How to remove the bearing from the anchor of a power tool: a few practical tips

How to Remove Bearing from Anchor Drills

Today, many home craftsmen and professional craftsmen have a whole arsenal of power tools that help to cope with household and repair-construction tasks. Rotary hammers, jigsaws, angle grinders, drills. all of them greatly simplify and speed up work. However, it happens that the power tool fails. Do not rush and send it to the trash because of this. In connection with intensive operation, the parts wear out, so the equipment cannot work in normal mode. If you know how to remove the bearing from the anchor of a power tool, you can extend the life of your "assistant". Timely replacement and lubrication of parts allows you to operate the device for a longer time.

The main task of a power tool engine is rotation. An anchor is that important part of the device that makes the working mechanism rotate. The life of the part depends on the power and speed, as well as the activity of the equipment. Bearings are needed to reduce friction while parts are moving. They provide smooth rotation and improve the stroke of the working mechanism of the power tool. If bearings are monitored and lubricated in a timely manner, their service life is increased several times.

How to remove the bearing from the anchor in order to check its performance?

Due attention must be paid to the condition of the bearing on the engine of the power tool. When it wears out above the permissible limit, overheating occurs, and the motor starts to run noisily. If you do not remove the bearing from the anchor in time, then in a running form during rotation, the stationary and moving parts will begin to touch each other. And this, in turn, threatens serious damage to the electric motor. In this case, a replacement of the rotor or anchor will be required. Checking the bearings is quite simple. To do this, install the engine on a solid surface, put a hand on top of it and rotate the shaft. The rotor should move freely, not jam. If you hear scratching sounds or feel uneven rotation, this will be the first call that it is necessary to remove the bearing from the anchor and eliminate the malfunction.

In any bearing there are backlashes, that is, gaps. Their presence is quite acceptable, but it is important that the indicators do not go beyond acceptable limits. It is necessary to check the backlash:

  • radial or longitudinal. To do this, put the engine on a solid surface and try to deflect the shaft in different directions with your hand. The amount of displacement depends on the size of the part. For household models of power tools, deviations should be barely noticeable;
  • axial. The check in this case is simpler. You must take the shaft with your hand and pull it towards you or push the rotor in the opposite direction. In household appliance engines, deviations should not exceed 3 mm. The closer this indicator is to zero, the better.

If during disassembly of the electric motor you notice traces of friction of parts, then there has been a wear of the bearings. Immediately remove the bearing from the anchor and replace the parts. This will avoid negative consequences in the form of engine failure or complete failure of the tool.

How to remove the bearing from the anchor angle grinder?

Today, home and professional craftsmen use several methods to solve this problem. If it becomes necessary to remove the bearing from the anchor, an angle grinder or other tool can be done using such devices:

  1. Pullers. These are special devices that allow you to easily and safely remove from the anchor angle grinder bearings of different sizes. The use of pullers practically does not require the use of physical force, even if the bearing is tightly seated. Thanks to the centering mechanism, simultaneous installation of the device grips is ensured. It can be used in any position. Before removing the bearing, it is necessary to clean the armature shaft of the angle grinder from old grease, chips, sand, so that nothing would interfere with removing the part. The centering mechanism allows the puller to precisely take its seat. If the bearing is intact, and the dismantling process is carried out for revision, it should be pulled by the inner ring so as not to damage. For large anchor shafts, an angle grinder uses a massive puller with three or four gripping legs, and for small shafts, devices with interchangeable plates or slats are suitable.
  2. Hammers, chisels, wrenches and other improvised tools. In this case, to remove the bearing from the anchor of an angle grinder, it is heated with gas, squeezed with a vice, grind, chop and perform many other operations. These methods, of course, can be effective, but there is a big risk that the seat of the part will be mechanically damaged. And often the bearing itself after such manipulations without a puller will be unsuitable for further use. In addition, the contractor may be injured as a result of contact with pieces of the clip that are scattered after strikes in the face, eyes or head.

As practice shows, pullers are more effective in this situation. They allow you to quickly, easily and without much risk remove the bearing from the anchor of the power tool and inspect the parts or replace them. If you have to periodically carry out such operations, you should get such a useful device. The use of improvised devices is permissible only if you have experience repairing power tools and urgent replacement of a part is required.

