Chainsaw repair in artisanal conditions

Chainsaws failures are divided into two main groups for our client: engine malfunctions with non-complete systems (ignition, fuel supply system, cylinder-piston group, system exhaust) is not a malfunction of other components (chain brake, lubrication system, clutch, tire, etc.).

Engine malfunctions

  • The engine will not start;
  • Starts up, but stalls;
  • unstable;
  • does not develop power, i.e. normally works at idle, but stalls under load.

Carrying out the repair of chainsaws in artisanal conditions, it is necessary to act by the method of exclusion. check in turn what remains to do to our client the possible causes of the malfunction, starting with the development of those whose verification and elimination of which takes less time (about the device and the operation of a two-stroke engine, see here).

Ignition system. How does the chain lubrication system, chain. On her oil supply. Almost all types of engine malfunctions listed above can be caused by ignition system malfunctions. Therefore, when they occur, it makes sense to start troubleshooting with a candle. This is all the more justified because the state of the latter can provide useful information about the operation of the fuel system. So, if a problem occurs, you need to turn out the candle and inspect it.

The wire is disconnected, and the candle is twisted with a special key.

If the candle is dry, this means that the problem is most likely not in the ignition system, but in not entering the cylinder fuel mixture. You can wrap the candle back and take up the fuel system. If the candle is heavily sprayed with the fuel mixture, then there is an excess of it. This may occur due to misregistration of the carburetor or violation of the rules for starting. The candle is wiped and dried, the cylinder is drained, cutting off the fuel supply and working as a starter. to vent the combustion chamber and remove excess fuel. Then set the candle in place and repeat the launch.

The presence of a large amount of black soot also indicates a malfunction in the fuel system.

The ratio between oil and gasoline in the mixture may be violated, the carburetor is not adjusted, or poor-quality oil is used. The candle is washed in gasoline, cleaned with a needle or an awl of carbon deposits, clean the electrodes with a fine sandpaper and put in place.

In all these cases, it is not superfluous to check the gap between the electrodes of the candle. Depending on its brand, it should be in the range of 0.5-0.65 mm. It is necessary to check the sealing gasket of the candle. If it is worn or damaged, the tightness of the combustion chamber may not be ensured, which leads to a decrease in compression in the cylinder and problems in the engine.

Even if in the case of checking the spark plug there is good reason to believe that the fault is in the fuel system, you need to check the spark plug for a spark. No. 1 stihl ms 180 chainsaw chain lubrication system. No. 5 stihl ms 180 chainsaw chain lubrication system. At least in order to be sure that everything is in order with this. For this:

  • put on the spark plug cable;
  • using pliers with insulated handles, apply thread or nut to the cylinder;
  • pull the starter handle and look. there is a spark or not.

Read:

If there is no spark, you just need to replace the candle. If the new candle does not have a spark, it is necessary to check the condition of the high-voltage wire for an open and contact with the candle.

The reason for the absence of a spark can also be a faulty ignition module or a violation of the gap between it and the flywheel magnetic circuit. It should be 0.2 mm. Violation of the gap becomes especially likely if before that the saw was disassembled with the flywheel and the ignition module removed. The clearance is set using a 0.2 mm thick gasket placed between the flywheel boss and the ignition module. Defective ignition module must be replaced.

Having checked the ignition system in this way and not having detected a malfunction, we can proceed to the fuel mixture supply system.

Fuel supply system. If inspection of the spark plugs found that fuel does not enter the cylinder, you need to consider all the possible reasons for this. It could be:

  • non-receipt of fuel from the tank due to a clogged hole in its cap (breather), while a vacuum is created in the tank that prevents fuel from flowing out;
  • contamination of the fuel filter installed in the tank;
  • not receipt or insufficient supply of fuel mixture from the carburetor to the cylinder.

To diagnose the first two reasons, it is enough to disconnect the fuel hose from the carburetor and see if fuel flows out of it or not. If it flows fully, the breather and filter can not be checked, if it does not or weakly flows, we can assume that the cause of the malfunction is found. The breather is cleaned with a needle. The fuel filter is removed through the filler hole of the empty fuel tank with a wire hook, together with a suction hose, from which the filter is disconnected and cleaned or replaced with a new one. Chainsaw manufacturers recommend changing the fuel filter every three months.

Partner Chainsaw DOES NOT FEED OIL ON CHAIN.

In this video we will take a closer look at the oil pump. Chainsaws Partner, find out why Chainsaw Partner not.

An insufficient supply of the fuel mixture from the carburetor to the cylinder or a violation of the correct ratio between the fuel and air mixed in the carburetor can occur for several reasons: due to clogging of the air filter, unregulated carburetor, clogging of its channels or mesh filter.

As a rule, repairing chainsaws is not complete without cleaning the air filter, since it gets dirty quite quickly. When this happens, air intake to the carburetor decreases, the fuel mixture at the outlet of it turns out to be too enriched, which disrupts the normal operation of the engine. Chainsaw lubrication system Partner evdiral.ru. Carefully remove the dirty filter for cleaning so that dirt does not get into the carburetor. The filter should be cleaned or washed in water with some detergent, dried and installed again.

Carburetor misregistration is eliminated by its adjustment. This is usually done with three screws. maximum and minimum idle speed and propeller. Adjustment must be carried out in strict accordance with the instructions, non-observance of which can lead to engine damage.

If the carburetor adjustment did not help, you need to clean its channels and filter mesh, and at the same time check the integrity of the membrane. Carburetor. one of the most complex chainsaw devices, so proceed with disassembling and cleaning it with a full understanding of the responsibility of this operation. What could be the causes of malfunctions of a chainsaw, brake circuit, or lubrication system. It consists of many small parts that have the peculiarity of quietly popping out of their seats and irretrievably lost, so that, having disassembled this capricious device, you can not assemble it.

Below is a diagram of another carburetor chainsaw.

If there is no experience and self-confidence, it is better to entrust the repair of a chainsaw carburetor to a service center specialist. Sometimes for high-quality cleaning of the carburetor it is necessary to apply ultrasonic cleaning.

Muffler. Often the cause of engine malfunctions, especially when the engine is operating normally at low revs and stalls under load, becomes clogging of the silencer’s spark arrester, which prevents normal exhaust, from the combustion products. Repair in this case consists in removing the muffler, disassembling (if it is collapsible) and wet cleaning it from soot using detergents. Stihl ms180 evgeny chainsaw chain lubrication system diagnostics. The non-separable muffler is dried with a hairdryer after washing. Remember that soot contains substances that are carcinogens, and dry cleaning, which may cause inhalation, is unacceptable. When removing the muffler, the engine outlet is plugged with a clean rag.

Partner 350, a chain saw popular among gardeners, successfully combines endurance, the ability to cope with the most difficult household tasks and profitability. This model tolerates operation well in difficult weather conditions, which makes it possible to use it both in summer and in winter, without the risk of unexpected breakdown of the main work units

Partner 350 chainsaw device

The Partner model in the 350th configuration is distinguished by an excellent selection of components and high build quality. The basis of the garden tool is a 2-stroke 1-cylinder internal combustion engine, powered by a mixture of AI-92 gasoline and motor oil. The piston motor group is forged and coated with a chrome alloy to extend the internal combustion engine’s service life. The engine of the factory engine includes a proprietary CCS filter, characterized by the ability to trap the smallest foreign particles, preventing them from entering the fuel.

The Partner 350 chainsaw differs from its counterparts in the simplified start-up, which was achieved thanks to a modified starter with a self-cleaning drum, a professional fuel pump and durable electronic ignition. For preliminary pumping of used fuel into the cylinder, the model is equipped with a primer.

How to Dress a Disc on a Husqvarna Lawnmower

For the operator’s safety during the operation of a working chainsaw, Partner equipped the garden tool with a high-quality inertial brake that instantly operates when the saw headset hits a nail or any other foreign object.

Partner saw blades are metal bar and chain. Their tension is carried out using two keys, without the need to remove the protective cover of the plastic case.

One of the main advantages of the Partner 350 chainsaw is the convenient location of the necessary controls. The gas lever, the combined switch and the starter cable are located at the rear of the tool, which greatly simplifies its operation in confined spaces.

Partner 350 chainsaw oil. how to choose?

