How To Work With A Screwdriver

Can a drill be used as a screwdriver

The screwdriver can also be used as a drill. The chuck mechanism makes it possible to firmly fix the drill with a cylindrical tail. To get started, you need to install a drill in the chuck.

Be careful, as the structure is not designed for making holes, especially for hard wood, metal or concrete, because there is a high probability of failure of the planetary gear.

How To Work With A Screwdriver

How to use a screwdriver?

It often happens that you cannot do without a screwdriver. The screwdriver is an indispensable assistant in the manufacture of a false ceiling, installation of drywall. Repair work is complicated if you do not have a screwdriver at hand with which you can easily tighten screws and fasteners. In the household sphere, it is in demand no less than in professional activity.

  • How to unscrew a chuck on a screwdriver
  • How to charge a screwdriver
  • Screwdriver bits: which are better
  • How to remove a drill from a hammer drill
  • Choosing the right drill driver

However, not all tool owners know how to use a screwdriver correctly. There is nothing difficult in this, the main thing is to adhere to some rules and recommendations for beginners.

Tool types: characteristic features

The screwdriver can be classified into the following varieties:

  • Drill driver
  • Wrench
  • Cordless screwdriver
  • Standard screwdriver

The principle of operation of the tools is similar to each other, but there are still differences in functionality.

The drill-driver is able not only to tighten the screw, but also to drill a hole. The impact wrench is specialized in bolts and nuts. The third representative is a cordless screwdriver, designed exclusively for tightening / unscrewing fasteners with a cross head. The latter type is characterized by low power, in contrast to the above.

How to work with a screwdriver

After completing all the settings, you can start using the power tool. Having studied the operating instructions of the screwdriver, you can prevent possible malfunctions during the handling of the device, thereby increasing the service life of the tool.

It is not allowed to adjust the frequency and direction of rotation of the nozzle when the device is on. Do not touch grounded objects with the power tool, otherwise a person may get an electric shock. Do not use the device for a long time, as it may burn out.

The room in which it is best to use the screwdriver should be well lit, and the power supply constant, without surges, this will avoid equipment malfunctions. Work should take place in specialized clothing and only with serviceable tools.

How to change / insert / pull out an accessory (bit), drill

After the desired nozzle (bit) for the drill has been selected, taking into account the size of the screw head and the configuration of the recesses (straight, cross), it must be installed in the very center between the open cams, and fixed in the chuck by turning the sleeve clockwise. If a key type chuck is selected, then the key is installed in the recess on the chuck, and then rotated hourly until the attachment is secured. The end of the bit fits into the groove in the screw. Before starting the device, check the accuracy of setting the direction of rotation, the direction should match the screw.

Increasing the pressure on the start button regulates the optimum rotation speed. When the screw is fully immersed, the force limiting mechanic is activated and then the drill stops.

What does a screwdriver consist of? Device setup.

In the plastic case there is an engine and a gear mechanism that drives the bit, which is installed at the end of the screwdriver. The device is provided with a start toggle switch, a direction and speed switch, a diode illumination and a puff time regulator.

The operating principle of the tool is very simple. The nozzle, previously fixed in the chuck, moves with the help of the shaft, which starts to move from the operation of the motor through the gearbox. Before using the screwdriver, you should find out if the battery is charged and if the correct attachment is installed.

Immediately before doing the work, you need to look after such a nozzle so that it matches the head of a self-tapping screw or screw.

To install the desired nozzle, you should select it according to the size of the head of the fastener element and fix it in the magnetic chuck holder. First, the cartridge with the coupling must be removed from the device, and after fixing the bit, the cartridge must again be fixed to the screwdriver body.

Then you need to assign a suitable bit rate. The adjustment is carried out using a special regulator. The required mode is set in the off state of the instrument.

Before using the power tool, it is necessary to correct the screw-in depth of the fastening element. After some time, it may be necessary to replace the magnetic holder. To change it, the cartridge, magnetic mount and coupling are removed. Next, the cartridge with the coupling is fixed back into the screwdriver block housing.

