How to saw a stone at home

The diamond cutting disc cuts through stone like a whirlwind.

Let’s continue to deal with tools and tooling and today I will tell you what you need a diamond cutting disc for, what kinds there are, let’s run through the and manufacturers so that you know what discs to buy. I hope that each of you has an angle grinder is an indispensable tool for most jobs, where you need something to cut or grind. In this article let’s break apart discs for angle grinder, because you can cut stone at home only with angle grinder.

Many people mistakenly believe that once a diamond disk, they can saw everything, and he did not do anything. This view is fundamentally wrong, above all, such a disk is designed for cutting stone brick (sand-lime and red), concrete, marble, granite, slate, paving stone, tile and porcelain tiles. Of course, there are expensive professional discs for reinforced concrete, which cut concrete with rebar inside as if by oil, but they are very expensive, in my next articles I will tell you about them.

So, an ordinary diamond cutting disc for angle grinder for stone only. For size, I think you can not say, of course, you know that the cutting discs are 115 mm, 125 mm, 150, 180, 200 and 230 mm. The average size is also rare, most often people have a 115-125 mm small angle grinder and 230 mm large angle grinder. So what kinds of diamond cutting discs are there, let’s deal with them, because many people, when they want to buy a diamond wheel, don’t even know what they need and in general they can cut. For daily use in everyday life the segment diamond wheel is perfect (for dry cutting). You may see below the photo how it looks like.

Segmental diamond blade for dry cutting

The disc has segments around the circumference to keep it cool. Remember once and for all diamond disk should be cooled, only then will it last long time in good faith. And many people buy a disc for dry cutting and saw a continuous line in the concrete for 10 minutes without stopping this is a flagrant violation of the rules of operation of a diamond disc, if they continuously saw for at least 3 minutes, the diamonds will instantly become unusable. So, try not to cut more than 2 minutes continuously, or better yet, not more than 1 minute. Saw for about 30 seconds, take the saw blade out of the kerf, wait until it stops, then saw again.

You can saw any bricks (white, red, fireclay), slate, paving stone, asphalt, marble, granite with the disk for dry cutting (I immediately noticed that the natural stone needs to saw with special circles, but as an option you can cut and such, if not constantly). Also, with a certain amount of skill, you can cut tiles with a segmented diamond disc, although there are special solid diamond discs for wet cutting for tiles. The segmented disc is not very suitable for cutting tiles, it jumps around because of its segments. Tiles need a solid disc.

The second most popular disc is the combined disc, the Turbo as you see in the photo below, it is solid, but the cooling is done by the wave design. This saw blade can cut any stone, and is more universal, but costs more than a segmented blade. Such a disc cuts tiles without any chips, even dry. It is also convenient to saw bricks and any other stone.

Since we are considering diamond cutting discs for home use I will not tell you about the expensive, super high quality professional circles, we will analyze inexpensive discs for home use. Because many people buy them just for once and then they lie idle on the shelf in the garage. Why pay a lot of money if you only need to cut a couple of times. So we will save our money.

Of the best-selling and most popular household diamond wheels I will mention Zubr, we generally switched over to them because they are completely in the price-quality category, moderately expensive and very good quality. Also good circles firm Sparta and Matrix well-known household brands, inexpensive, for the home it is best.

I’m often asked if you can cut iron with a diamond wheel?

The answer is yes, I used to saw, but only when the diamond blade was not mine, but my employer’s.) If I bought the disk for myself, I would not cut iron, because the diamond of the cutting disk gets clogged with iron dust, much faster than stone dust. And in general it is written in instructions of some models not to cut metal! Of course, if the situation is that you need to cut fixtures and metal cutting disc is not available at hand then you can make a couple of cuts a diamond wheel, but no more than that.

Is it worth buying a diamond cutting disc when you can buy an ordinary stone disc??

There are also such questions. Answered by. It all depends on what you are going to cut and to what extent. Stone dry-cutting discs (Meadows green), are a penny 35, but they are just awesome cuts in sand-lime brick (white) and marble. They cut like butter. That is why my opinion it is not worth buying a diamond disc for cutting white bricks. On the other hand, if you plan to cut a lot, then it is definitely better to buy a diamond cutting disc, because it is simply unbreakable, and a simple dry cutter is worn out (if you did not know)). If we need to saw a red brick it is very strong, simple circles on it burn instantly, just like on the concrete, so there is only one option to buy a diamond disc, preferably segmented.