Features of bearing mounting on the motor armature

After you have successfully managed to remove the bearing from the anchor, you need to carry out a number of necessary manipulations before assembling the equipment. If you are installing new parts, they must be exactly the same width as well as the inside and outside diameters with the old bearings. It is important that during installation no dirt or dust gets inside the product, because this can lead to corrosion, chips and various kinds of damage. The bearing is anchored using a metal pipe, which must first be lubricated. In the process of pressing, it is important to ensure that there are no distortions. You should also observe the following nuances:

  • Lubricate bearings with a special grease. It can be moisture resistant;
  • only ½ (for equipment with rotation up to 300 rpm) or 1/3 (for faster tools) of the bearing chamber is filled with grease. It’s not worth adding more substance, because all the excess is still squeezed out during rotation.

Sometimes the process of bearing bearing anchored is simplified if it is preheated in boiling oil. However, you need to be very careful in this case and make sure that the part does not heat above 100 0C.

How to remove anchor from an angle grinder

angle grinder successfully solve problems for processing a large number of types of materials. The difference in the modes of their processing, work in conditions of increased dust formation from abrasive particles contributes to the failure of components and parts Angle Grinder. Often enough rotor malfunctions, as one of the main elements of the electric drive. The rotor is repaired after complete disassembly of the angle grinder, where it is a separate unit not connected with other elements. Information on how this disassembly is performed in this article.

The principle of operation of the engine angle grinder

An angle grinder integrated into the construction is used as a converter of electrical network energy into mechanical energy. induction motor. It is distinguished by the presence brush collector assembly, where the stator brushes are in contact with the collector lamellas and supply current to the rotor windings connected to them. Further on the conductor (rotor) located in the electromagnetic field formed by the stator, forces act in accordance with the laws of this field, which actually make it rotate.

Anchor device

The rotor is a assembly in the form of a shaft with bearings on bearing assemblies. Placed on the shaft round core, in the grooves of which are wound coils of copper, coated with insulation wire. At one end of the shaft collector, on another. pinion gear, which transfers the torque to the working spindle angle grinder.

How to determine the fault of the angle grinder

Serviceable rotor for Makita UShM 9069 MAX. Photo 220V

One of the operational advantages of induction motor motors is preservation of spindle revolutions when changing load. Therefore, according to external signs (frequency of rotation, tonality of sound during operation), it is almost impossible to determine the operation of an angle grinder with overload. The main factor here will be angle grinder temperature, the increase of which is not immediately noticeable when working with gloves.

It is high temperature that is the reason why fusion of insulation on the rotor windings. Engine will start work intermittently and eventually stop. During overheating, the angle grinder can solder the contacts of the rotor windings with the collector, which leads to to an open circuit. The presence of inter-turn winding closure makes it possible to rotate the shaft in different directions.

In the presence of increased sparking (as a cause of interturn circuit of the rotor windings or its poor contact with the collector) in the brush-collector assembly, checking the operation of the electrical part angle grinder.

Diagnostics starts with a visual inspection all elements angle grinder. Sequential analysis allows you to fully examine all structural elements from all sides. Shot from an angle grinder anchor must be inspected under bright light. Melted wires with traces of burning, wire breaks, violation at the joints of the windings. the presence of such defects requires repair of the rotor or its replacement. You can also pay attention specific odor from burnt insulation.

If the external inspection does not give results, the search for the causes of the malfunctions continues with the help of the continuity of the electrical circuits with devices (multimeter, short circuit indicator and others).

How to remove the rotor from the gearbox angle grinder, step-by-step instructions, necessary tools, video

To remove the rotor, use public locksmith tools and accessories: hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, pullers, brushes with soft bristles, wipes for cleaning parts and others. The operation procedure is the same for all models, differences arise due to the design of individual units and parts. It is performed as follows:

  • brushes are removed from the holders of the holders in order to maintain their integrity;
  • the gearbox is separated from the casing of the electrical part;
  • the gearbox cover is removed;
  • a nut is unscrewed or a retaining ring is removed that fixes the driving small gear on the rotor shaft;
  • the anchor is removed along with the gear and bearing (options without bearing and gear are possible);
  • bearings are removed by a puller in the presence of a large backlash and the need for replacement;
  • all parts and assemblies are wiped with a brush with soft bristles and napkins.