Design

The tool consists of a housing containing a motor and a gear mechanism; chuck (clamp for replaceable drills); battery or cord to connect the device to the network.

Screwing and tightening fasteners

Instructions for using the device are simple:

  • Insert the tip of the nozzle into the slot of a self-tapping screw or screw, turn on the device.
  • To increase or decrease the tightening speed, increase or decrease the pressure on the start button.
  • When the self-tapping screw is tightened, the force limiting mechanism will automatically work, after which the work will stop.
  • To unscrew the screw, the nozzle is placed in the slot, after setting the lever for the direction of rotation of the nozzle in the opposite direction.

Features of operation

Incorrect operation and breakdowns can occur after switching the operating modes of the tool during the rotation of the chuck. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to perform all operations only after turning off the screwdriver and completely stopping the engine.

It is also necessary to correctly select the torque of the device, taking into account the hardness of the material with which they work:

  • Fiberboard and drywall. To screw screws into these materials, use 1-4 modes.
  • Hardwood. The regulator ring is moved to the maximum value.

Important! It is better to set a lower torque value than required. If you select an overestimated value after tightening the self-tapping screw, the screwdriver chuck will continue to rotate, and will not stop as expected. The slot will be damaged.

You can use a screwdriver as a drill only for a short time. Continuous loading of a tool that is not designed for drilling may overheat the motor, causing damage to the device.

Tool selection

The most important indicators to look out for when buying are the rotational speed and power of the screwdriver.

The rotation speed affects the functionality of the device. For tightening or unscrewing fasteners, tools whose speed does not exceed 350 rpm are suitable. For drilling, you will need devices whose rotation speed is greater than or equal to 1000 revolutions.

If you plan to purchase a cordless screwdriver, you should find out its type. The most common devices with lithium-ion cells are characterized by a long service life. It is recommended to choose them if the device will be used frequently.

If work using a screwdriver is rare, a nickel-cadmium element is more suitable. they are cheaper, not as prone to self-discharge as lithium-ion ones. Mains powered devices are also suitable for purely home use.

Additional parameters that will make working with the screwdriver easier and more convenient:

  • Illumination of the working area;
  • Torque boost used to drown fastener heads;
  • Impact mechanism;
  • Increasing rotation speed.

How to use a screwdriver: instructions for beginners

Screwdriver. a tool with which you can quickly screw in fasteners (screws, self-tapping screws, screws); it is used to assemble furniture, hang shelves, drill holes, and install a suspended ceiling or batten. To understand how to use a screwdriver correctly, you should learn more about how it works, what work can be done with it.

Preparation for work

Before using a screwdriver, you need to choose a nozzle that fits in size to the head of the fastener. For installation in a tool with a keyless chuck, the nozzle is pushed between the cams, the sleeve is turned clockwise. To fix the nozzle in the device with a key cartridge, insert the key nozzle into the socket, turn it clockwise until it is fixed.

The device equipped with a rechargeable battery must be charged, and the mains-powered device must be plugged in.

To make sure that the screwdriver is working properly, first turn it on idle. See if the direction of rotation of the nozzle matches the direction of the thread of the fastener.

How to use a screwdriver correctly

The screwdriver has a scale with which you can adjust the direct power of rotation. By turning the knob, you select the mode that you need depending on the work you intend to do. The same knob can be used to select the drilling mode. Just do not try to drill hard, concrete and stone surfaces with a screwdriver, so as not to damage it. There are specially designed tools for drilling hard surfaces. Do not switch the adjuster while the screwdriver is running. This can lead to malfunction of the instrument. Knowing how to use a screwdriver can extend its life.

Three operating modes can be selected using a dedicated switch. Twisting mode, unscrewing mode and screwdriver locking mode. The third mode is for safety. It is very convenient to switch all of these modes if you hold the screwdriver by the handle located above the battery. The handle is usually covered with a rubberized material and is therefore very safe to use. It ensures that the screwdriver does not slip out of your hand at the most inopportune moment. For more confidence, you can fasten the screwdriver to your hand with a special strap.