If a diamond cutting disc is treated with care, it will last a very long time, especially when used at home.

By design, the existing tools are divided into 2 groups:

The second option provides better quality, but the ropes are part of the machine. This is the reason why it is used in industry for cutting stone of large sizes. This machine allows you to cut any stone of any density and size. This is because the ropes contain diamond segments, which is the hardest stone.

Discs can be used in a domestic environment. The most effective tool in this group is the diamond wheel. Cutting stone at home is most often done with an angle grinder. Using a diamond wheel, you can cut the stone to a small depth of 130 mm.

At home the material is also cut using a circular saw. Such tool contains diamond blades. it is used for deep work (up to 1200 mm). Varieties of equipment:

The first option is used in the home, due to its compact size. Working with such a saw is difficult, it is necessary to exert considerable physical effort. It is expedient to use it when a small amount of material needs to be processed (1-2 products). The fastest cutting speed is provided by diesel fuel equipment and electric saw. It is necessary to have skills to work with such a tool, t. к. not only damage the stone being cut, but also injure a person.

Electric saw is equipped with a drive, so all work on the fitting of the material it performs independently with the indirect participation of a man is required only to control the direction of the cutting edge. a chainsaw works on a similar principle. It is fuel-powered and equipped with the highest output. There are many differences between these methods, but they do have one thing in common: a cutting edge with diamond flecks.

There are 2 varieties of saw: stationary and mobile. In the first case, the equipment is not designed for transportation, it allows to work with the material of large size. Key components frame, motor, cutting edge. Mobile saws are more maneuverable. Compact in size, but less productive.

there are other applications in addition to cutting, for example, for engraving. In this case, the tool plunges into the structure of the stone only partially, thus creating a pattern. Available technology:

  • Creation of rocky texture, which is achieved by force (shearing). This technology is used on certain types of stone.
  • Thermal method. In this case a thermal blasting machine is used. Heat is applied to the material.
  • Polishing, satin finish. These are methods of making the stone smooth by using a grinding wheel.

Of the many ways of cutting choose the waterjet version. This method has the advantage of being able to work at home. It is realized by means of a cast-iron wheel. The surface of the grindstone is processed by an abrasive slurry with the addition of water. The stone is then rubbed against the cast iron. This method removes unnecessary areas. It is used for single-piece fitting. There is another option of waterjet cutting with a special machine. Water and powder are dispensed through a nozzle. This version allows larger stones and larger quantities of material to be processed. The video shows a simple method for use at home:

Laser cutters for stone

There are different types of machines for cutting granite, marble and other materials. No noise and dust is generated when working on stone. The advantage of this type of equipment is the absence of cutting discs, which periodically need to be replaced. Hard materials can be cut with a laser cutter by high-temperature exposure. Material is heated up to the point where it begins to melt, then the excess material is removed.

This type of equipment is characterized by low power, but its efficiency is high. This is because the machine concentrates the energy in a single point. The laser cutting machine works like a milling machine: controlled by a computer program, it produces a fine cut. 0.1 mm of material is removed in a single cut. If a deeper cut is required, the program repeats. It must be kept in mind that different types of stone will react differently to laser cutting.

Ultrasonic engraver

This type of equipment is used in the final stage of material processing. It is used to engrave and restore stone products. The operating principle is based on oscillating waves. In doing so, a slight vibration is created. Ultrasonic equipment is characterized by small dimensions. In most cases it is used in industry, small business. Power of such equipment is minimal.

Diamond cutting

This method allows you to make a smooth cut without splintering. The risk of cracks in the product is low. There are many types of stone processing and adjusting equipment:

  • Hand-held cutters (angle grinder) with a cutting edge diameter of 200 mm or less
  • Special machines with guiding elements, large-sized disks;
  • Joint cutters equipped with a diamond cutting edge.

To give the stone the desired shape, a diamond cutter is used. This type of abrasive is used for sanding.

How to Crack a Rock: A Pro’s Secret

Nuances! If you do not keep a sledgehammer at home and there is no place to get it, you can use a chisel or a regular heavy hammer with a short handle. Regarding the chisel, it is desirable that it has a tip of carbide metal, as it should withstand a blow on a very hard stone.