The following video shows complete disassembly angle grinder model Bosch. It just shows the general disassembly procedure without detailing individual operations.

Detailed repair Makita model angle grinder with the replacement of a failed rotor, the author describes in the next video. The rotor defect is clearly visible during visual inspection. In the model Makita angle grinder removing the rotor and assembling the angle grinder after replacing it made technologically simple without the use of special devices.

In the next video spindle stuck onto the angle grinder of the DVT model. The cause of the defect is rotor bearing crumbled, located in the gear housing. When removing the rotor from the gearbox, the pinion gear is released by loosening the locking nut. The author shows with concrete examples what consequences for the rotor and other parts an angle grinder can lead to work on faulty bearing supports.

In the review, the Spark model angle grinder in the next video is made complete disassembly of all components of the angle grinder. The author, who has extensive experience in repairing grinders of various models, gives brief characteristics of the design features of some assembly units and parts. So celebrated easy removal by hand of the rotor angle grinder from the gear case.

However not all models manage to remove the rotor from the gearbox without problems. In the following video on the Interskol model angle grinder, some users perform this operation with targeted damage to some parts, for example, the impeller. The author describes another option without sacrificing design for details angle grinder, based on knowledge of the laws of physics. The difference in the inertial properties of elements with different masses is the basis for the method described in the video. A heavier rotor, using the force of inertia, leaves the seat of the lower bearing race.

Repair of the angle grinder of the Electric appliance model is described by the author in the next video. Here the reason for the wear of the steel brushes failed rotor bearings. To replace them rotor was removed from an angle grinder. The process of removing from the gearbox in the video is missing. The author in the comments claims that pressed the bearing out of the gearbox. However, designs where the bearing is fixed in the support using plates screwed to the gear housing, this method is not suitable. Here apply the method described earlier using the inertial properties of massive parts or by making a technological hole in the impeller through which the fixing plate fasteners are unscrewed.

Video: How to Remove Bearing from Anchor Drills

The following video describes gearbox repair with replacement of worn gears, why it is necessary to remove the rotor. This operation performed with a hammer (necessarily wooden or rubber!). Light impacts on gear housing pressing out rotor bearing. Important: with a tight fit, it is possible to damage some parts of the bearing housing.

At home pullers cannot always be found, which are specially designed to press out bearings or other parts of a certain size. In some designs of bearing assemblies, the use of pullers is not provided at all, there are completely different approaches to solving the problem of removing the anchor.

How to remove bearings at home

This approach, for example, is used when removing the rotor from the gearbox in the next video, during repair angle grinder model Stern. Fixing plate does not allow to remove the bearing by direct extrusion. The method was previously mentioned in the text. unscrew plate fasteners through technological holes in the impeller. The author of this video uses this method.

The lack of “regular” pullers can be compensated by similar devices used in other areas of technology. In the next video, this puller taken from the automotive industry, where it is used to remove ball bearings.

In the absence of any removable devices, you can try to remove the gear housing from the bearing by impact. The author of the following video, when repairing one of the Makita models, did it.

Bearing replacement

During troubleshooting, a common defect is increased clearance of rotor bearings. To avoid big trouble should be replaced.

When replacing rotor bearings to the DVT angle grinder at home in the next video any means at hand are used. Rotor extruded using a metal rod screwdriver and wrench supported by the tide inside the gear housing. Performing this action is not very convenient, but in the end it reaches its goal.

In the next video further developed way untwisting the fasteners of the fixing plate to the housing of the bearing reducer through the technological holes in the impeller. Since the impeller is plastic, it’s effective burn holes heated rod, for example, a nail. To maintain balance, it is recommended make two holes at once.

Collector replacement

Replacing only one collector will not solve the problem. Completely soaked anchor when removing the collector will damage the windings remaining on the rotor. The new collector is practically impossible to adapt to the old terminals of the windings. Therefore, it is better to rewind new windings at the same time when replacing the collector. The most technically simple option (much more expensive) is to completely replace the rotor.

How to remove the bearing from the shaft without a puller?