Using a screwdriver

Do not think that the screwdriver can only be used to drill, twist and twist screws. When repairing a car, you can unscrew and tighten nuts and bolts, grind with various surface attachments. Assembling furniture without using a screwdriver will take a lot of time. Hanging curtain rails or bookshelves with a screwdriver is much easier than running around with a screwdriver and putting in effort. So today the screwdriver has taken its place of honor among the most essential tools in the household.

How to attach a bit or drill

There are two ways to fix a drill or bit in a screwdriver. The first method is manual. The bit is inserted into the chuck and tightened by hand. The second method is to tighten the bit or drill with a rotating chuck, hold it with your other hand. It is very easy to check how you secured the bat. Try to tighten one self-tapping screw, and you will understand whether the bit is scrolling or not.

Safety engineering

Before using the screwdriver, be sure to read the safety information sheet included with the tool. This tool is often used in production. As a rule, the instruction "How to use a screwdriver" must be mandatory in labor protection acts. In order to prevent accidents when working with a screwdriver, you must follow all safety rules. Do not trust the tool to people who do not know how to use a screwdriver and cannot follow safety precautions. For example, children, elderly, sick people and people in a state of AL-KO intoxication.

Use this tool with protective clothing and glasses on. Remember that any tool, whatever it may be, is source of danger.

How to use a screwdriver: step by step instructions

Each person at least once in his life made repairs at his home or performed work related to the repair of his apartment or summer cottage. Today, a screwdriver is an indispensable repair tool. When buying it, be sure to find out the power, equipment, as well as the warranty period for this power tool.

How to use the screwdriver battery

Before starting work, make sure that the battery of your screwdriver is fully charged. Insert it into the charger and pay attention to the indicator. A green light indicates that the battery is charged. The red light indicates that it needs to be charged.

In order to increase the operating time of the screwdriver, it is enough to have a second battery. After the first is discharged and you replace it with the second, insert the first into the charger. After the battery is charged, do not keep it in the charger. This shortens the overall battery life. Also, the temperature of the room in which the screwdriver is operating is too hot or too cold has a detrimental effect on the battery life. One battery lasts five hours.

How to work with a screwdriver. setup stage

The design of the screwdriver is quite simple. The plastic housing holds the motor and gears that drive the bit. The bit is located at the end of the device. On the case there is also a diode illumination, switches for speed and direction of movement, a torque regulator, a toggle switch.

The principle of operation of the screwdriver is also very simple. With the help of a motor, a shaft with a chuck is driven through a gearbox, in which the necessary nozzle is fixed. Now that you have learned how a screwdriver works, you can learn how to use it. First you need to provide a safe working environment. It is also advisable to check if the battery is well charged. If everything is in order, then you can start work.

Before working with a screwdriver, you must insert the desired attachment into it. It is selected in accordance with the size of the head of the self-tapping screw or screw. To do this, you need to remove the cartridge and the sleeve from the device and insert the bit into the magnetic holder, which is then reinserted into the device and fixed in it.

The bit speed can now be adjusted. For this, a special regulator is provided on the device. It is advisable to carry out this stage before you start using the tool. To know how to work with a screwdriver correctly, you must first figure out how to change the direction of rotation of the spindle, for which there is also a switch.

Screwdriver design. briefly about the tool diagram

The presented tool can be networked and cordless, and according to the type of work, a drill-screwdriver, a cordless screwdriver, a wrench and a screwdriver are distinguished. All these tools have the same principle of operation, but perform different functions.

If a conventional screwdriver works only with fasteners, then a drill driver can also drill holes. The wrench is designed for loosening or tightening bolts and nuts. The cordless screwdriver has a Phillips bit. In terms of power, this device is weak.

It is quite difficult to work without the presented tool, especially if you have to tighten a large number of self-tapping screws. Arrangement of a false ceiling, fastening insulation or drywall to the surface and many other actions. that’s what a screwdriver is for.