To extend the life of the engine and other working mechanisms of the garden tool, it is necessary to use high-quality engine oil to prepare the fuel mixture. When burning in a cylinder, it should form as little ash as possible, which settles on the walls of the muffler and on the spark plug.

The engine oil used for refueling should quickly dissolve in gasoline and be thoroughly cleaned of harmful impurities, which, over time, settle in the narrow channels of the Partner factory carburetor.

In addition, Partner 350 chainsaw oil must have high lubricating and anti-corrosion properties, as well as withstand wear and tear.

It is best used to prepare the fuel mixture for 2-stroke engines of the Stihl and Husqvarna brands. They lubricate the working parts of the Partner garden tools well and, when burned, do not emit large amounts of ash.

Partner 350 chainsaw. model specifications

The high efficiency of the Partner chain saw in the garden area was achieved due to good factory parameters.

Garden tool specifications include:

  • the power of the internal combustion engine is 1.8 liters. s./ 1.3 kW;
  • the volume of the staff forged cylinder. 36 cm3;
  • engine idle speed. 4000 rpm;

During operation, the Partner chainsaw creates minimal noise and vibration. Sound pressure on the operator when the engine is running at maximum speed does not exceed 108 dB.

Do-it-yourself partner carburetor adjustment for the Partner 350 chainsaw

Before you start setting up a standard Partner model carburetor, you need to thoroughly clean it from dust, dirt and carbon deposits that accumulated on the walls. In addition to the carburetor, you will need to rinse and dry the fuel and air filter. Otherwise, the operator will not be able to accurately set the required engine speed.

In the upper left part of the protective plastic case of the Partner saw there are holes in which the manufacturer provides bolts for adjusting the carburetor. Having found them, you can proceed to the basic configuration of the node. To do this, the left and right screws, which are responsible for the number and quality of revolutions, respectively, must be installed in a fully twisted position. Immediately after this, they must be weakened by 1/5 of a turn. The third adjusting bolt, marked T beech, must be left in the position in which it is installed.

The final adjustment of the carburetor of the Partner 350 chainsaw is carried out in the following order:

  1. First, you need to start the saw and let it work for the motor to completely warm up;
  2. After 5 minutes, you can begin to adjust. First, the left bolt must be started to turn in the direction of the clock until the engine reaches its maximum speed. Then the left bolt must be turned 1.4 turns in the opposite direction. After completing these steps, the Partner chainsaw engine should operate at idle confidently;
  3. If after manipulating the left adjusting screw, the chain on the tire starts to rotate, then it must be stopped by turning the bolt T in turn;
  4. Then you need to proceed to setting the quality of the fuel mixture. To do this, turn the right adjusting screw in the direction of the clock. As soon as the motor reaches the maximum allowable speed, the screw must be unscrewed 1/4 turn in the opposite direction.

Partner 350 chainsaw. ignition adjustment

You need to think about setting the ignition of the Partner garden tool when its engine has stopped starting, or when the rated motor power has fallen noticeably. Before adjusting the ignition, you will need to thoroughly clean the candle, as well as wipe the coil itself from dust.

The further procedure is as follows:

  1. First you need to remove the left cover of the protective plastic case;
  2. Under the cover are a flywheel and an ignition coil. They should be located at a certain distance from each other. Set a gap between them will help a template or a regular paper business card;
  3. To perform the adjustment, you will need to unscrew the 2 screws located next to the flywheel. During their rotation, the element will move away from the coil;
  4. Next, on the side of the coil, you will need to install the template motionlessly and start turning the screws in the opposite direction;
  5. As soon as the flywheel comes in contact with the template, you will need to finish the adjustment.

After setting the ignition, you need to put the case cover back in place and check the operation of the Partner 350 chainsaw. If the assembly has been adjusted correctly, the chainsaw engine will start the first time.

Partner 350 chainsaw. malfunctions and their elimination

Partner garden tools can break down for a variety of reasons, the most common of which are improper use and mechanical shock. To fix the malfunction, you will need to determine its exact cause in advance. After that, you can start an independent repair of the tool.

Partner 350 chainsaw starts and stalls

There can be several reasons for this malfunction. Most often, the engine of the tool starts and immediately stalls due to a clogged factory breather, as a result of which fuel enters the engine cylinder in an amount sufficient for operation. To fix the damage, remove and clean the breather. If it is damaged, then it will need to be replaced.

Another reason is the missing contact of the plug with the cap of the electrical wiring. This can happen due to mechanical shock or the formation of carbon deposits on the candle from engine oil. To repair the Partner 350 chainsaw, the spark plug will need to be removed and cleaned. In some cases, a complete candle replacement may help.

The third cause of the malfunction is the severe clogging of a standard muffler muffler. Over time, soot forms on its walls, which prevents the exhaust from leaving the engine. As a result, gases accumulate inside the motor and interfere with its proper operation. To eliminate the breakdown, it is necessary to remove the muffler and clean it with compressed air. You will also need to disassemble the motor and blow out its cylinder.

Partner 350 chainsaw does not start. how to fix the malfunction?

If this breakdown is detected, the first thing to inspect is the condition of the air filter. If a large amount of dust has accumulated on it, then the filter will need to be rinsed using pure gasoline.

Another common cause of the malfunction is problems with the ignition system. To repair the chain saw, you need to remove its left protective cover and set the correct clearance between the flywheel and the ignition coil.

In some cases, replacing the fuel mixture will help solve the problem. For this, the used fuel will need to be drained and a new mixture of pure gasoline and engine oil filled into the tank.

What to do if the chain on the Partner 350 chainsaw is not lubricated?

If the Partner 350 chain for the chainsaw is no longer lubricated with oil, this can lead to overheating of the tire and rupture of the saw set. Ignoring this problem is also fraught with increased load on the engine, which can lead to its breakdown.

The first thing to inspect when there is no lubrication to the chain is the oil pump. Over time, the teeth on its drive wear out, which can also occur due to clogging of the pump. It is usually impossible to restore an element, so it is best to replace it.

Often, grease does not get onto the Partner 350 chainsaw chain due to clogged oil pipes. In this case, the hoses will need to be replaced by treating the joints with the fittings with a sealant.

Pours a candle on the Partner 350 chainsaw

This common problem is faced by those chainsaw owners who add too much engine oil to the fuel mixture. In the cylinder, it does not have time to burn, so part of the lubricant settles on the candle and other important elements of the garden tool.

To eliminate the breakdown, you need to remove the factory candle, clean it of carbon deposits and dry. After this, it is necessary to blow out the cylinder of the factory engine of the chainsaw, several times abruptly pulling the starter cable towards itself.

Next, you need to inspect the condition of the carburetor and fuel hoses. Often, oil gets on the candle due to loss of system tightness. This occurs as a result of a break in one of the pipes or a breakdown of the oil pump. To repair the Partner 350 chainsaw, you will need to replace all defective fuel system parts. After that, you need to install the candle in place, start the motor of the instrument and check its operation at idle, low and high speeds.

One of the most popular household chainsaws is the 350th model of the partner’s saw. This can be explained by a number of advantages of this model.

The most important qualities of such saws, which characterize them on the positive side:

  • compactness and light weight with sufficient power;
  • relatively affordable price;
  • durability;
  • excellent repair base.

Partner Chainsaws. Features

Many sources claim that it was this Swedish company that produced the first serial household chainsaws in Europe. And it happened in 1949.

We generally believe that these are good Chinese saws, and this is partly true. most of the Partner chainsaws sold in our market are assembled in China, which is honestly written on their nameplates. But besides China, saws of this brand are also produced in America, Italy, Norway and England, and you can also purchase them.

For more than 10 years, this brand has been owned by Husqvarna, one of the leading manufacturers in this segment, which affects not only the design features of the saw, but also the widest network of service centers that can quickly and efficiently serve it.

Few people know, but for the first time the chainsaw chain brake and the handle heating system were used specifically on Partner chainsaws, so you should not underestimate them.

There are about 30 modifications of chainsaws of this brand. From the smallest Partner 340S saw blade available today, with 1.44 kW of power at 13,500 rpm, to the most powerful Partner 842, with its 1.6 kW at 12 thousand rpm.

But, perhaps, the 350th model remains the most bought.

Partner 350 Saw Overview

We will consider it in more detail.