Tips for properly splitting wild stone with your own hands:

  • A cobble stone, especially a large one, should be placed in a hole in the ground.
  • Place the chisel against the rock, and swing the hammer progressively, moving the chisel as the boulder begins to pound.
  • The wild cobble begins to splinter after at least 10 hits.
  • Never forget the safety rules. Their observance will allow you to keep your hands and feet safe. Use gloves (such as canvas or construction mittens) and large boots on your feet, preferably. Wear a welding mask for face protection.
  • The most important thing! Make sure there are no pets or relatives standing near you so you don’t get hurt by any splinters or ricochets.

How to cut stone with an angle grinder?

The diameter of the wheel directly depends on how thick the material can be cut, as well as how powerful the angle grinder will be.

How to Cut Stone with Hand Tools | Ask This Old House

For example, 76 mm diameter discs used in cordless angle grinders. The depth of cut when using them is approximately 20 mm, but if we take into account the grinding, then such a variant is not suitable even for cutting granite tiles (15-20 mm). Plus we should not forget about versatility.

Disc diameter of 115 mm is more common. This is the minimum size for chain angle grinder (angle grinders, or, in common parlance. grinders). The depth of cut with this blade is 25-30 mm. You can use it to cut through tiles without any problem. It’s also good for artistically cutting marble and granite. However, due to its relatively shallow cutting depth, it can hardly be called a universal blade.

The most popular variant is a cutting disc for “angle grinder” with diameter of 125 mm. This version combines the best qualities: cutting depth of 35 mm allows to work both with facing tiles and slabs up to 30 mm thick; it is excellent for artistic cutting; weight and size allows to work comfortably with this disc for a long time “by weight”.

In addition to the abovementioned, there are less popular cutting discs with diameters of 150 mm, 180 mm, 200 mm, etc.д. But I would like to give you the cutting disc with a diameter of 230 mm. These are used by professionals and are suitable for continuous work. They are indispensable in the manufacture of funerary objects: cutting depth. 70-80 mm allows making unique shaped monuments with their help.

Master class How to split stone

This master-class on splitting large stones turned out very spectacular, all spectators take part in it with pleasure. At first we were very skeptical and did not believe that it was possible to split a large rock so easily

But when the whole process is demonstrated and a crack begins to run through the entire cobble-stone it arouses interest. When the huge, inconceivable stone falls apart, it is already desirable to try to do it independently and to check whether there is a catch

This time, we were testing a new tool for splitting boulders (photo below). For this purpose, the most ordinary stone in the field was chosen, around which a group of participants gathered:

We tested a product called MaxDinamit Cement, which is a safe and economical alternative to the use of explosives.

On the photo Fedorov Andrey, demonstrates the process of sawing and preparing the stone for the main action. All manipulations with the stone took place in an open field, so we specially brought a power plant.

By the way, the tool used was the most common household one, which every craftsman has.

A saw cut was made in the stone to the full depth of the disc and about half the length of the visible part of the hammers. In addition, a wider groove (double kerf) was made in the middle section so that the experiment with hammers could be performed

Hammers were used instead of wedges, but they could not be used at all. This, in turn, shows the purity of the experiment with MaxDynamite cement.

After showing everyone that it was impossible to break the stone with the tool at hand, they turned to the new tool, MaxDinamit Cement.

MAXDINAMIT CEMENT is a special compound designed for demolition of rock masses and monolithic reinforced concrete structures in environments where the use of explosives is impossible and unsafe. Destruction occurs due to volumetric increase in the process of hydration of the material. MAXDINAMIT CEMENT is a safe and economical alternative to the use of explosives.

This product has the ability to expand by 70%-90% of the original state, depending on temperature. Accordingly, the higher the temperature, the faster the expansion process.

The technology of use is the simplest. Drilled blast holes and poured into them maxdiamant cement. From here on all that remains is to wait.

In this case, we sawed through the stone, but also tried with boreholes also works :).

Pour a mixture of maxdiamant grout into the made kerf and leave it for some time:

Already in the evening a crack was visible on the stone, which made everyone very happy. In the successful outcome of this activity, few believed.

Maxdiamant cement itself turned into a powder. Т.е. it does not harden as cement, to which all used to, and after its main reaction, it remains loose and easy to scrape.

It’s actually surprising that such a small amount of this compound has such devastating power.

The stone has cracked all the way through and you can see the crack on the other side of the cobble:

With little effort, the boulder was defeated and fell in two halves.