How to use a screwdriver. note for beginners

How to use a screwdriver. sometimes an indispensable device in the economy and construction? It is a hand-held electric tool designed for loosening and tightening screws, screws or other types of similar products. We’ll talk about working with him below.

How to use a screwdriver. accuracy and safety

After the settings are made, you can start using the tool. To do this, the battery is connected to the device and the necessary work is done. Knowing how to use a screwdriver correctly, you can avoid unwanted actions when handling the device, which will increase its uninterrupted service life.

It is impossible to adjust the frequency and direction of rotation of the nozzle if the device is on and running. Protect the device from moisture penetration into it. The room in which the device will be used must be well lit, and the electrical supply network must be stable, without drops.

Do not touch the device to grounded objects, otherwise the user may get an electric shock. Do not use the device continuously for a long time, otherwise it will simply burn out. It is advisable to work only with a working device and in special protective clothing.

Screwdriver design

All types of drills are of the same type, including:

Cordless screwdriver diagram.

  • Split body;
  • Drill chuck;
  • Electrical and mechanical.

The chuck is used to install the drill and connect it to the rotating shaft. It contains 3-4 jaws, between which the drill is placed. The cams move by rotating the adjusting sleeve. Docking, i.E. Cams are brought together by turning the sleeve by hand or using a special key.

The electrical part consists of an electric motor, starting systems, reverse direction of rotation and engine speed control, as well as a power cord or battery. A collector single-phase electric motor is used as source of motion. A starting capacitor is installed to start the engine. The power supply to the motor is carried out through contact brushes fixed in holders.

The switch is usually designed as a start button. It is combined with an engine speed governor. The control circuit based on the transistor is made so that when the start button is pressed, the rotation speed of the motor armature increases.

Diagram of the gearbox of the cordless screwdriver.

The direction of rotation of the armature is reversed by changing the polarity at the input terminals. The reverse lever is brought to the body of the device.

The mechanical part of the screwdriver includes a gearbox, bearings and a force limiting mechanism. The gearbox provides the transmission of the rotational motion of the armature shaft to the main shaft, on which the chuck with the drill is mounted. The planetary gearbox contains a system of gears, satellites and carriers. The number of speed control steps depends on the number of satellites.

The force limiting mechanism is designed to optimize the load on the screw during tightening. When the screw is fully tightened, the resistance to rotation of the drill increases and the mechanism stops its movement. The whole mechanism can have up to 16 positions of force adjustment.

Choice of screwdrivers

Modern screwdriver designs have several modifications, determined by the purpose. The following main types of devices can be distinguished:

  • Screwdriver:
  • Drill screwdriver;
  • Wrench;
  • Cordless screwdriver.

If a conventional apparatus is designed only for tightening fasteners, then a drill-screwdriver combines the functions of drilling and tightening fasteners by expanding the speed range. The smallest device is a cordless screwdriver. The wrench is equipped with an attachment for tightening nuts and other hexagons.

By the type of power supply, screwdrivers can be divided into batteries and mains powered. Cordless devices have a great advantage in terms of mobility. They are usually equipped with nickel-cadmium and lithium-ion cells. By the drill fastening mechanism, one can distinguish screwdrivers with keyless chuck, and screwdrivers with key chucks.

Power and rotation speed are important parameters of the apparatus. Power can be expressed in functional parameters. soft and hard torque. The soft torque determines the maximum permissible load in the tightening mode, and the hard torque in the drilling mode. For ordinary screwdrivers, the first parameter is most important. So, at a torque of 30 Nm, the length of the screw to be screwed is limited to 70 mm, and at 40 Nm it increases to 100 mm, etc.

The rotation speed determines the purpose of the apparatus. When using it only in the mode of twisting or unscrewing screws, the speed is set to 350 rpm. If the machine is used in drill mode, the speed must be at least 1000 rpm.

Removable battery device diagram.