Bearings today are used very widely. Their varieties can be listed for a very long time. There are constructs that can simultaneously provide the distribution of not only radial, but also axial loads. Naturally, the resource is produced at increased mechanical stress faster. Sooner or later, it’s time to replace the bearing with a similar one. Recall that if shells from corrosion appear on the bearing paths or wear is visible to the naked eye, it is absolutely not recommended to perform restoration. In any case, such a bearing will not be able to provide the original characteristics.

The difficulty lies in the fact that it is not always possible to find a bearing suitable in overall dimensions on the market. Here, thrust radial bearings are presented in the entire line of sizes. It remains only to purchase the right one and carry out its replacement. However, experience shows that removing an outdated bearing is not as easy as it might seem at first glance.

Should I use a puller?

Pressing the bearing onto the shaft is quite simple. By and large, this can be done without special tools. Things are completely different with the dismantling of radial bearings.

Today, the market can provide a special tool.

It allows not only to quickly dismantle the part, but also not to damage it.

Recall that in our case we are talking about replacing the bearing as a result of technical wear. Therefore, to maintain its structural properties does not make any sense.

All that is required is to remove the bearing from the shaft and not damage the shaft itself, its geometry. The point is, blunt hammer blows will only make it worse. There is a more technological way to remove the bearing without the use of special pullers.

You can’t do without welding

It is important to note that it is far from always possible in principle to use a puller for a bearing, even if it is at hand. The general design of the mechanism does not allow the puller to crawl.

It is recommended to proceed as follows:

  • an eye is welded onto the outer ring of the bearing;
  • it is important to put on the link of the steel chain in advance on the eye;
  • Be sure to protect nearby structural elements of the mechanism from getting hot metal droplets during welding.

All that is required now is to attach the opposite end of the chain to something very solid (weight not less than 50 kg) and pull off the bearing with translational sharp movements in the axial plane.

The video clearly demonstrates the above method for dismantling any radial bearings:

How to remove the bearing from the generator armature

So I got such happiness, and even lucky. the bearing in the back cover simply crumbled (I saw it was great to blink), why the bearing was divided into two parts. two cages, and several residual balls. The inside of the hard worker remained anchored:

But this is not so bad. the main problem is that the external clip is at its workplace in the back cover:

Honestly, I did not want to buy a new generator because of this, repair bearings are much cheaper. Well, we will reinvent the wheel.

With the clip at the anchor everything went quite simply, since it is in full view. He polished it a bit on emery (almost to the axis of the anchor) from two opposite sides to loosen the metal. With the help of a vise, a chisel and a hammer, the process of lifting began. I hope it is clear that you need to beat in places unprocessed by emery. The clip went lazily, but halfway burst and flew off without any further intervention. Alas, I could not take a picture, but I think this moment is understandable enough for a person repairing a machine with his own pens.

I had to tinker a bit with the back cover. I don’t have any strippers, and I don’t think that you’ll crawl over to him there. I had to solve the problem harshly, but efficiently. Knowing the diameter of the bearing, calculating the distance from the center of the axis of the armature to the cage, I drill two holes (4mm). Through them, with a punch, I knock out the cage. the remains of the former bearing. and set it straight:

If the distance from the first drilling attempt was poorly calculated and you didn’t directly get into the holder, I think that you can try to drill a bigger hole, or drill a new one. Perhaps the small diameter of the punch allows you to solve the problem at an angle. The punch should be selected from metal stronger.

After the generator is assembled, it makes sense to cover it with cold welding, at worst, with plasticine or chewing gum.

as remove the bearing from generator without puller

In general, after washing the motor, the generator bearings rustled, my patience was enough for a week. I read in the internet the info on substitution, I learned that there are 5 types of bearings: 201, 202 and 301, 302, 303, 2 types of front and 3 types of rear, or, on the contrary, I do not remember exactly. He drove into the Rook decided to buy 202 and 302 they came to me at 105 rubles, more worried that they did not fit.

Here they are:
Came to friends in the service began to shoot. I unscrewed the upper tensioner pin of the generator, removed the belt, unscrewed the bolt on the generator, removed the terminals from it, began to unscrew the lower bolt of the generator mounting, but it doesn’t come out, rests on the spar, unscrew the generator mounting from the block 3 of the bolt by 15. Finally, he is the culprit celebrations. We remove the relay controller (brushes) by unscrewing 2 bolts.