Specifications:

  • power 1.52 kW;
  • working volume 36 cm3;
  • idle speed 3000 rpm;
  • maximum recommended speed of 13,000 rpm;
  • saw bar length 40 cm;
  • 3/8 ”chain pitch.

Allowed the use of saw tires with a length of 45 cm, but for this length the saw, nevertheless, is rather weak.

The saw is equipped with a hand chain brake, an easy start system, a primer for pumping fuel, a carburetor air damper regulator, has chromed cylinder walls and a cyclotron air treatment system. It was assembled quite qualitatively and, inferior in class to the more eminent classmates from Huskvarna and Shtil, surpasses almost all other chainsaws in the domestic segment in its consumer characteristics.

Partner 350 chainsaw: malfunctions and their elimination

One of the main features of this saw its users note the durability of operation with a minimum number of failures. And yet they occur. To determine why the saw stopped working, you need to make an elementary diagnosis.

If the saw does not start, then:

  • there is no spark on the candle;
  • no fuel is supplied;
  • no air enters.

First, you should check for the presence of a spark: unscrew the spark plug, attach it to the high-voltage wire and put it on the cylinder, pull the starter. If there is a spark, then clean and adjust the clearance on the candle (0.5. 0.65 mm). If it is not, then you need to change: either the flywheel or the coil (magneto). In addition, the candle itself may fail or the high-voltage wire may interrupt.

The next step is to check the fuel supply. To do this, disconnect the feed hose from the carburetor and check its presence. An absence may indicate a clogged fuel filter or feed system. And the carburetor itself may become clogged.

If you do not have experience in repairing and cleaning it, entrust this work to specialists.

If the air supply worsens, the saw should start, but it will work poorly. Remove and rinse the air filter. Replace it only after it has completely dried.

If the saw starts well, runs at idle and stalls when supplying gas. Most likely the muffler is clogged. Remove, disassemble, wash, put in place and work on.

With your own hands, you can also change the saw bar and chain, carburetor, starter, oil pump, ignition and clutch.

Here is a video of the complete disassembly of this saw:

And you will be able to replace the broken starter cable after watching this video:

We recommend instructing specialists to perform more complex chainsaw repairs related to replacing a cylinder-piston group or crankshaft, although if you are familiar with two-stroke engines, then this work will not be difficult for you, and Partner chainsaw parts are not a shortage.

To enlarge a picture, click on its thumbnail.

We advise you to regularly monitor the health of the safety group: brakes and catcher. Remember that the saw should be thoroughly cleaned of fine chips. It can not only clog technological holes in the oil pump and other places, but also interfere with the operation of the brake.

Partner 350 Operating Instructions

IN of this instruction You will find not only a detailed description of the saw, but also the basic methods of working with the tool. We want to draw your attention to the fact that this chainsaw can work on AI95 or AI92 gasoline with the addition of oil for two-stroke engines in a ratio of 1:50.

Partner 350 chainsaw carburetor adjustment

This is the most frequently performed procedure in the process of servicing a chainsaw, performed by the owner on his own, so it is worth learning. It is similar to adjusting the carburetors of most chainsaws and is described in sufficient detail in the proposed video:

It is important to complete it by adjusting the idle screw, which provides immobility of the circuit when operating in this mode. If the chain does not stop at the lowest stable speed, this indicates the need for clutch repair and it is unsafe to use such a saw.

Disadvantages of the saw

In the Russian market you can find not very high-quality counterfeit Partner 350 chainsaws, which is not only additional evidence of its popularity, but also harms the brand as a whole. And other models of this brand are popular among summer residents and farmers.

If you are ready to consider Partner 350 as your home tool for sawing thin trees, cutting branches and other not very voluminous works, then you should know the cons, more often than others called by their owners:

1. Not very high-quality vibration damping system, as a result of which the hands get tired pretty quickly. But, given that this is a household tool that requires a 15. 20-minute rest every 20. 25 minutes, you can put up with this drawback.

2. Oil leakage from the chain lubrication system, which, however, suffers from most of the chainsaws supplied with it, including the more eminent partner of the Partner chainsaws, Huskvarna. (Link)

3. The lack of visual control of the oil level, which is not very convenient in operation, and the operation of the saw without lubrication will lead to rapid stretching, overheating and wear of the chain.

Of course, you can use this saw to knock down a tree up to 30. 35 centimeters thick, but its main purpose is to work on the site. Therefore, in conclusion, we offer you the most objective video review of this model:

Dear readers, if you still have questions, ask them using the form below. We look forward to hearing from you. &# 128521;

Partner 350 chainsaw oil

To extend the life of your Partner 350, you should carefully consider your choice of fuel and oil. For refueling, you need to use gasoline with an octane rating of at least 90. AI-92 gasoline is best for a chainsaw.

To mix with fuel, you will need to purchase a special oil for two-stroke engines. It has all the necessary additives and substances that extend the life of the engine. It is best to use branded Stihl or Husqvarna oils.

The fuel mixture for the Partner 350 model is prepared in a ratio of 50: 1, that is, 20 ml of oil should be diluted in 1 liter of gasoline.

Do-it-yourself partner 350 carburetor adjustment for the Partner 350 chainsaw

Adjustment of the standard carburetor of the tool is necessary in cases of a slow set of revolutions by the engine, as well as with a sharp increase in the amount of fuel consumed. This procedure will help reduce exhaust gas and extend the life of important saw mechanisms.

There are holes in the upper left of the tool body that allow easy access to the adjusting screws. If the carburetor of the Partner 350 chainsaw is set up for the first time, then this part of the body is best removed. This is necessary in order to see the position of the heads of the factory adjusting screws.

After removing the case, you will need to put all the adjusting screws in a fully twisted position, and then unscrew them half a turn.

Further, the configuration procedure should be performed in this order:

  1. In the case of adjusting the base carburetor with the cover removed beforehand, it should be remembered that the regular screw on the left is responsible for setting the amount of the fuel mixture, and the right one is responsible for its quality. A third screw is also provided on the carburetor, indicated by the Latin letter T. With it, you can adjust the position of the base throttle when the engine is idling;
  2. After installing the screws in the desired position, the partner will need to start the defective chainsaw and allow its engine time to warm up. As soon as the standard cylinder heats up, you need to start adjusting the position of the screw of the amount of fuel used. In this case, it is necessary to tighten the screw in the direction of the clock until the motor reaches its maximum speed. Immediately after this procedure, the quantity base screw will need to be turned a quarter turn in the opposite direction;
  3. If after this the idle speed of the motor will be increased or decreased, then they must be adjusted using the screw T;
  4. After that, you need to adjust the quality of the fuel mixture. For this, the right screw will need to be turned until the motor reaches its maximum rotation speed. After that, you need to turn it a quarter of a turn in the opposite direction.

Partner 350 chainsaw. ignition adjustment

If the Partner 350 saw does not start, then you need to check the condition of the spark plug and the ignition system. To do this, you need to unscrew the part and inspect it. If it is clean with small bright spots, then you need to configure the ignition system of the instrument.

Next, you need to check the voltage of the high voltage cable. To do this, use a light bulb or probe. In the absence of voltage, the problem is a wire break. If it is intact and has not been killed anywhere, then you need to adjust the gap in the ignition system of the Partner 350 model.

Partner 350 chainsaw. malfunctions and their elimination

Most owners of this Partner model face problems that can be considered typical for this toolbox. In order to be able to eliminate them, you should understand the causes of breakdowns and study the most effective methods for their repair.

Partner 350 chainsaw starts and stalls. how to solve the problem?

The most common cause of this breakdown is a clogged air filter. Due to dust, debris and insects, it is not able to pass through the amount of air necessary for the normal operation of the Partner 350 chainsaw. In this case, you will need to remove the filter and rinse it with clean gasoline. If this does not help, then the filter element should be replaced completely.

Another common cause is the malfunction of the spark plug. To check, you will need to unscrew the part and inspect it. If there are small bright spots on the candle, then the part is in good condition. However, if the ceramic walls of the candles are covered with a thick layer of soot and oil, then it must be cleaned. To do this, you need to heat the AL-KO spark plug, and carefully scrape off the soot. If this does not help, then the candle will need to be replaced.

What to do if the Partner 350 chainsaw does not start?

