Setting The Coil To The Trimmer
Huter Trimmer Head. One of the big ambushes of Huter trimmers.
The Huter ETH-1200 Semi-Automatic Trimmer Head comes with a reeled round line 2mm thick and 5m long. Head weight 320g. The head has a spool with a fishing line and two metal holes through which the ends of this fishing line are brought out, carrying out mowing of grass with a rapid rotation of the trimmer head. Designed for Huter Get-1200SL Electric Trimmers.
When mowing grass, the ends of the line wear out and their length decreases. Consequently, the cutting radius becomes smaller. You can restore the length of the ends of the line by lightly hitting the button located in the center of the head against the ground, while the trimmer head is picking up speed. After that, the two ends of the line will be fed, the excess of which will be cut off when you rotate the trimmer knife.
Sooner or later, the line either breaks off one of the cutting ends at the root and needs to be refilled, or the line ends and a new one must be wound.
In short, it becomes necessary to remove the head cover and pull the line spool out of the body. This is where the fun begins. A similar situation is described in Ivan Andreevich Krylov’s fable "monkey and glasses" 🙂
The fact is that the Huter trimmer head has a unique design. I have never met such a company. Opening it to recharge the line is not for the faint of heart.
There is no description of how to do this. The inscription on the reverse side of the head body in English "press to open" did not help. I pressed, tried to turn the body in both directions. Nothing worked.
As time passed, I certainly forgot this unique experience. It was already uncomfortable to bow to Antonina again. I had to turn on my brain and deal with the problem in detail and in detail. The Internet suggested a way to uproot the trimmer head cover. What did not suit at all.
From what was found, I understood the head device. It turned out that the cover rests on four holders that are fixed in the body slots and is fixed with a latch. By wringing it out with an appropriate flat-blade screwdriver and turning the body clockwise, you can easily remove the cover and pull out the bobbin with the rest of the line.
Line threading is standard and is described in detail in the trimmer description. Also not easy, but you can figure it out.
When using the head for a long time, a little earth, grass residues and all kinds of dirt are stuffed into it. For the good of the case, I cleaned the dirt from the body and the outside of the head.
The head is easy to assemble. It is necessary: - tuck the ends of the line into the corresponding holes in the body:
In the photo, among other things, on the bobbin, you can see the slots for attaching fishing line sizes from 1.6 to 2.6 mm. For Huter Get-1200S electric trimmers, a 2mm line is recommended, which is securely fixed in the 2.4mm line slots.
Next:. align the holders with the corresponding slots in the housing cover. by simply pressing on the back side of the housing with the bobbin and line inserted. lock the cover lock latch. turn the housing counterclockwise.
I got great satisfaction after I finally managed to remove the head cover 🙂 The feeling of victory over the recalcitrant and hostile Nature to you 🙂 Like taming Klodt’s horses on the Anichkov bridge in St. Petersburg.
Should I buy such a trimmer head? Only if there is a desire to wrestle with her when replacing the line. In addition, this head weighs 15g higher than that of the Patriot trimmer. How important it is. I do not know.
The plastic is ordinary, I haven’t crumbled yet. But, people complain about its fragility. In case of careless hits on the ground, it can crumble.
In fact, the thread in the head is standard left-hand M10x1.25 LH. Accordingly, a head for a line with a diameter of 2 mm can be used with a standard head with the same thread, for example, from the Patriot trimmer.
There are enough offers at different from different manufacturers on the market. From the most democratic to absolutely outrageous for automatic heads. You can choose the most suitable for you.
Major coil faults
Trimmer users and lawn mowers often encounter a problem with the semi-automatic mowing head. Coil malfunctions can be as follows:
- The line does not lengthen automatically;
- The cord spontaneously comes out of the reel.
Is it possible to make a coil for a trimmer with your own hands
- Take a piece of plywood or PCB and draw a circle about 14 cm in diameter on it.
- Cut the disc with a jigsaw or metal saw.
- Drill a hole in the center of the disc that matches the diameter of the gearbox shaft. Do not forget to put a washer on it before installing the disc on the shaft.
- Small corners can be screwed along the edges of the disc or 1-2 holes can be made on opposite sides. They will serve for refueling the fishing line in them.
- Several screws can be screwed into the plywood to secure the line.
This homemade mowing attachment is attached to the shaft with a nut. It will not work to tighten or unscrew the nut without fixing the shaft. To replace the cord, it will be enough to loosen the screws, insert a piece of line of the required length and press it again.
Also, the mowing head for attaching the fishing line to it can be made of metal sheet. How to do this can be understood from the following.
The cord lengthens spontaneously
There are times when the trimmer user notices a very fast line flow. At the same time, he never hit the ground with the button to lengthen the line. The reason for the fact that the line spontaneously lengthens, being cut on a special knife on the casing of the device, may be the absence of a spring in the mowing head. Often novice users of mowers, trying to load the line into the reel, forget to install the pressure spring in the head, or completely lose it when opening the cover, and in the future, do not even suspect of its existence.
Fitting the coil to the Huter trimmer. Trimmer coil device
Trimmer mowing heads come in a variety of designs, both simple and complex. The picture below shows an exploded view of the Husqvarna (Husqvarna) semi-automatic trimmer head.
This type of head is present on most lawn mowers and trimmers such as Stihl (Stihl), Patriot (Patriot), Champion (Champion), Bosch (Bosch), Huter (Huter) and others. The device of the mowing head is quite simple. It includes the following details:
- Mowing head base;
- Button for semi-automatic cord feed;
- Spool (spool) into which the line is tucked;
- Eyelets. through them the line comes out;
- Trimmer head cover;
- Line (cord).
There are also simpler trim heads shown in the following photo.
All these attachments do not allow changing the length of the line in a semi-automatic mode (after pressing a button). If the cord breaks, you have to stop the mower and change it manually.