Remove the plastic cover from the generator, see diode bridge. It is mounted on 4 bolts. This is a very important point. 3 bolts to which the terminals from the winding are attached, they have a textolite washer (it turned out later on by trial and error), which prevents the winding from shorting to ground.

Unscrew 4 bolts remove diode bridge. Next, we insert a screwdriver between the blades and the generator body and very carefully unscrew the pulley mounting nut. We unscrew the 4 bolts that connect the 2 parts of the housing to each other, after spraying everything with the inside. I personally managed to unscrew only one bolt with an ordinary screwdriver. The rest was unscrewed with an impact screwdriver.

Video on how remove the bearing without puller with anchor generator.

We put 2 marks on both parts of the case so as not to mix it up later, unscrew the 4 bolts, now from 2 sides between 2 parts of the case we put screwdrivers and try to open it. The back is removed there from the plastic sleeve is easier to get bearing. The back part was removed, we lay the front part of the generator with the anchor between 2 bricks, we screw the nut to the end, and beat on top so that take off Anchor with bearing. In the end, it should turn out like this. We take the front part tighter, lay on something solid, take the head at 30 or 32, put on bearing and we start to peel that there is urine only gently so as not to break the front of the case.

Take further puller for generator bearings, without it it will be very hard take off rear bearing. Take off bearing. We take a caliper and Meriom old and new bearings. Hurray, I was lucky to buy those that are necessary! We examine the contacts of the anchor, where the regulator (brushes) are pressed, if there are grooves, then we finish with sandpaper. We look at how to check the health of the generator in the Murzilka. We press on further bearing in the front of the generator body, with the same head for 30 or 32 powerful blows, we take a chisel and in a circle core bearing, you will see the grooves there.

We put the anchor in the front cover, lay down again between the 2 Kerpichs, put on the back bearing and carefully, with powerful blows to the center of the bearing we press it into the stop. Dress the back cover winding terminals through her. Here, too, the main thing is to orient winding terminals on mounting a diode bridge. Dress up diode bridge, bend winding terminals to it and we twist 4 bolts, 3 bolts with textolite washers we twist where winding terminals, take a tester, check if the winding closes with the case, if not, then everything is screwed correctly. We dress the relay regulator, a plastic boot, fasten in place generator, we tighten the belt, start it, see if the battery discharge lamp on the dashboard is on.

KZATE generator from 2112. How to remove the rear bearing from the rotor shaft (anchor)? There is no puller, I tried to pry and raise the bearing with two keys at 17 (open-end), but it does not work. Who can advise what? And another question, is it possible to replace the bearing? That is, instead of 203, put 202?

If there is no puller, then it would be nice to have a vice. But it is possible without adaptations. Here’s a video (you can watch about disassembling the generator itself immediately from the 10th minute)

Regarding the replacement of the bearings indicated by you. it will not work. They are of different sizes. In different years of the vehicle’s production, different generators and, accordingly, different bearings were installed.

Instead of 203, you can 6203. Instead of 202, you can 6202.

If there is no puller, then you can remove the angle grinder by carefully cutting the outer, then the inner race.

If it doesn’t work as in the video, then the outer cage can be removed by breaking a separator, a plate that holds the balls, with a prong or a strong screwdriver. In addition, some break the outer cage with a strong blow. it is not made of steel, but of hot iron, it shatters into fragments.

The inner clip will have to be cut on a sharpener, or an angle grinder, on the one hand and cut into the cut with a hammer on a chisel, for bending. With a good blow, too, fall apart.

How to Remove Bearing from Anchor Angle Grinder

How to remove the bearing from the anchor of a power tool: a few practical tips

Now many masters not professional masters have a whole arsenal of power tools that help to cope with the tasks of internal non-repair construction. Hammers, jigsaws, Bulgarians, drills. they greatly simplify and do not accelerate the work. But it happens that the power tool is out of order. Because of this, take your time do not send it to the basket. Due to the saturated introduction of wear parts, respectively, the equipment is not able to work in normal mode. If you understand how to remove the bearing from the anchor of an electronic tool, it is necessary to extend the life of your “assistant”. Timely replacement of non-lubricating parts allows you to use the device for a longer time.

