Charging storage devices made of different materials differs in the following aspects:

  • rated voltage, current and recovery time;
  • the need for a charge-discharge cycle;
  • storage features;
  • possibility of recharging at incomplete discharge.

Charging parameters are indicated in the instructions for the tool and the battery label. The rated voltage is a multiple of the voltage of 1 supply element and depends on the number of cans.

The cycle of full discharge and charge is necessary to restore the nominal capacity when the “memory effect” appears. It is recommended to repeat the procedure several times.

Making a homemade charging block

A homemade unit can be soldered on the basis of a “native” charger or a device with similar charging parameters (for example, a laptop power supply). The charging unit consists of the following elements:

  • transistors;
  • fuse;
  • capacitor filter;
  • electromagnetic relay;
  • LEDs for rectifier and indication;
  • microcircuits (for example, HCF4060BE, CD4060);
  • Zener diode 12V.

To protect against overheating, you can add a sensor in the form of a thermocouple to the circuit, and a small radiator to cool the charger circuit.

Batteries are made up of several parts:

  • Feeding elements (banks). They are located inside the case and are connected in series with each other. The drive of an electric screwdriver consists of 10 elements. Inside each of them are positive and negative electrodes, electrolyte and contacts that connect the cell to other banks. The service contacts equalize the charges in all cells.