In this case, you must carefully check the ignition system of the instrument. Most often, the saw does not start if the gap between the magneto and the ignition coil is violated. In this case, you will need to disassemble the saw and adjust the distance between these parts. If you don’t have a probe at hand, then you can use a pocket calendar or a paper business card instead.

Also, the Partner 350 chainsaw may not start due to a clogged fuel filter. If a lot of garbage has accumulated in it, then it will not pass the required amount of fuel to the motor. In this case, the filter will need to be replaced.

Partner 350 chain does not lubricate. trouble repair

The main reason for this malfunction is a loss of tightness or a break in the hose through which the oil for the chainsaw chain circulates. In this case, you need to remove the upper and side shields of the chainsaw body, and also inspect them for stains. To solve the problem, replace the worn hose. When installing in the place of its attachment to the pump, it is necessary to apply sealant.

If the cause of the failure is not in the hose, then you need to inspect the oil pump. It may be clogged or broken. If the part cannot be washed, then it is best to replace it with a new one.

Fills a candle on the Partner 350 chainsaw. troubleshooting

Often, a candle on a chainsaw begins to fill due to prolonged use of improperly prepared fuel mixture. Stirring a large amount of oil in gasoline will cause the fuel pump to malfunction. From it, oil will flow into the body, including the chainsaw candle.

Another common problem is the breakdown of the fuel pump. To check its operation, remove the tool body and start the engine. Then you need to press the trigger several times. If the oil flows out of the pump, it means that it is defective.

As a rule, chainsaw fuel pumps are not repairable. It is best to completely replace it. To extend the life of the new pump, in the future, to refuel the Partner 350 chainsaw, you need to use only high-quality fuel and engine oil.

The Partner 350 chainsaw is a productive and reliable partner chainsaw. This manufacturer is part of the Danish concern Husqvarna group of companies, which significantly influenced the quality and functionality of its equipment.

Easy to operate and convenient, this chainsaw is useful to gardeners and gardeners. And light weight and compactness do not create restrictions for transporting the tool.

The launch is carried out on a flat surface, sharply tugging at the gas cable. With a cold start, open the air damper and allow the chainsaw to warm up. Only after that it is possible to gain momentum and move on to woodworking.

All possible nuances of adjusting the Partner 350 chainsaw with your own hands are described in detail in the operating instructions. If they are not observed, the tool is not insured against malfunctions and repairs, the budget of which can be unpredictable.

Partner Chainsaw 350 malfunctions and their elimination

The most vulnerable systems of the 350th chainsaw from the Partner brand are:

  • motor part;
  • ignition system;
  • grease disturbance.

Diagnostics of engine failures

If the engine runs with bogging or does not start at all, the reasons may be the following:

  • lack of gasoline or air;
  • no spark to ignite.

For a more accurate analysis of the situation, it is necessary:

  • make sure that the fuel reaches the carburetor part. if not, then:
  • Empty saw tank:
  • clogged float needle;
  • air in the fuel tank is stopped;
  • gasoline filter clogged. These failures are eliminated by cleaning the cleaning systems, refueling the chainsaw with high-quality fuel.
  • if gasoline reaches the carburetor, examine the candle for defects. it should be dry and with the correct clearance. By its external state, one can judge the possible malfunctions of the entire tool (see the figure below).
    • If after connecting to a grounded wire it does not give a spark, the problem is in the candle itself, which will probably have to be replaced. In addition to the spark plug, other spare parts often fail. a coil or ignition switch;
    • detecting a wet candle is a sure sign that the candle is being poured. This may be due to:
    • incorrect or malfunctioning carburetor factory settings;
    • filling the carburetor block with fuel.,

    In any case, you need to update the carb settings.

    Carb adjustment

    • warm up the engine;
    • tighten screw L until it stops, after which weaken by a quarter;
    • if the saw continues to stall at idle, scroll the T jet;
    • for the correct operation of the “Partner” chainsaw under load with screw H, we achieve maximum speed.

    For installation, it is desirable to have a universal key and a tachometer (crankshaft rotation counter) on hand. Carburetor installation and adjustment of ignition is carried out at the Partner factory. Therefore, a completely new saw does not need to be reconfigured.

    Oil supply system malfunctions

    The situation when the chain lubricant involuntarily flows out of the chainsaw body and does not reach the cutting parts indicates that there is no need to repair the oil pump, to clean the oil supply pipes or to replace them with serviceable spare parts. In addition, grease leaks may indicate a leak in the pipe and oil sump connections. If these failures are not eliminated in time, the circuit will begin to overheat, stretch and fail prematurely.

    Do-it-yourself Partner “350” chainsaw repair should only be performed by people who are familiar with its design and operating principle. Only in this case can we hope that the replacement of the drive sprocket or crankshaft will be performed correctly and safely for further work.

    One of the most popular household chainsaws is the 350th model of the partner’s saw. This can be explained by a number of advantages of this model.

    The most important qualities of such saws, which characterize them on the positive side:

    • compactness and light weight with sufficient power;
    • relatively affordable price;
    • durability;

    • power 1.52 kW;
    • working volume 36 cm3;
    • idle speed 3000 rpm;
    • maximum recommended speed of 13,000 rpm;
    • saw bar length 40 cm;

    • there is no spark on the candle;
    • no fuel is supplied;

    System chainsaw lubricant

    One of the principal chainsaw systems, operation without which is impossible, is a forced chain lubrication system chainsaws. It’s no secret that at the time of the saw’s operation, the chain abrases on the chainsaw tire, which causes it to heat up and premature wear. To mitigate friction, the chain mechanism must be constantly lubricated.

    Chainsaw Chain Lubrication System

    To serve butter for chain lubricant chainsaws, a special pump is used in the tool, which is dosed, depending on the number of engine revolutions, supplies lubricant to the saw bar.

    The system uses oil to lubricate the chainsaw chain, which has improved adhesion properties, this is necessary for uniform distribution of oil around the entire perimeter of the tire and hold on it even at high speeds of chain rotation. Let us consider in more detail the oil supply system implemented in modern chainsaws.

    System device grease

    Depending on the brand of the chainsaw, the details of the lubrication system may vary slightly constructively, but their total number and connection diagram remains unchanged.

    The main components of a lubrication system are:

    Principle of operation

    The main unit of the system is the pump. The principle of his work is as follows. With an increase in engine speed, a gear mounted on the main shaft drives the pump shaft through a worm gear. In turn, the rotation of the shaft creates a certain pressure in the oil line, which causes the oil to move along it towards the tire.

      The end of the oil channel is located at the place where the tire contacts the tool case, where there is a longitudinal groove onto which the oil channel enters when the tire is installed.

      Grooving is necessary to ensure that oil is supplied to the tire, regardless of the degree of chain tension of the chainsaw. Simply put, no matter what position the tire is at the time of operation, oil will flow through the groove through it.

      Further, a chain is included in the lubrication process, on the links of which, depending on the model of the chain, there is either a groove or a hole through which the oil is dispersed throughout the tire. With an increase in engine speed, the oil feed rate also increases.

      Some chainsaw models are equipped with pumps that additionally have a capacity control, and if necessary, the amount of oil supplied by the lubrication system can be increased or decreased.

      Lubrication system malfunctions and how they are eliminated

      The main malfunctions of the oil supply system on a chainsaw can be divided into two main types, these are general malfunctions inherent in all chainsaws and individual ones, which can vary depending on the type of pump and worm gear installed on a particular model. Let’s start sorting out the faults in order.

      Working with a chainsaw if the chain is not lubricated is prohibited. This adversely affects the tire, the drive sprocket and the chain, and can also result in serious repair costs.

      Signs of a malfunction of the lubrication system, checking its performance

      • The chain of the chainsaw is dry and has a pale shade without shine.
      • The chain stretches relatively quickly.
      • The tire is very hot and may even partially melt the paint.
      • Oil from the tank is practically not reduced.
      • Sharp chain cut efficiency

      Technological progress is in constant development, and such a fundamental one, for at least some business having a plot of land, like mowing grass, has long been mechanized. Gone are the days when, to bring your own garden to another hedge.