By the way, you can see here that it is not such a small stone:

All of the participants are excited and waiting to continue:

This photo shows the depth of the initial cut:

Here you can see that the penetration depth is much less than the main body of the cobble, but it is enough to break such a big stone.

So we can say with confidence that splitting a granite stone with home conditions is no longer a problem. With this task perfectly copes such a tool as MaxDiamant cement.

According to all the rules of the master class, a commemorative photo with the date of the experiment

Now that the entire process of cracking the stones has been demonstrated, everyone is willing to do it:

It became clear that it is possible to chop stones in any way you want without applying much effort.

Trying to separate the central part of the cobble:

For the master class, you need a lot of boulders, so that everyone had the opportunity to try, saw, prick and learn the technique of splitting boulders.

That’s why new boulders were rolled up on the tractor:

Everyone observes the process with interest

Deciding to saw the stone yourself, you should prepare for the work beforehand. So, processing should be carried out in a separate well-ventilated room (necessarily a fume hood type) with a constant supply of water. These preparations will reduce the amount of inhaled stone dust that is generated during cutting, as well as cool the tool.

Depending on the type, the stones have a soft and hard structure. In the first case, the tool used for working with metals is sufficient for processing. For rough cutting, however, you need an angle grinder, equipped with a special attachment in the form of a disk.

And the highest performance has a saw with an electric drive, and high power is demonstrated by gasoline models. In addition, angle grinders are of two types:

stationary. include a frame, motor, transmission and cutting element,more often used for professional cutting;

manual. mobile and maneuverable, used for domestic purposes.

Saw for stone processing is equipped with a special diamond-coated disk. When choosing a model it is important to understand that an increased number of revolutions leads to rapid heating of the tool and reduces the quality of diamond plating. As a consequence, the nozzle will have to be replaced twice as often.

If the stone will be polished after machining, it is advisable to prepare epoxy resin and other substances beforehand.

  • Cast iron plate used in abrasive machining;
  • special machines with an electromechanical drive;
  • A tin tub in which to collect the water, and a table to set the stone in.

In addition, for water supply you will need a special tube (diameter about 0.5 cm, length. 1.5 cm), on which a rubber hose is put, connected to the water supply.

Preparing for work and the actual process

Four angles with holes are fixed on the surface of the tray (the lower ones fix it to the frame, the upper ones. to the table). To reduce the splashing of water during treatment, you must first fix on the plate 1X10 cm canopy made of tin.

stone, home
  • set the bath without fixation on a statin;
  • fix a cutting wheel, 10 cm in diameter, on the axis with nuts;
  • fix a table on the tray;
  • Center the wheel and secure the tub with bolts;
  • connect the water and check the operation of the entire mechanism.

To make the cut with the angle grinder precise and without wasting time on grinding, it is advisable not only to hold the stone flat, but also to mark the cut line on it with a marker beforehand. To make working hard rocks easier a mechanic’s hacksaw with a diamond wire installed can be helpful.

There is also a special saw for cutting stone. a modern tool widely used in construction. According to the principle of operation, such a tool is divided into manual, diesel, electric. And on the field of application. into industrial, construction and jewelry.

The optimal option for home processing are models of the manual type, characterized by simple operation and low cost.

Getting to work, you should consider such nuances:

Determine the thickness of the stone to be sawn. It allows you to choose the right technique.

There is no need to save on consumables (diamond tools). Despite the strength, the stone belongs to the delicate materials and when processing dikal for iron or concrete, chipping and cracking are formed.

When cutting, it is advisable not to saw the line all the way through (leave the comb). And then turn the workpiece and continue the work in the same place.

Always use coolant, which not only prevents the rapid failure of the tool, but also will not allow the blackening of the material. “Dry” only discs with laser welded segments or turbo type are allowed to be used.

When choosing a disk, you must decide on your priorities: high output or a precise cut. So, using solid discs, you can get a precise cut. And using the segmented ones. speed of work, but a large number of chips.

Decorative stone is often used in interiors, the appearance of which differs little from natural stone. The same tools are suitable for machining it as for concrete with an angle grinder). In addition, if it is necessary to make a hole, you will need a screwdriver, an electric screwdriver or a drill.

