So, the materials that will be needed for pasting the windshield of the Lada, besides itself: a degreasing compound, a primer for glass sealant, the sealant itself for gluing the glasses (one sealant bottle per glass), adhesive tape for fixing the already glued glass, an activator (this is the composition for applying the old sealant to the remaining strip) and a powerful gun (preferably a pneumatic gun for the sealant).

Padding. The primer dries very quickly. It is applied on a hard surface (body, glass) in one layer and only on places free from residues from the previous glass of the sealant. It is not recommended to apply the primer on the remains of the old sealant due to the fragility of the primer to be dried. Before applying a new sealant, you need to go over the remnants of the old sealant with an activator, and if it is not there, then simply degrease the surface of the residual strip of the old sealant.

Degreasing. It doesn’t matter what to use: the degreaser included in the set for pasting glasses or the good old anti-silicone degreaser.

Important! After gluing and fixing the windshield with tape, until the sealant has risen (several hours), you cannot slam the Lada doors, otherwise the blow will displace the glass from its correct position.

How to change glued glass on a car.

A huge number of cars, including modern domestic ones, have long appeared on our roads, on which the front, rear and side non-release glasses are glued in, and make up the power circuit of the body. The next operation will be to separate the glass from the body. To do this, you need to make a hole in the glue layer, right under the edge of the glass, (you can use an awl), in order to pass a thin steel wire through this hole (you can use a guitar string). Having passed a string through the hole, we tie wooden sticks to its ends, for the convenience of work. Start cutting off the glue with a string, preferably from the bottom corner of the glass.

Next, we slowly lead the string along the edge, cutting the glue seam (an assistant is desirable). Having cut the seam along the entire perimeter, we take out the glass. If you have it badly broken, then remove the fragments that remained after removing the glass. It is more convenient to start cutting the rear or side glass from the bottom corner, with both string holders on the outside.

After removing all the fragments, you need to cut off the old glue seam with a sharp knife, leaving a layer of old glue only 1. 2 mm. Then we will need to thoroughly degrease (with anti-silicone) the edge of the new glass around the perimeter, where the new glue will be applied, as well as thoroughly degrease the window opening itself around the perimeter.

The set for gluing glass includes a tube with glue, an extrusion gun (as for silicone), a special degreaser, a special primer.

It remains to carefully attach the new glass to its place, and for this it is advisable to use suction cups. It is desirable that at this moment, the assistant would hold (accept) the glass from the passenger compartment and direct it to its place. Applying glass to the window opening, we make sure that the glass gaps between the body panels are the same along the entire perimeter. Having finally checked these gaps so that the glass does not slide down, we put pre-prepared wooden wedges under it.

To reliably press and fix the glass when gluing, a car camera from a wheel and a pair of wide boards will also help. To do this, we lay the deflated chamber in the middle of the glass, and then a couple of boards must be laid on it (across the glass). Then, using a rope passed through the salon, we press (tie) the boards to the camera. It remains to pump up the car camera a little, and the glass will reliably press against the window opening.