When choosing a cordless screwdriver, you should consider some of the characteristics of batteries. Modern imported devices are most often equipped with lithium-ion cells. Such batteries have a number of advantages, including. Sufficiently long service life. However, they tend to self-discharge, i.E. Discharged during storage. Screwdrivers with these batteries are great when they are used frequently. If they are rarely operated, it is advisable to use devices with nickel-cadmium elements, which are less susceptible to self-discharge and are much cheaper. Any batteries must be selected according to their capacity. The higher this indicator, the better the element is. If the screwdrivers will be used at home, where there is access to sockets, then it is better to choose a device powered from the mains.

When choosing an expensive high-quality screwdriver, you should pay attention to additional functions that will expand the capabilities of the device. These include:

  • Introduction to the design of the impact mechanism, which will help when unscrewing the socket heads;
  • Providing an impulse to increase the torque, which is useful when drowning the screw head;
  • Possibility of increasing the rotation speed up to 1000 rpm;
  • Illumination of the working area.

When choosing a cheap but sufficient screwdriver for home conditions, you can choose a device with a torque of 30-35 Nm and a mains supply or with a nickel-cadmium battery with a capacity of about 2 A / h.

The work of the screwdriver in the tightening mode

Diagram of installing a bit in a screwdriver.

Before starting work, it is necessary to select the desired nozzle (drill) according to the size of the screw head and the shape of the slots (straight or cross). The nozzle is installed in the center between the set cams and is fixed in the chuck by rotating the sleeve clockwise by hand. If a key type chuck is installed, the key is inserted into the socket on the chuck and rotated clockwise until the attachment is secured.

The tip of the nozzle is placed in the slot of the screw, the start button is pressed.

By increasing the pressure applied by the finger to the trigger, the optimum tightening speed is achieved. When the screw is fully screwed in, the force limiting mechanism is triggered and the drill stops. The finger is removed from the button. The screw tightening process is complete. Unscrewing the screw is done in the same way, but with the direction lever in the opposite position. The optimal value of the torque (power) when screwing the screw into hard and durable materials is set by rotating the torque regulator ring, on which graduations are applied corresponding to different powers.

How to use a screwdriver correctly?

The types of drills are a hammer drill and a screwdriver. If you need to tighten the fasteners, then you should learn how to use the screwdriver. All these devices are very similar to each other, but differ in purpose and have their own specific features.

The main purpose of the screwdriver is screwdriving.

This type of drill is designed for fixing screws. Recently, many people have recognized the convenience and usefulness of the apparatus. Those who have not yet had time to get to know him are wondering how to use a screwdriver correctly.

The correct use of a screwdriver can be divided into a number of steps:

  • Choice of apparatus;
  • Acquaintance with its design;
  • Operation and maintenance of the device.

Maintenance of the screwdriver

When working with a screwdriver, use only the attachments included in the kit.

The use of a screwdriver implies proper maintenance. First of all, it cannot be used to drill holes for a long time. For this you need to use a drill. The use of a screwdriver as a drill is allowed only in a short-term mode.

When tightening the screws, use only the attachments supplied with this unit. Do not install damaged attachments (drills). All rotating elements, as well as the inside of the chuck, must be lubricated periodically.

Check the charging of the batteries in a timely manner. To eliminate the "memory effect" of the battery, it is recommended to completely discharge it before recharging it. Store the device only in a dry place. During prolonged operation, the possibility of engine overheating should be monitored. Periodically, the device should be turned off until complete cooling.

When working with a screwdriver, you should have the following tools in stock:

  • Screwdriver;
  • Pliers;
  • Brush;
  • Brush;
  • Vice;
  • Calipers.

The screwdriver has a fairly simple design. Anyone can use it. But in order to correctly solve the question of how to use a screwdriver, certain rules should be followed.

Scope of application of the screwdriver

To use a screwdriver correctly means to perform with its help only those operations that are indicated in the operating instructions by the manufacturer of this product. The main (by purpose) for this tool are the following types of work:

  • Screwing in or out of fasteners of various types, including tightening and loosening bolts and nuts;
  • Drilling holes in materials of different hardness.