Sometimes it is necessary not to cut the stone, but to split it in order to obtain an irregular shape. Depending on the technique, there are several ways to do this: piercing, splintering, breaking, and undercutting. A sledgehammer, hammer, chisel, wedges, and power tools will help with this difficult task

The solution: cutting, using home and power tools

To break the stones you need: wedges of different sizes and lengths, a sledgehammer, a hammer, iron strips. Looking at whether the cobble is big or small, and its hardness and rock, determine the size of wedges. Then you need an angle grinder with a diamond disc.

  • Cut a horizontal opening of a few centimeters into the stone using a long-handled pick and a blade (chisel).
  • Then put several iron strips in the resulting cut, so that in the gaps between them could be placed wedges of each other within 10 cm.
  • You need to hit the wedges until the rock is split into separate plates.

Have a look at the video. The master demonstrates how to break a cobblestone with wedges during an experiment.

Important! When using a sledgehammer, remember that its strength lies not in how far you swing, but in how to properly grip the handle. Therefore, place your hands toward the end of the handle, because the force that splits the cobblestone in this impact is many times greater than if you were to hold the handle right at the metal base (the knucklebone).

The second method of cleaving is more complicated, but the end result is certainly pleasing, as the pieces are smoother and require less work and polishing. Using a sledgehammer, the pieces are uneven and often jagged.

The physical qualities of decorative stone

Four types of artificial stone are used in interior design:

Decorative stone on a cement and plaster base have an uncomplicated manufacturing process. It is not difficult to arrange in a construction site or a small cottage industry. It is reduced to mixing the prepared components, mixing with water and pouring into molds with subsequent drying. By adding a suitable coloring agent, the desired shades of material are obtained. Decorative stone made of cement is moisture resistant, durable and not afraid of moisture.

Continuation of the above advantages is a relative disadvantage. the specific weight, close to the corresponding parameter of natural finishing materials. It is used for external works: finishing walls of the house with a stone, paving paths, in small architectural forms and sculptures. Decorative stone of gypsum has less weight compared to cement, it is easier to install on the walls of the house, but does not have high strength and moisture resistance. It is used indoors.

Porcelain stoneware and acrylic stone. materials, production of which is possible only in a large factory. Implementation of appropriate technological processes requires complex expensive equipment, qualified personnel, a large stock of raw materials and, consequently, a well-established system for marketing of the finished product. For the consumer here is a positive point in a relatively guaranteed quality of products. Large-scale production must strictly control the conformity of their products to GOSTs and TU.

Porcelain stoneware, although it does not contain a grain of natural granite, has very similar properties to it. It is made of homogenized, t. е. homogeneous mixture, white clay, chamotte (kaolin), sand, feldspar, pegmatite and water. The material is molded and takes the desired shape by means of semi-dry pressing followed by firing. Firing temperature 1200-1300 ° C. It is used mainly in places where it would be appropriate to use natural stone.

Acrylic stone in appearance is more similar to marble, sometimes, in accordance with the design decision, to malachite. The structure consists of mineral fillers. the crushed marble or granite waste, dyes and acrylic resins. After the components have been mixed, two processes are possible: extrusion or casting. The first way is more productive. The second. it was mastered earlier. is more simple in the equipment and allows you to get the product in almost any shape, not just moldings.

Acrylic stone is often used in kitchen equipment for countertops. an example of extrusion, and in bathrooms. for baths. this is molding.

Stone cutting tools

In terms of hardness, decorative stones can be divided into two groups: harder ones. porcelain stoneware and cement-based stone, and less hard. acrylic stone and gypsum stone. Two kinds of tools are used to cut them in finishing work on the construction site.

Decorative stone of high hardness is cut by the fast rotating disk installed on the angle grinder, called in common parlance “angle grinder. There are two types of discs: abrasive, reinforced inside a fine mesh mesh and metal discs with diamond coating. Diamond discs are considerably superior to abrasive discs in durability. Make it possible to work faster and stay on the same disc longer. They are much more expensive.

Gypsum and acrylic imitations of decorative stones are noticeably softer. Therefore, they can be cut with a fine tooth saw. Saw blade can be installed in a metal hacksaw. The more productive tool is an electric jigsaw. The file in it should also necessarily have a fine tooth, ensuring the removal of a thin layer of material in one pass. The small thickness of the removed layer, reduces the load on the cutting tool, increases the purity of the cut and makes the work more productive.