      All these signs indicate that the lubrication process is abnormal. In order to check the oil supply by the lubrication system, it is necessary to remove the side tire of the chainsaw and start it. Next, you need to slightly increase the speed while observing the end of the oil line. If oil comes in, most likely its quantity is not enough for normal lubrication and you need to clean or replace the filter and, if possible, adjust the flow. In the case when it does not arrive, the problem is more serious and requires further diagnosis.

      There is a way to check the oil supply without removing the tire. To do this, it is necessary to direct the end of the tire to the side, for example, of freshly sawn chocks from the cut side and maximize the speed, while you should try to keep the end of the tire at a distance of no more than 10 cm from the chocks. If oily stains begin to appear on its surface. then the oil is supplied.

      Troubleshooting

      Once it has been determined that no oil is being supplied, further diagnostics are only possible if the oil system is completely removed. Of course, filter replacement helps in some situations, but this is very rare.

      Access to the oil pump of some models of saws is possible only after complete disassembly, respectively, having no skills in repairing gas tools, it is better to entrust the repair to professionals.

      Most common malfunctions

      1. Breakage of an oil hose. It can sometimes be found during visual inspection. The problem is solved by replacing the defective part.
      2. Lack of thread on the shaft of the oil pump will help replace it.
      3. A defective thread on the pump drive gear is likewise solved by installing a new part.
      4. No corkscrew of the main shaft (relevant for some models of tools, for example, Homelite). You can fix it by installing a corkscrew that is suitable for the diameter of cloves instead of the native corkscrew, cutting it to the required length.
      5. Blockage in the highway. It can be removed by blowing with compressed air or mechanically, using a wire of suitable diameter.
      6. Clogged filter element.
      7. The Stihl MS 180, whose pump is not separable, often clogs. You can try to rinse in clean gasoline if it does not help replace it.
      8. In Chinese chainsaws (Gypsy), very often cuts the grooves on the main gear, through which the force from the sprocket is transmitted to it.

      Stihl MS 180 individual lubrication system malfunction

      Due to the fact that the Stihl MS 180 is one of the most common chainsaw models, I want to dwell on one malfunction inherent only to it and describe a way to eliminate it without replacing parts.

      Quite often on a Stihl MS 180 chainsaw, there is a depressurization of the oil line in the place where the oil pipe coming from the tank is installed in the saw body. The malfunction can be determined by the characteristic smudges on the bottom of the tool.

      To eliminate the malfunction, it is necessary to remove the chainsaw handle, remove the hose from the bore hole, clean and degrease it. After all these manipulations, apply sealant to the hose seat and install in the chainsaw body.

      You can find out more about troubleshooting and a complete diagnosis of the Stihl chainsaw lubrication system by watching a video that shows the disassembly and repair process step by step lubrication systems.

      Conclusion

      In modern chainsaws, a reliable supply of lubricant for the chain is organized, in case of malfunctions of which, it is not worth operating the chainsaw in order to avoid further breakdowns. It is better to troubleshoot the lubrication system by contacting a service center or a specialist with repair experience, this ensures the quality of the final result.

      > How to repair a chainsaw Partner, Partner 350, at home

      Real owner do without a chainsaw? This is nonsense! Many small and not very affairs without this tool will stop: sawed branches, pruned bushes, a small carpentry repair, etc. What can I say, you yourself know better how much a chainsaw is needed.

      AND popular chainsaw Partner is named so not by chance. it helps worse than a partner in the household. And if this chainsaw breaks, then without it it is very difficult. Fortunately, for a Partner chainsaw, you can try to repair yourself. Let’s see in which cases this is possible.

      Partner 350 chainsaw: specifications and features

      Motor saw Partner 350 belongs to the class of household or amateur hand gasoline saws. Amateur. does not mean a “club of interests” for lovers of chainsaws, but indicates the power and capabilities of the unit. This saw is one of the best in its class and is optimally suited for short-term work in the garden, on a summer cottage, etc.

      With its help, you will cut the bushes, prepare brushwood for brazier and wood for repair, cut down a small tree. All this is possible due to such technical parameters:

      • Weight: 4.7 kg
      • The power of a two-stroke engine is 1.8 hp. (1300 W)
      • Engine displacement: 34 cc
      • Electronic ignition system.
      • The capacity of the oil tank is 0.2 l, the fuel tank is 0.4 l.
      • Chain pitch: 3/8 inch.
      • The maximum chain length is 41 cm, the optimal is 35 cm.
      • Primer for starting a cold engine.

      Partner Chainsaw Benefits 350 are in its compact size and convenient operation. It has a built-in security system: a double inertial brake is applied automatically as soon as an emergency occurs. potentially hazardous to the saw operator.

      In spite of this, price of chain saws relatively low. Parts are also available. In Western countries, this brand is very popular due to a win-win combination of price and quality. But even Swedish quality sometimes fails.

      Common Partner Saw Breakdowns: Home Diagnosis

      Partner gasoline saw is not unreliable. For many users, it works without problems in winter and summer, for many years. But others complain about the same typical problems:

      1. The chainsaw will not start.
      2. The chainsaw starts but stalls.
      3. Fuel does not enter the cylinder.

      All these problems have internal causes in the details and components of the tool. So, in order to get to the bottom and fix the breakdown, you have to disassemble the saw. This is not as difficult as it might seem, because manufacturers always consider this possibility.

      For self diagnosis malfunctions at home, you need to understand that the common problems of chainsaws in the vast majority of cases are caused by the same reasons. Therefore, according to the symptoms, you can already guess where the source of the problem is.

      For instance, if the chainsaw does not start, then the reason most likely lies in the ignition system, namely in the candle. If air leaks into the cylinder, then you need to look for a defect in the fuel system. A dirty filter causes the engine to stall and smoke, and so on. Let’s look at these cases in detail so that you feel confident during the independent repair of the Partner chainsaw.

      What to do if the Partner 350 chainsaw does not start

      Now that you know what caused the breakdown, it’s time to get down to business. A faulty ignition system can only be repaired after disassembly. To do this, remove any remaining fuel from the tank. Then carefully disconnect the wire and remove the spark plug (a special key is provided to remove it).

      1. Test it for performance. To do this, put the ignition cable on the spark plug, and connect the spark plug nut and cylinder with pliers. Now start the starter. Is there a spark? So the candle is in working condition. Is there no spark? So, it will not work to reanimate the candle, and it must be replaced. And what can you do with a working candle? By the appearance of the candle, you can judge the repair method.
      2. The candle is completely dry. This means that it is not wetted by the fuel mixture. The problem must be sought at the stage of fuel entry into the cylinder, it is broken. The candle and the ignition system as a whole have nothing to do with it. Replace the candle and look for the real cause of the malfunction.
      3. Candle over-filled with fuel mixture. The first thing, of course, is to wipe it with a napkin and set it aside. Now you can look for the reason in the incorrect carb adjustment. While the candle dries in air, you can turn off the fuel and turn on the starter to check the combustion chamber. After a few minutes, the candle can be installed in its place in the mechanism and restart the chain.
      4. The candle is covered with a layer of carbon. Burnout results from improper fuel composition. There are two possible options: either you saved and refueled the chainsaw with low-quality gasoline, or the proportions of the mixture of gasoline and oil were violated. The candle needs to be cleaned properly. To remove the cork from soot, a needle, a thin awl or a similar tool from improvised tools will do. The electrodes also need to be cleaned.

      In addition, in any case, it does not hurt to make sure that the chainsaw carburetor is correctly adjusted. Do not start adjustment until you have cleaned the air and fuel filters. If the filters are in order, use the adjusting screws.

      One of them (S) designed for idle, the other two are for maximum (H) and minimum (L) revolutions, respectively. Turn the screws clockwise gradually. After the stop, make two turns in the opposite direction.

      Problem: chainsaw stalls after starting

      Common situation: Partner chainsaw stalls at high speeds, although before that it starts and works without problems on medium gas. Sometimes on average it also works intermittently. but at full throttle it immediately stalls. This problem is faced by many users who save on high-quality fuel.

      Low-quality gasoline easily pollutes the details of soot. In this case, checking the filters (air and fuel) will not hurt. over, a muffler suffers from poor fuel and soot formed by it.

      The combustion products of dirty fuel simply clog it, forming an impassable cork from burning. This plug greatly reduces engine power. At the same time, gasoline is consumed in large quantities, but there is no result in power. Check and clean the muffler:

      After following the recommendations to fix the damage, replace the muffler, refill the saw with high-quality (!) fuel and start it.