The use of a screwdriver for its intended purpose is the most common way of using this device, both at home and in construction, furniture production, electrical installation, and in the assembly and repair of cars. The scope of application of the product is not limited to these areas: a drill-screwdriver is useful wherever you need to work with fasteners (assemble to disassemble various structures, equipment, machines) and drill holes of relatively small sizes.

The scope of possible application of a particular model is determined by which category it belongs to: household or professional. A tool designed for home use is relatively cheap, has little power and torque. Household models have low performance, as well as limited functionality.

The drill-driver from the professional category has advanced functionality and high technical performance. Such a tool is designed for long-term, effective use for its intended purpose. It also has much wider possibilities for unconventional exploitation.

Features of drilling concrete, metal, brick with a screwdriver

Electric screwdrivers are used to drill wood, metal, concrete and other materials. At the same time, the functionality of the used model depends on its technical indicators: power, magnitude, torque, the presence of a shock mode of operation, and rotation frequency. The operating instructions contain precise instructions on whether a particular material can be drilled with a screwdriver. It also gives the maximum diameter of the holes to be created, and in some cases the restrictions on the depth.

A brick or concrete wall can only be drilled with a sufficiently powerful drill-screwdriver. In most cases, such devices can operate in shock mode. But drilling a concrete wall with a screwdriver, even of an impact type, is quite problematic. This instrument is only suitable for one-off operations. This laborious job is best done with a hammer drill.

In soft woods, even battery products from the household category are capable of creating holes with a cross section of up to 20 mm. Using budget models from the rating of the best electric screwdrivers in 2017, they drill various metals, including steel. In this case, the holes in diameter can reach 10 mm.

When working with a tool, the rotating drill should enter the material surface perpendicular to it. this allows you to evenly distribute the load on the equipment, create more accurate holes.

When drilling metal, it is recommended to first make a small depression in the center of the future hole using a core drill. This will prevent the drill bit from slipping on a smooth metal surface. If you need to make a hole of a sufficiently large diameter, then you should first drill a smaller one. Also, when working with metal, it is recommended to regularly lubricate the nozzle with a special compound.

When using a drill / screwdriver, it should be borne in mind that strong pressure should not be applied to it, because this not only will not speed up the work, but it can also damage the drill, as well as the power tool itself. The effort must be constantly maintained at the same level. To avoid jamming or breakage of the bit, you only need to remove it from the drilled hole when rotating. If, nevertheless, the drill is stuck, then you can get it out by reverse.

It is recommended to drill small parts after fixing them in a vice. If you have to make a through hole in a thin sheet of metal or in a thin piece of wood, then you need to fit even pieces of plywood or boards under them.

Unconventional use cases

In addition to its direct purpose, the electric screwdriver is used to perform various non-traditional operations. These include the following types of work:

  • Polishing a car and its headlights;
  • Stirring small volumes of various building mixtures and paints;
  • Drilling holes in ice (for this, the tool is equipped with a special nozzle. a drill);
  • Armature knitting;
  • Thread cutting;
  • Mowing the grass cover (for this purpose, they convert the device into a trimmer or lawn mower, or simply insert a nozzle with blades into the cartridge);
  • Chopping soft grass or thin branches (for this, a garden chopper is created on the basis of a drill-screwdriver);
  • Surface grinding;
  • Cutting materials;
  • Twisting wires.

This is a far from complete list of unconventional work performed with the help of cordless or networked models of electric screwdrivers. Inventive thought does not stand still. Almost every specialist has options for work atypical for this power tool.

Using a screwdriver, you can restore the car to its original color and shine. To polish the car, use the following types of nozzles:

  • Leather or fabric circles, with their help they perform the initial cleaning of surfaces;
  • Felt. they are used for initial processing and finishing polishing (nozzles made of sheepskin are suitable);
  • Foam.

Together with the equipment, polishing pastes and polishes are also used. They are of the following types:

  • Silicone;
  • Abrasive;
  • Non-abrasive.

Using similar tools, headlights are also polished.