The main task of the motor of a power tool. this is rotation. An anchor is a fundamental part of the device, which forces the working mechanism to spin. The service life of the part depends on the power not the speed of rotation, and naturally on the activity of the equipment. To reduce friction at the time of the movement of parts, bearings are needed. They provide smooth rotation; they do not make the working mechanism of a power tool better. If the bearings being monitored are not lubricated on time, their service life is significantly longer.

How to remove the bearing from the anchor to check its performance?

The condition of the bearing on the engine of the power tool must be given due attention. When it falls above the permissible limit, overheating occurs, not the engine starts to work noisily. If the bearing does not fit right off the anchor, the non-moving, non-moving parts will begin to touch themselves during rotation. This amounts, again, threatens the severe destruction of the electric motor. This requires the replacement of the rotor as it is also called reinforcement. Checking the bearings is quite ordinary. For this purpose, you need to install the engine on a hard surface, on top, put your hand do not turn the shaft. The rotor must move freely, not grab. If you hear scratches as it is also called, you feel uneven rotation, this will be the first call to remove the bearing from the anchor and not eliminate the malfunction.

There are gaps in every bearing, i.e., gaps. Their presence is completely acceptable, but it is important that the characteristics do not go beyond the permissible limits. Check out the game:

  • radial or longitudinal. To do this, mount the engine on a hard surface and try to rotate the shaft in different directions. The amount of movement depends on the size of the part. For household models of power tools, deviations should be barely noticeable;
  • axial. To register in this case is more simple. You must take the shaft by hand and pull yourself or push the rotor in the opposite direction. In household appliance engines, deviations should not exceed 3 mm. The closer this indicator is to zero, the better.

How to remove the bearing from the Bulgarian anchor?

Today, home and professional craftsmen use several methods to solve this problem. If necessary remove the bearing of anchors Bulgarians or other tools can be made using such devices:

  1. pullers. These are special devices that allow you to easily and safely remove angular grinder bearings of different sizes from anchor bearings. The use of pullers practically does not require the use of physical force, even if the bearing is firmly installed. Thanks to the centering mechanism, the grip of the device can be attached at the same time. It can be used in any position. Before removing the bearing, it is necessary to clean the shaft of the anchor bolt of old grease, chips, sand to prevent removal of the part. The centering mechanism allows the stripper to precisely fit the seat. If the bearing is intact and the dismounting process is carried out for revision, pull it out by following the inner ring so as not to damage it. For large anchor shafts, the Bulgarians use a massive stripping machine with three or four grippers, and for small ones, devices with interchangeable plates or rails.
  2. Hammers, chisels, wrenches and other impromptu tools. In this case, to remove the bearing with the anchor of the Bulgarians, it is heated by gas, compressed by teak, sewn, cut and performs many other operations. Of course, these methods can be effective, but there is a great risk that the seat of the part will be mechanically damaged. Yes, and often the bearing itself after such manipulations without a stripper will be unsuitable for further use. In addition, the performer may be injured in the face, eyes or head parts of the clip, which fly away after being hit.

As practice shows, tenants are more effective in this situation. They allow you to quickly, easily and without much risk remove the bearing from the anchor of an electric tool and inspect parts or replace them. If you have to periodically perform such operations, you should purchase such a useful device. The use of improvised devices is permissible only if you have experience repairing power tools and you need an urgent replacement of a part.

Features of pressing the bearing at the motor anchor

After you successfully remove the bearing from the anchor, a number of necessary manipulations must be performed before assembling the equipment. If you are installing new parts, they must be exactly the same width and the inner and outer diameters aligned with the old bearings. It is important that when installing inside the product there is no dirt or dust, as this can lead to corrosion, the appearance of chips and various damage. The bearing is attached to the anchor using a metal pipe, which must first be lubricated. In the process of pressing, it is important to ensure that there is no distortion. It is also necessary to observe the following nuances:

  • grease bearings with a special thick substance. It can be moisture resistant;
  • grease is only filled ½ (for equipment with rotation up to 300 revolutions per minute) or 1/3 (for more high-speed tools) of the support chamber. It is no longer necessary to impose more substance, since all excess is still squeezed out during rotation.

The bearing mounting process is sometimes simplified if it is preheated in boiling oil. However, in this case, you must be very careful and make sure that the part does not heat above 100 ° C.