      Repairing the chainsaw fuel system

      When the fuel supply is interrupted, it is not surprising that the chainsaw is not working. And the problem in this case is the same: no fuel enters the cylinder. And there can be several reasons for this problem, and you have to find the very reason.

      First try to disconnect fuel hose and observe the fuel pressure. A weak, intermittent flow signals a clogged filter. Remove it, rinse and dry, and if possible, replace it with a new filter. Clean the breather (valve) from clogging.

      Check filter condition carburetor and, if necessary, rinse it thoroughly, dry and reinstall. We described the carburetor settings in detail above, and these actions in this case will not be superfluous either.

      If the cause is not a breather and not in the carburetor, then everything may turn out to be commonplace. Make sure there is enough fuel in the tank.

      There may also be problems in the cylinder-piston group (abbreviated as CPG) Chainsaws Partner. This failure can be considered serious, because the cylinder and piston are the basis of the engine. Therefore, CPG is an expensive component, the cost of which reaches half the cost of the entire tool.

      From the coordinated work of the cylinder and the piston directly depends on the power of the chainsaw. During operation, especially if the operating rules are violated, the cylinder, piston, and rings may wear out. In this case, only replacement of parts will help.

      CPG details may be damaged mechanically. These defects can be diagnosed independently. Remove the silencer. You can see the CPG in the hole. Scratches and scuffs on the surface of the cylinder, located randomly, occur when debris, fragments, solid foreign particles get in.

      If the cylinder is darkened, and this defect is observed on its entire surface, then, in all likelihood, you refueled the chainsaw with low-quality fuel. Bad gasoline also affects oil scraper rings.
      The worn surface of the cylinder on the muffler side is a sign of critical overheating of the chainsaw during operation.

      Minor mechanical damage.
      can be fixed by replacing bearings, rings, etc. But with deep burrs, the CPG will have to be completely replaced by contacting the Partner chainsaw repair workshop.

      How to prevent chainsaw breakage

      Chainsaw Repair in some cases it can be very expensive. This can be avoided if enough attention is paid to the prevention and monitoring of the condition of the instrument and all its parts. over, it is not difficult to fulfill this condition. it is enough to use the operating instructions and adhere to rational accuracy:

      To maintain it in working condition, it is only necessary to clearly follow the instructions and follow some general rules:

      1. Do not allow the engine to overheat, pause the work so that it can rest and cool down.
      2. Do not load the chainsaw beyond the capabilities provided by its class. For example, if you use a Partner 350 saw of a household class, then it is simply not designed to work more than 40 minutes a day.
      3. Check the chain brake every day (this is done at maximum acceleration).
      4. Follow the manufacturer’s requirements regarding the quality and composition of the fuel mixture.
      5. Check the condition of the spark plug weekly and, if necessary, clean the electrodes.
      6. Before using the saw, make sure that the chain is sharpened and correctly installed. Pay attention to the wear of the cutting links and sharpen them in a timely manner. Watch for cracks and tears in rivets.
      7. A properly tensioned chain does not sag, but it can be moved with your hands. Never do this with a hot chain! Sharpen and / or tighten it after replacement.
      8. When refueling the chainsaw, make sure that dirt and other foreign particles do not enter the tank along with the fuel. Pour oil and gasoline carefully, do not spill them.

      Often, when contacting a service center, it turns out that the Partner chainsaw has broken due to an incorrect start of the tool. Therefore, there is only one universal solution for saw breakage: handle it correctly, and most problems can be avoided.

      And in the event that you are interested in the causes of breakdowns of the Stihl chainsaw, the second popular brand in conjunction with Partner (Partner), then the next article is about this.

      Why doesn’t oil get on the chainsaw chain

      The guarantee of a long service life of a chainsaw can be not so much the power characteristics of the tool as the proper way to use and compliance with the rules for handling it. This primarily relates to the chain. Proper care of it will help maintain cutting qualities for more than one decade. It implies not only compliance with the technology of working with the tool, you also need to carefully select the oil for the chainsaw chain, which is recommended to be used regularly.

      How to choose a chain

      Choosing a chain will help study their typology. Important criteria for differences are:

      1. Tooth pitch. This parameter is measured in inches. The most common sizes are considered 0.325, 0.375 and 0.404. Each of them is selected depending on the tasks. The smaller the specified parameter, the less productivity will be, which means that you will not need to put a lot of effort. Therefore, it is necessary to purchase a chain whose power would correspond to a chainsaw.
      2. The thickness of the tail, the leading link, which means the ability to select products for different tires. A 1.1 mm thick tail is only present on small chains for household saws. The most popular is the size of 1.3 mm. Such a model may be present even on semi-professional devices.
      3. Drunk depth and profile height. The performance of the device depends on this parameter. It is always possible to increase the value if you cut off the stops near each tool. There are two choices: 0.025 ”(0.635 mm) and 0.03” (0.762 mm). The presence of a highly profile type chain makes the chainsaw aggressive and shaving. To maintain a balance between high productivity and low vibration, a product with a small pitch of the tails will help.
      4. Chain, tire and tooth length. The choice of this parameter directly depends on the power characteristics of the chainsaw. over, the best saws are not always characterized by an increased number of teeth and tire size.
      5. Types of cutting links. Types of chains according to this characteristic: chisel and chipper. The first option is the most optimal because of the direct working surface, which allows you to evenly cut into the wood. It is difficult to sharpen such links, and if even very small deviations from the upper corners are present, the chain performance will be reduced. Chipper ones have the worst cutting characteristics, but are more resistant to any kind of dirt and easier to sharpen.
      6. The sequence of links. A model with one cutting link and two tails is popular. But non-standard options are also possible: with a half-start. between each second pair of working teeth only one connecting link is inserted, with an allowance. the link is installed between all adjacent teeth. This allows you to reduce the cost. But at the same time, aggressiveness and productivity are reduced, and wear is increasing, including chainsaws.
      7. The method of cutting material. Products with longitudinal and transverse cut allow you to guide the tire along and across the fibers, depending on the need. They differ in the angle of sharpening of the cutting links.

      How to install a chain

      The long life of the device is possible not only subject to careful selection of components for it, the installation of the chain on a chainsaw should also be correct. In addition, sooner or later, chain replacement may be required. In this case, it is necessary to think about safety, in particular, to carry out work in special protective gloves. To "dress" the saw, you need to perform actions in the following sequence:

      1. Prepare the surface for work. You can correctly put the chain on a table or on another convenient and flat surface. Additionally, the surface can be covered with a rug.
      2. The wing nut on the housing must be unscrewed, and then remove the sprocket cover.
      3. The latter must be turned to the right until it stops. After that, gradually put the chain on top of the tire, while it is better to start work from its top. At each step, it is recommended that you follow the correct direction of the chain.
      4. Turn the chain so that the tire is on top of it. At this stage, the cutter located at the top of the tire should be facing forward, not sideways. This suggests that the direction of movement is correct, and the location is accurate.
      5. To put the tire on an asterisk.
      6. After that, put the chain sprocket cover on the engine block, turn the wing nut all the way, but do not completely tighten the sprocket cover.
      7. Unscrew the clamping screw, for which you need to turn it in the direction of the top of the tire, while the chain links should fall into the corresponding recesses.
      8. Tighten the wing nut until it locks into place.
      9. Check the part for sagging and overtightness, if necessary, pull it further or loosen.

      Why does the chain fly and break

      If a chain flies from a chainsaw or it breaks, it means that the device has some kind of malfunction, in normal conditions it should not do this. There are three reasons why a chain flies:

      1. Problems with the bus. They lead to a weakening of the tension, which can lead to the chain breaking. Most often, this problem occurs in the groove between the outer plate on the casing of the chain headset and the inner plate on the motor housing. The casing with the tire is fixed with a bolt, which during the operation of the chainsaw can be weakened, as a result of which the tire begins to move or vibrate. To solve this problem, it is necessary to find and lower the chain brake, for which the tension screw, which is located next to the tire, must be turned until it is fully tensioned.
      2. The chain has stretched. Sagging may indicate a malfunction of the chainsaw mechanism. During operation, the metal is deformed, which means it can become 0.5-1 cm longer. In this case, it is recommended to replace or shorten the chain.
      3. The drive sprocket is loose. To fix it, you need to remove the protective cover of the engine and spark plugs, and then pull out the air filter. The candle itself also needs to be unscrewed, after which a special stopper fixing the piston should be installed in its place. Turn the mounting disk clockwise until the piston stops in its highest position. A thick rope folded several times can act as a stopper. After fixing the piston, clamp the drive sprocket. Assemble the chainsaw by installing all parts in the reverse order.

