You don’t know how to prepare the brushcutter for the first start, how to prepare the correct fuel mixture and how to quickly change the cutting elements? In this article, we will cover these topics, as well as give basic rules for maintaining the petrol trimmer and some tips on how to properly store the brushcutter so that it works like new in spring.

The mower is a lightweight, mobile, versatile lawn care and weed control unit. It can be gasoline or electric, i.E. Run on fuel or mains (or battery).

We will talk about the petrol trimmer using the Fubag as an example. It is subject to all the rules of the first start-up, service and maintenance of gasoline equipment.

– Care and maintenance

It is very easy to maintain and care for this model!

– Filter
In order for the trimmer to work properly without loss of power, you need to regularly, every 10 working hours, remove dirt from the air filter. This model has easy access to the filter. The filter itself is made of nylon and is reusable. It just needs to be rinsed in gasoline and it will be like new and ready to go again!

– Spark plug
The spark plug should be checked periodically. The candle can be easily twisted. It is necessary to examine it. If there is dirt or carbon deposits, clean the electrodes with a brush. The gap between the electrodes should be between 0.6 and 0.7 mm.

– Muffler
Do not forget to periodically clean the spark arrestor of the engine muffler. A dirty spark arrester will reduce engine power and mow quality.

– Fuel filter
You need to check its condition periodically. To do this, unscrew and take out the fuel tank cap. Using a wire hook, we take out the fuel filter from the tank. Disconnect from the gas line, rinse in gasoline and put in place.

– Reducer
Every three months, before starting work, we check the presence of grease in the gearbox. Replace the grease if necessary.

– Cooling system
During operation, the cooling holes and fins of the engine cylinder become dirty. They are best cleaned with a brush or blown out with compressed air (this requires a small compressor and a blow gun).

– Unpacking

Let’s look at the example of the popular petrol trimmer Fubag FPT43. It is an easy to operate and very reliable unit with the most popular 1.3 kW motor.

The scythe is supplied unassembled and consists of: motor block, rod, T-shaped handles and protective casing. Includes instruction manual.

– Consumable parts

The most expensive part is trimmer line. Any line is suitable for this trimmer, of course. Fubag also produces its own trimmer line, which, in turn, is compatible with petrol cutters all manufacturers.

Often, manufacturers complete with a cheaper option in order to seem favorable in price, but you will have to replace this spool almost immediately.

A good spool is of plastic quality, it opens easily and makes it easy to thread the line.

– Build the braid

So, first you need to properly assemble the brushcutter. It’s very simple.

1) We connect the rod and the engine. To do this, align the rod with respect to the engine so that the spindle is in the same plane with the engine fuel tank.

2) Install the boom flange into the motor and secure with 4 screws.

To do this, unscrew the thumb screw on the top cover of the fastener. And remove the top cover. Next, insert the handle into the fasteners, install the cover, tighten the screw. We put the control handle on the pipe and fix it with a screw. On this trimmer, the adjusting screw allows you to adjust the handle for the user: you just need to loosen the thumb and move it to the required distance, and then fix it.

5) Now we connect the electrics.

We connect the throttle cable to the engine and insert its end into the throttle joint. We connect the red wire of the control handle to the red wire of the engine, and the black wire to the black one.

9) While holding the rod, twist the spool of line counterclockwise until it stops.
It remains to install the two-shoulder strap. Attach the shoulder strap carabiner to the shoulder strap attachment ring. We adjust the position of the ring on the rod of the product and fix it with a fixing screw. Adjust the length of the shoulder strap.

– First start

Further, the procedure for preparing for the first start, as with any engine:

1) Unscrew the candle, pour 3-5 gr into the candle hole. Oils for two-stroke engines.

2) Smoothly pull the starter handle 5.10 times, this is necessary to lubricate the piston and cylinder, excess oil will be removed by itself).

3) Move the choke lever up to the Closed position.

Fubag benzotrimers have a system Primer preliminary pumping of fuel into the carburetor. A few taps on the primer membrane fill the carburetor with fuel mixture and allow the engine to start quickly. We smoothly pull the starter several times, then more actively, but without excessive efforts and sharp blows.

Comfortable start of two-stroke Fubag engines is ensured by a manual starter EASY START. Fubag petrol trimmer starters are equipped with a mechanism that, with a smooth uniform movement of the starter handle, first accumulates energy, and then instantly releases it, rotating the shaft and starting the engine.

Therefore, to start the Fubag trimmer, you do not need to apply much force and pull the starter handle sharply, overcoming engine compression.
As with any engine, the Fubag engine must also be run-in so that the parts fit perfectly together. Therefore, do not bring it to maximum speed when the first 4-5 fuel tanks are used up and do not overheat the engine.

A switch that has three positions: STOP-0, 1 and START (these are the positions of the switch from bottom to top). To start the trimmer, it is necessary to move the switch to the middle position 1 (this is L), and to turn off the engine after the end of the work with the tool, to the STOP-0 position (this is OFF).

The uppermost position of the START switch can be used to cold start the trimmer, the engine will start at a slightly higher RPM for easier starting. To switch to this position, you must first hold down the throttle lock button and the accelerator, and with your thumb, lift the switch to the START position for an easy start at increased revs. Once locked, you can release the buttons and start the engine.

The accelerator, which was mentioned earlier, is the throttle control lever, but to add throttle, you must first press the accelerator lock button. This key is responsible for the safety of use to prevent accidental pressing of the accelerator and acceleration of the blade or spool.
