy Holidays.

Happy Victory Day! Again the carburetor! The beetle is burning! Do you know how.

As though the chainsaw is called this and did not say which chainsaw it was fake.

@ Altai Territory 22 russ repair of chainsaws. even with a different carburetor, she remains “gypsy”. Actually about this and the video

@Alex Dubovik if it is possible to install a primer, then it is necessary to change the carburetor; the gypsy chainsaw does not have a fitting for the fuel hose to the primer.

@ Altai Territory 22 russ repair of chainsaws. on my “gypsy” there is only a stamp for the primer. So if you want, you can cut a hole and put in a primer. Only drank from this “gypsy” will not cease to be.

@Alex Dubovik gypsies usually sell chainsaws without primer.

Happy Victory Day! Help me figure it out. I got a Patriot RT2512 a couple of months ago. He worked somewhere in his tank. 3. Today I’ll make a drink for a kebab, but it keeps high speed. A fresh mixture is fine. It doesn’t throw off even after blowing. What to do.?

There, in Rostov, someone needs to make something for the market, I love it so much

Hi, I took a Chinese at a traffic light for 3 rubles. Everything is good except for the chain and tire for the season of the furnace in shit.

@Eugene K. In Leroy was half a month ago. Saws have risen in price. From 6500 rubles go. Caliber 2800. I saw screwdrivers in a traffic light on Mokva. In Chernitsyno, another traffic light was opened recently. This is probably 5 or 7 in a row.

@Astra 46 in our traffic lights and in the lighthouse there are no benzo saws and never had, although the benzotrimmer I saw in the lighthouse in winter is now unlikely to be. and 3 r for a chainsaw is expensive, in Leroy from 3.5

@ Cho’gall There are 3 Traffic Lights in Kursk. Saws and welders missed. the welding mask for 540 rubles turned out to be normal. I didn’t notice the difference with expensive ones, about 5000 rubles.

@Astra 46 What’s the difference? The assortment is the same everywhere. Under what name do you take shit, it will be the same.

What city? I want to take the welder. No bells and whistles.

Happy Holidays !! What is the coming day preparing? Gnobyat?

Art. Bug. Happy Holidays. Health, happiness, success in work!

Respect. I read that the stars with a crown load the crankshaft and bearings. regular stars! Twice.

On the Chinese, the crown is close to the bearing. But the 180th model is far from the bearing. Plus there is one more tooth on the crown. The speed will be higher than the chain and cut. I saw, I work in two ways. The difference is only in the cutting speed.

Seventy-two times! Prof. saws do not have solid stars. otherwise it will be a waste. pasun.info/must/v/r67N27modZRrs5k

Blacksmith, what about the market in general, you will soon be unemployed. This is bad

Adjustment of the walk-behind tractor: carburetor, valves, fuel system

This article describes the adjustment of the walk-behind tractor, namely its main parts: the carburetor, valves and the fuel system. The process is not easy, so we have included some photos and videos as well. You can also read repair tips here.

Adjusting the carburetor of the walk-behind tractor

The instability of the engine speed of the walk-behind tractor indicates that the carburetor needs adjustment. The need to perform this procedure, as a rule, arises either before the beginning of the agricultural season, when the equipment has not been used for a long time, or, on the contrary, at the very height of the season, when the cultivator is subjected to significant loads for a long period of time. Before proceeding with the adjustment, it is necessary to warm up the engine. The work process itself looks like this:

  • The screws regulating low and maximum throttle are screwed in completely, after which they are loosened by about one and a half turns.
  • The motor is started with a starting device or manually, and warms up for about 10 minutes.
  • The lever that controls the operation of the power plant must be set to the minimum position. But the motor should not stop at the same time.
  • The throttle throttle adjusting screw will help to adjust the minimum idle speed so that the diesel engine is stable, without extraneous noise and stops.
  • The rotation of the screws makes it possible to accurately set the amount of combustible mixture that enters the motor.
  • Tightening the propeller enriches the mixture, while unscrewing it, on the contrary, increases the volume of air entering the engine.

Using the idle screw, adjust the maximum idle speed. The same should be done with minimum speed, using the throttle stop screw. The essence of such an adjustment is that the shutter screw allows you to adjust the angle to which it is closed.

The lever responsible for controlling the motor should be moved to the “throttle” position. If the operation of the cultivator still cannot be called stable, the full throttle screw is adjusted until a perfect stroke is observed. However, the maximum permissible propeller speed is 2.5.

The accuracy of carburetor adjustment can also be determined by how the spark plug looks after a short period of time under load. If the working mixture is ideal, then there will be neither carbon deposits nor traces of fuel on the spark plug, which indicate that the combustible mixture is too lean or, conversely, too rich. However, it should be noted that carbon deposits or traces of fuel on the spark plug can speak not only of incorrect adjustment, but also of more serious problems of the Chinese or domestic walk-behind tractor, including faulty ignition or cooling system.