      Most problems can be solved by repair. Only in exceptional cases will you have to change it.

      How to shorten the chain with your own hands

      You can repair the chainsaw chain with your own hands, subject to the availability of a special tool (most often comes with a saw). Most often, you need to shorten it, especially if it is stretched. It is difficult to do, but possible. To repair it by shortening, you need to prepare the following tools:

      Some work can be done with a welding machine, if there are doubts about one’s own strength.

      To shorten the chain on a chainsaw, you need to rivet it. Since it is made of durable steel, the process can be complicated. It connects to the inside of the rivet. The reduction is performed in the following sequence:

      1. Lock the part in a vise.
      2. Grind off the protruding part with a file or file.
      3. Knock out rivets with a beard.
      4. To do a similar job in one more place. This will allow riveting it.
      5. Remove links.
      6. Connect to old rivets, while they need to be pressed on the sides. The rivet can be welded to the side parts of the link, after which all excesses should be filed with a file.

      Which oil to use for chain lubrication

      This part requires constant lubrication, for which you can fill in special oil for the chainsaw, and it must be of high quality. It is recommended to choose oil for the lubrication of chains of chainsaws from the manufacturer of the saw itself. Its consumption is small, so you should not save on buying. But pouring liquid on the circuit itself is not necessary. There are entire lubrication systems to help it flow smoothly onto the tire.

      There are other criteria for choosing a saw lubricant:

      • resistance to freezing, because sometimes you have to use a saw in the winter, including lubricating it with oil, which means that it should not freeze at low temperatures;
      • optimal viscosity of the oil for the chain;
      • the oil that is used must not leave a residue on candles and other spare parts;
      • lack of impurities.
      READ  Husqvarna 122c Gasoline Trimmer

      Change the chain oil if the part heats up and various breakdowns occur.

      Chain Lubrication Scheme

      The chain saw lubrication system consists of the following elements:

      • oil tank, which is located in the crankcase;
      • filter in the tank;
      • oil pipe, that is, a hose of small diameter;
      • oil pump.

      Chainsaws are equipped with an automatic lubrication system. This means that the oil enters the chain only when the latter comes in contact with wood. The scheme of the system is as follows. The gear, which is located on the main shaft, drives the shaft of the oil pump. This creates pressure in the oil line, which makes the oil move towards the tire.

      The oil channel ends at the place where the tire of the device contacts the crankcase of the chainsaw. The chain tension of the chainsaw for oil supply does not matter. She still lubricates herself.

      No oil flows to the chain

      The fact that the oil does not enter the circuit can be found by the following signs:

      • dry parts and lack of gloss;
      • its quick stretching;
      • heat;
      • lack of oil reduction from a tank;
      • decreased cutting efficiency.

      To check whether or not there is an oil supply, you need to direct the end of the tire to the side and maximize the speed, while the end of the tire should be located at a distance of 10 cm from the tree.

      If oil stains appear on the wood surface, then there is no problem with the oil supply. You may need to adjust the feed.

      The reasons for the lack of oil supply can be:

      1. Lack of thread on oil pump shaft. In this case, it will be necessary to replace it.
      2. Breakage of an oil hose.
      3. The presence of defective threads on the drive gear of the pump.
      4. No corkscrew of the main shaft. You can solve the problem by installing a stud of the appropriate diameter and the required length.
      5. Clogging. The line can be cleaned by blowing with compressed air or using a thin wire. If the blockage is in the filter or in the pump itself, then these parts are best replaced.

      Train tips

      It is not enough to know how to solve problems with a broken or broken chain, because there is always the opportunity to prevent this. Proper care of the saw will help extend the life of the device and its parts. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the advice of specialists:

      1. Regularly clean the air filter and lubricate it with oil. The filter needs to be changed periodically.
      2. Every time before starting work, you need to check the tightness of all nuts and bolts. Then, during operation, the device will not fail.
      3. You need to lubricate both the bearings and the sprocket.
      4. Regularly clean candles from fumes.
      5. Lubricate, sharpen and tighten the chain in time.

      A quality chainsaw, subject to proper care and timely repair, can last longer than the warranty period.

      When moving the chainsaw chains in the groove of the tire due to friction, a large amount of heat is released. If oil does not enter the chain of the chainsaw, it is necessary to stop operation and take all measures to eliminate the malfunction of the lubrication system. The combination of high loads and overheating of the headset is accompanied by its accelerated wear and premature failure.

      • Without exception, all chainsaws and their electrical counterparts are equipped with the systems of the same type by the principle of operation, through which the lubrication of the tire, the saw chain and its drive parts is realized.
      • The standard composition of this device includes a tank from which the chain oil is supplied to the pump inlet with a fixed or adjustable capacity.
      • Next, the working fluid in a metered amount enters the groove of the tire, in which the shanks of the saw chain are evenly distributed throughout the headset and the working surface of the crown of the drive sprocket.

      Tires for product sets from 400 mm in length are equipped with a driven sprocket. Periodic lubrication of the bearing is carried out individually, after 6-8 hours of operation.

      Symptoms of a lubricant system malfunction

      The correct choice of consumable lubricant and the excellent operation of the system contribute to complete lubrication, efficient cooling of the saw equipment and the full development of its resource.

      There are several external signs that the chain on the chainsaw is not lubricated. First of all, it is:

      • constant oil level in the tank;
      • increased engine load;
      • accelerated wear of the cutting edges of the saw links;
      • characteristic smell of overheated wood.

      In the simplest version, the cause of oil starvation may be clogged with sawdust oil channels. This disadvantage is typical for budget headsets that do not have convenient access to problem areas.

      Reasons for decreasing system performance and efficiency

      In the right amount, oil is not supplied to the chainsaw chain for several reasons. Of the most characteristic failures, we can name:

      • clogging of the filter located in the oil tank;
      • mechanical failure of one of the elements of the worm pump drive;
      • in winter, the performance of the discharge device is reduced due to filling the system with too thick oil.

      In the latter case, the drive and all pump parts operate at increased loads, initiating serious mechanical damage.

      Advantages of premium class oil pumps

      The maintainability of collapsible pumps is sufficient to restore the operability of the unit at home.

      The gears of the drive of the pumps of budget chainsaws are mostly polymer. Advanced in terms of technical equipment branded models with adjustable performance are equipped with drive mechanisms made of non-ferrous metals. The cost of such systems is offset by an economical, up to 50%, flow rate of the working fluid.

      Self-help troubleshooting feature

      A full-fledged independent repair of the chainsaw chain lubricant, all conditions being equal, requires knowledge of the interaction of all elements of the system, the availability of tools and locksmith skills.

      The restoration of the operating parameters of many chainsaws provides for partial or complete dismantling of the component equipment. To perform complex repair work it is better to use the capabilities and technical potential of service workshops.

      Parts with torn threads and damaged splined joints, as well as non-separable structures that complete the lubrication system of the popular Stihl 180 chainsaws and other similar models, must be replaced.

      If, when the tank is filled, oil does not enter the headset design, the reason should be sought in the pump itself. Dismantling and disassembling the mechanism will help to identify defective parts and eliminate the malfunction by replacing them.

      Checking the system for oil output and performance

      Oil filter contamination results in a significant decrease in pump performance. Checking this option is easy. To do this, you need to hold the headset of the working revolving saw over a clean sheet of paper.

      By the density and size of the oil strip, you can confidently judge the condition of the system and the complexity of the upcoming repair.

      When asked why the repaired lubrication system works, but the right amount of oil does not go to the chain, there is no definite answer. The cause of failure may be mistakes made during assembly, malfunctioning of standard adjustments, inconsistency of the density and viscosity of the selected composition with the declared characteristics.

      Headset oil starvation is possible when installing on a household saw with an uncontrolled pump a longer production tire, which is equipped with professional-grade chainsaw equipment.