Knitting of reinforcing rods using steel wire is very common in the construction industry for the construction of reinforced concrete (monolithic) structures, for example, foundations, houses. Even if there is a small amount of work to be done, working with a hand crochet or pliers is not quite productive. A cordless or cordless electric screwdriver equipped with a hook attachment will help to knit reinforcement much faster. In this case, the power indicator of the tool is not particularly important.

Twisting cut ends of wires, for example in junction boxes, is also quite a routine job. You can speed up the process with a screwdriver with a special attachment. How twisting is done is shown in the below:

Device and principle of operation of the screwdriver

By the way of power supply, screwdrivers are divided into two types:

  • Mains connected to 220 V mains;
  • Rechargeable batteries, using the energy of the accumulated charge.

The external and internal device of the network and battery models is almost the same. In general, a power tool consists of the following structural elements:

  • Housings;
  • Patron;
  • Power buttons;
  • Switch for the direction of rotation of the electric motor (reverse);
  • Speed regulator (number of revolutions);
  • Power-on lock buttons;
  • Tightening force adjuster (torque switch).

The photo below shows the design of a battery-type screwdriver.

A number of models are additionally equipped with backlighting, which is constructively implemented in different ways. Not every product has a speed controller and a power lock button. Networked electric screwdrivers have a power cord, while cordless ones have a charge storage device instead.

The body of a power tool is most often made of plastic, much less often from alloys of different metals. For convenience, it usually consists of 2 halves. Inside the case are the following main parts:

  • Electric motor (DC or AC);
  • Pay;
  • Capacitor;
  • Reducer;
  • Clutch.

The wiring diagram depends on the model.

The electric screwdriver can be equipped with different types of chuck. The most widespread is the quick-clamping three-cam version of this part. The cartridge also consists of separate parts, which are shown in the following photo.

The principle of operation of both network and cordless screwdrivers is the same. It consists in the fact that electrical energy drives an electric motor in rotation. Through the gearbox and the shaft, force and speed are transmitted from the motor to the nozzle fixed in the chuck. She is already drilling a hole or screwing in or unscrewing the fasteners. A feature of the process is that the electric motor for network models operates at an alternating voltage of 220 V, and for battery models. at a constant voltage, the value of which can range from 3.5 V to 36 V.

Correct use of the screwdriver

The screwdriver has successfully replaced not only various types of screwdrivers, but also wrenches, hex keys. Also, this tool is used instead of a drill. For builders with furniture makers, the electric screwdriver has become an indispensable assistant. For him and at home is constantly used. The assortment on the market is represented by a wide variety of models. Despite the prevalence of screwdrivers in various fields of activity, not all users, especially beginners, know how to operate it. Correct use, maintenance and storage of your power tool will maximize its life.

Performing a nozzle change

It is not difficult to change the nozzle on the screwdriver. The tool can be equipped with a quick-release chuck or on a turnkey basis. Replace the tooling in both cases in the same way. To remove the drill from a screwdriver with a keyless chuck and insert a new or other type of accessory, proceed as follows:

  • First, a bit is selected for the size of the cap and the type of slot on it (cross, straight or other) or a drill of the required diameter, corresponding to the material in which the hole is to be created;
  • Spin the cartridge against the clockwise direction;
  • In the center, between the divorced cams, the selected type of equipment is installed;
  • Rotating the cartridge case in the direction of the clock hands, clamp the nozzle.

You can pull the drill out of the screwdriver (or another nozzle) by holding the movable part of the chuck with one hand and pressing the start button with the other. Only first switch the direction of rotation to untwisting.

When the drill-driver is equipped with a turnkey chuck, then, to change the equipment, proceed as follows:

  • After inserting the key into the recess for it, unwind the cartridge;
  • Install the nozzle;
  • Clamp it by turning the key clockwise.

There are models in which you can remove the same type of cartridge, for example, a quick-release cartridge, and replace it with a turnkey analog. When choosing any option, it is necessary to focus not only on convenience during work, but also it is worth considering the pros and cons of each of them. So, the turnkey chuck reliably clamps the tooling, which is important when drilling, and the quick-clamping allows you to quickly replace it, even with one hand (while the other holds onto the handle, pressing the start button as needed).