These stones can also be cut with an angle grinder, but the gypsum dusts a lot. In addition, because the gypsum stone is fragile, it can be broken, like glass, by making a deep indentation in the desired location. As a tool in this case use homemade cutters with a sharp hook-shaped end. The question “What is used to cut the stone??” admits several answers. The answer to it gives the finisher on a particular workplace, based on prevailing conditions and personal experience.

What to cut a natural stone. Choice of technology

In the age of steel, glass, concrete and composite materials, it would seem absurd to talk about using natural stone on an industrial or any other scale. However the market reality easily refutes such assumptions. The eternal human craving for beauty and longevity, and nature generously endowed natural stones with these qualities, not only saved, but also significantly increased the demand for materials and products made of them.

Today, when to buy granite, marble, onyx and other materials is not difficult, on the agenda are the issues of quality of their processing. Making such popular items as kitchen countertops, window sills, stair steps, the basis for which is a slab of polished granite, requires the use of modern technology of cutting and processing stone.

Technology

Relatively new technology, the widespread use of which is directly related to the invention in the 50s of the last century of the method of obtaining artificial diamonds, and subsequently methods of applying them to the cutting tools. Two types of saws are used in the machines designed for sawing natural stone:

  • Straight (longitudinal). made from alloyed steel, working length of 2.6-4.5 m, thickness from 4 to 6 mm, the diamond cutting elements (segments) are soldered onto the carrier blade, cutting speed is within 25-50 cm per hour, they are used for sawing large-size plates and blocks of gabbro, granite and other hard rocks;
  • discs. a steel disc with a solid or segmented cutting edge, sizes from a few centimeters to 2.5. 3.0 meters, the diamond segments of the discs of large size must be replaced after use, used both in industrial and small-scale production (paving stones of gabbro-diabase, paving slabs, facade slabs of granite).

The use of diamond cutting technology significantly reduces energy costs, increases speed and productivity of the process.

Is a refined and improved version of the well-known technology of hydraulic cutting, used in the coal industry since the 30s of last century. The main difference and the idea of the invention itself is the use of the energy of the water jet mixed under high pressure with abrasive fine powder. Thin, less than 1 mm in diameter, accelerated to supersonic speeds, such jet can easily cut materials of any hardness. metal, plastic, granite, concrete, ceramics, gabbro-diabase.

Machines that use HAP technology are available both with manual and numerical control, the latter significantly increases the quality and precision of the cut. Consumables are abrasive (garnet) sand, purified and treated water, replacement abrasive nozzles, and pump station gaskets.

one of the advanced technologies based on usage of property of ionization of inert gases at high temperatures (about 5000 o C) and converting them into low-temperature plasma (up to 30000 o C). Plasma cutting devices (plasma torches) use an electric arc to produce plasma, through which gas is passed. The narrow plasma jet emerging from the nozzle at a speed of about 1500 m/s melts the material at the point of impact almost instantly, enabling high-speed cutting of stone, metal and other materials.

The technology is similar to plasma cutting in that it uses a high temperature to pierce through the stone, but the difference is in the way the temperature is produced. This uses energy from the laser beam to accurately heat a very small area, causing the material to vaporize and create the cut. Laser cutting devices allow you to adjust the power of the beam by selecting it according to the properties of a particular material.

Advantages

As can be seen from the description, each of the technologies allows you to perform the task of cutting tough and superhard materials. To understand and make the right choice, it is necessary to know the advantages and disadvantages of each of them. Let’s start with the advantages:

  • good cutting quality. due to high cutting speed;
  • great depth of cut. when using diamond wire is almost unlimited;
  • efficiency. due to the use of multi-saws, the possibility of replacing worn diamond segments instead of completely replacing the blade or blade of straight saws;
  • cost-effectiveness. due to the affordable cost of the main component (technical diamonds), advanced manufacturing technologies of cutting segments and their long service life.
  • no heating of stone. no heat generation
  • arbitrary shape of the cut. with software controlled cutting;
  • very high accuracy. due to the small thickness of the jet and the absence of chips when cutting;
  • finished products do not require additional processing.
  • There are no restrictions on the types of materials to be cut;
  • high cutting speed (up to 7 m/min);
  • minimal waste;
  • compactness of the cutting devices (plasma torches).
  • precision cutting accuracy;
  • ability to cut materials of small thicknesses;
  • cutting products of any shape;
  • limited heat-affected zone;
  • minimal material loss,

Disadvantages

Virtually every technology has its disadvantages, which must be considered both when purchasing equipment and when placing orders for sawing.