      The specifics of repairing Chinese chainsaws

      A significant share of the imported chainsaw range is made up of Chinese-made chainsaw equipment. Many models with more or less success are copied from the best European developments.

      The main advantage of Chinese products of the budget segment is a high level of interchangeability of spare parts, components and systems. For the repair of Chinese chainsaws, in some cases, you can use accessories from models of other manufacturers identical in power and purpose.

      Chainsaw chain not lubricated

      During the long-term operation of the chainsaw, some of its elements and components may become unusable.

      How to adjust the oil supply to the chain in a conventional chainsaw. Proper lubrication of the chainsaw chain

      One of the most vulnerable components is the oil pump. In this regard, many owners of saws have a question about how to repair the oil supply on a chainsaw.

      The task of the oil pump is to supply lubricant to the chain. this is necessary for its smooth movement along the guide rail. When the oil pump fails, the lubrication of the chain deteriorates, and therefore the efficiency of the chainsaw decreases. In some cases, this leads to an open circuit. To prevent negative moments, it is necessary to start repairing the oil supply in a timely manner. How to do it?

      The principle of operation and the design of the pump

      Oil pumps can be made of metal and plastic. They are also divided into two types, which differ in their design:

      The pump is driven by the movement of the drive sprocket. During the movement of the chain, oil is supplied to a special channel located on the guide rail. At idle (when the drive sprocket does not rotate), the pump does not provide lubrication. this is done to save.

      The speed and volume of lubricant supply to the chain directly depends on the number of revolutions of the sprocket. In some models of chainsaws, a manual adjustment system is provided with a special screw located on the device’s body. On expensive saw models, the oil supply is automatically adjusted during operation.

      Main problems with oil supply

      When working a chainsaw, there can be two types of problems with the supply of lubricant to the chain:

      • Inadequate oil flow that can be caused for various reasons. If measures are not taken in time, the quality of work will noticeably deteriorate, and the chain itself may even become worthless.
      • Excessive amount of oil. In this case, after prolonged use, pools of grease may accumulate under the saw. This not only affects the consumption of oil, which will have to be constantly added, but also negatively affects the environment.

      Both of these problems must be fixed as soon as possible after they are discovered. This will extend the life of the saw and reduce the consumption of lubricating fluid.

      Troubleshooting

      If the oil is supplied to the chain in excessive quantities, not only during the operation of the saw, but also at idle, manual adjustment should be made (if the pump design provides such an opportunity). This is done with a screw, which is located on the housing near the guide rail, usually from the bottom or side. By tightening the screw, the oil supply is reduced, by loosening. vice versa. If the adjustment does not help, it is necessary to check the serviceability of the pump, as well as inspect the tire. perhaps at the place of its connection with the housing, a gap has formed through which oil flows past the chain.

      A lack of oil can be caused by several reasons, each of which has its own solution:

      • Faulty oil pump. As a rule, it consists in unsuitable laying. In order to replace it, it is necessary to carefully disassemble the pump so as not to damage its moving parts. Next, a new gasket is installed, after which the pump is assembled and installed in place.
      • Damage to the oil pipe. In the event that the pump gasket is in good condition, or its replacement has not led to a result, the tightness of the hose should be checked. If it is faulty, you need to replace it. Otherwise, it will not be superfluous to clean it and fix it with sealant.

      If the reason is not the failure of the pump, it is necessary to inspect all conductive holes and channels for clogging, and if necessary, clean them of foreign objects. This can be done with a jet of compressed air.

      Partner Chainsaw Chain Oil Adjustment

      Most modern chainsaw oil pumps are designed the same way: in the body (photo 1 pos. 1) there is a cylinder (photo 1 pos. 2), into which a plunger (photo 1 pos. 3) is inserted, making rotational-translational movements in it.

      Cylinder in the lower part it has two holes (only one of them is visible in photo 1 item 4): it is sucked in through one oil, and pushed out into the second.

      Plunger (photo 2). this is a steel rod, on the one hand it has a milling groove. flats, and on the second. a plastic or steel gear. When the plunger rotates, the flats alternately open and close the inlet and outlet openings of the cylinder. When translating upward, the flat first opens the inlet (while closing the outlet) and creates a slight decrease in pressure. Due to this, a portion of the oil is sucked into the cylinder. Then, turning, the plunger moves down, opening the outlet hole with the flat (while closing the inlet) and pushing the oil out of the cylinder. So it is fed to the bus in small portions. Due to the high frequency of cycles, a constant and continuous flow of lubricant is created.

      Are used two types of oil pumps (photo 3): with an adjustable oil flow rate and an unregulated flow rate. In the first case, the gears of the plunger have an oblique tooth, and the translational upward movement is provided by an additionally installed spring. Oil flow control is carried out by changing the stroke length of the plunger in the cylinder. An example is an oil pump for Chinese saws with an engine displacement of 45-52 cc

      In the case of an unregulated oil pump, the plunger has an oblique closed groove in which the fixed stop of the body abuts. The rotation causes the groove to slide along the stop, and since it is oblique, this movement causes the plunger to go forward backward. With such a scheme, it is impossible to limit the stroke of the plunger and oil is supplied in constant quantities. Example. Husqvarna 137, 142 chainsaw oil pump

      The torque from the engine to the plunger is transmitted through a special drive unit, which also has a gear. the counterpart of the gear on the plunger. In fact, this is a worm pair. The oil pump drive is driven either by the drive chain sprocket (photo 4 pos. 1), or by the crankshaft itself (photo 4 pos. 2).

      In the first case, the plunger is mechanically connected to the drive sprocket and rotates only with it. The photo 4 pos. 1 shows the Stihl MS-180 chainsaw drive. The steel antennae clings to a special recess on the cup of the drive sprocket. When the sprocket rotates, the drive rotates with it. In this case, there is no oil supply at idle.

      In the second case, the drive is rigidly fixed on the shaft and constantly rotates with it. In the photo 4 pos. 2, the drive of the oil pump of the Husqvarna 137, 142 chainsaw is shown. It is pressed onto the shank of the crankshaft and rotates with it constantly. Therefore, oil is constantly supplied, even if the saw is in idle mode.

      Usually, one of the gears (either on the plunger or on the drive) is made plastic in order to secure the part with a more complex structure or complicated installation. The first part will break and wear out the plastic part.

      On some saws, the oil pump with the drive may be additionally closed with a special cover (photo 5, the cover of the Chinese chainsaw oil pump 45-52 cc), which protects the worm connection and the pump itself from dirt and wood dust. On some saws, such as Husqvarna 137, 142, the oil pump housing itself closes the connection between the drive and the plunger, thereby acting as a protective cover.

      For normal operation of the tire and chain, a certain amount of lubricant is required.

      adjustment of oil supply to the chainsaw chain

      In order for the design of the lubrication system existing on a chainsaw to give out, the oil must have a suitable viscosity. Judging by the mechanics, the oil pump does not care what kind of oil you use: automobile, transmission or special. The main thing is that the viscosity lies in the established acceptable range. However, this does not mean that any oil can be poured. The task of chain oil is not to save you money on its purchase, but to lubricate the parts of the tire and chain. Different oils do this differently. But more about that in another article “Chain oil. What to pour? ".

      1. In the case of adjusting the base carburetor with the cover removed beforehand, it should be remembered that the regular screw on the left is responsible for setting the amount of the fuel mixture, and the right one is responsible for its quality. A third screw is also provided on the carburetor, indicated by the Latin letter T. With it, you can adjust the position of the base throttle when the engine is idling;
      2. After installing the screws in the desired position, the partner will need to start the defective chainsaw and allow its engine time to warm up. As soon as the standard cylinder heats up, you need to start adjusting the position of the screw of the amount of fuel used. In this case, it is necessary to tighten the screw in the direction of the clock until the motor reaches its maximum speed. Immediately after this procedure, the quantity base screw will need to be turned a quarter turn in the opposite direction;
      3. If after this the idle speed of the motor will be increased or decreased, then they must be adjusted using the screw T;
      4. After that, you need to adjust the quality of the fuel mixture. For this, the right screw will need to be turned until the motor reaches its maximum rotation speed. After that, you need to turn it a quarter of a turn in the opposite direction.