Adjusting the valve clearance of the walk-behind tractor

Over time, with significant loads, the valve clearance of the walk-behind tractor engine changes. This may be due to wear on parts. Insufficient distance leads to the fact that the stages of gas distribution change significantly. As a result, it is not possible to achieve a sufficient compression ratio, and the power device works intermittently, without reaching the declared power. In especially serious situations, you can even observe the deformation of the valves. If the gap is too large, significant mechanical noises are recorded, the gas distribution phases also change significantly, the valves open for too short a time, due to which the cylinder does not fill up properly, the power drops, and malfunctions occur. Clearance adjustment is necessary immediately, as soon as the engine operation becomes incorrect or begins to occur with significant noise. Ideally, the engine being adjusted should be cooled down.

So, first you need to get to the flywheel. It is on this part that the value of the top dead center is marked. But to get to the flywheel, you first need to remove the casing, and before that, remove the oil bath of the air filter. It is possible to facilitate the task in the process of removing the casing if you fix all the latches with rubber bands. All bolted connections are unscrewed with a key, after which the cover can be removed without problems.

On the flywheel, you can see marks that indicate TDC, as well as values of 5, 10 and 20 degrees. The 20 degree mark indicates the injection of the combustible mixture. The flywheel should be brought under the top dead center, focusing on the appropriate division. The valve cover is unscrewed and removed.

In the process of adjustment, you need to use the following tools:

According to the technical data sheet, the valve clearance of the walk-behind tractor engine is from 0.1 to 0.15 millimeters, and therefore, with the help of a blade, it can be adjusted very accurately. However, you need to pay attention to the fact that some blades are 0.8 mm thick, which is unacceptable. The exact value can be found with a micrometer or on the manufacturer’s website.

The adjustment is carried out as follows:

  • Use a screwdriver to loosen the nut, insert the blade and begin to tighten.
  • Focus on the blade and tighten the nut gently.
  • Adjust until valve free play is eliminated. It should fit snugly enough.
  • Reassemble the casing and place the oil sump in place by hand.

If all manipulations are carried out without errors, then the engine will run smoothly and without unnecessary noise.

Adjusting the fuel system of the walk-behind tractor

If no fuel is supplied to the cylinder, the first step is to check if there is enough fuel in the tank. You also need to check whether it goes to the carburetor. For this, a hose is removed from the inlet connection of the device. If we are talking about a carburetor of the K45 type, you should press on its quench so that the fuel begins to pour out through the drain hole.

If the fuel does not enter the carburetor, then you need to turn off the fuel supply valve, completely disassemble it and remove accumulations of dirt from the mechanical filter. To achieve maximum cleanliness, all components must be treated with gasoline. The fuel cock is assembled and returned to its original place.

If fuel enters the carburetor, but is not supplied to the cylinders, it is necessary to check the correct operation of the fuel valve, as well as the presence of dirt on the jets.

To deal with the carburetor of a gasoline walk-behind tractor of the KMB-5 type, you need to remove it from the engine and pour out the fuel from the float chamber. Through the fitting (see figure), with the help of which the gasoline is supplied, it is necessary to supply the air mixture, having previously installed the carburetor in the operating position. The passage of air should go unhindered, and when the carburetor is turned over, it should completely stop. These features indicate the full performance of the part.

Details in the figure: 1. fuel supply connection; 2. upper body; 3. throttle valve; 4. idle needle; 5. jet; 6. lower body; 7. air damper; 8. screw fixing the tie; 9. maximum gas needle; 10. spraying element; 11. float; 12. fuel supply valve.

The fuel level inside the float chamber can be adjusted using the float tab. Ideally, it should range from 3 to 3.5 centimeters.

To purge the jets, it is necessary to unscrew the screws responsible for full and low throttle. Cleaning the carburetor parts begins by unscrewing the screws that hold the upper housing. The lower body is removed, the fuel supply valve is flushed with gasoline, and the dirt from the nozzles is blown out by a pump. It is necessary to check if the float is intact. It is absolutely impossible to use rags in the cleaning process.

After completing the cleaning, the housings are connected. It is necessary to check that the spray tube is clearly inserted into the hole located on the upper body. Open the throttle valve and check how well the assembly is done. The screws that secure the upper case are tightly tightened. After the assembly process is completely completed, the carburetor should be adjusted. This will significantly improve the performance of a heavy walk-behind tractor with attachments, since for correct operation, perfect adjustment of all its parts is required.

If the carburetor DM 1.08.100 is installed on the engine of the cultivator, then the procedure for adjusting it will be as follows:

  • Tighten the idle screw 10 until it stops and unscrew it half a turn.
  • Then tighten the full throttle screw 9 and completely unscrew it 2 turns.
  • Unscrew the screw 4 minimum engine revolutions right up to the stop of the lever against the bore of the carburetor body and tighten 2 turns.
  • Start the engine of the walk-behind tractor, and then adjust stable operation at maximum speed after warming up with screw 9.

Do not disengage the engine control lever. Move it to the position of minimum throttle (revolutions) and by unscrewing screw 10 set stable idle revolutions. This completes the setup.

That, in principle, is the whole repair. The main points of adjusting the main parts of the walk-behind tractor are considered. Use our manual (instructions) and prevent faults. Enjoy adjusting your single axle tractor or cultivator!
