What oil to fill in the gearbox of your Moto-Block?

Changing the oil in the gearbox

Neva” motor blocks, as well as MK100 and MK200 ones, have mechanical chain-wheel reducers housed in aluminum cases. MK70 rotary cultivator has a mechanical chain gearbox in steel case. To keep your gearbox in good working order for a long time, it needs to be serviced regularly. For diagnosis and troubleshooting, consult an Authorized Service Center.

How to choose gear oil

When selecting transmission oil for your gearbox, check the information in your tractor’s or tiller’s owner’s manual. The use of oils that are not on the recommended list, will lead to accelerated wear of gear parts.

How to change oil in a gearbox of a power tiller

Maintenance of the gearbox of motocultivator “Neva” MK200 should be performed every 250 hours of operation. It is better to change oil in the gearbox immediately after operation, because during this period it is easier to drain the oil.

  • Insert the machine in an upright position
  • Place a container with at least 2 liters under the gearbox
  • Remove the breather plug and clean any dirt
  • Remove oil drain screw, drain oil from gearbox
  • After draining oil, screw in oil drain screw with gasket, tighten screw. Dispose of the oil at a used oil collection point.
  • Fill up with 1.15 l fresh gear oil of the appropriate brand and temperature through the breather plug
  • Screw in the breather plug.

Maintenance of the gearbox of motoblock “Neva” is recommended after every 100 hours of operation or every season, whichever comes first. It is recommended to use only gear oil to fill a gearbox.

How to change the oil in a Neva power tiller?

All technical equipment is highly complex and everything is interdependent. If you value your own technique, you dream that it works as long as possible, so you have not just to look after it, but also to buy quality spare parts, oils and fuel. But if you use low-quality oil, you will encounter a number of complications later on and the equipment may need repairs. In this note we will describe what oils (lubricants) are good for a particular machine and how to change oils in a motor-block.

What oil to fill in the gearbox of a power tiller??

Agricultural machinery is even more demanding to maintain than passenger cars in recent years. This is due to the high loads and harsh operating conditions. Due to ignorance or lack of experience many users have a question about what oil to pour into the gearbox of crawler unit for its normal and long-term work.

How much do I fill??

Another important issue is how much oil you need. Before answering your question about how much oil to fill the gearbox of a power tiller, e.g. a Crosser, VIKING, Forza, Sadko, Don, Huter, Pro, LANDER, Champion, Carver, you should first check the oil level in the gearbox. For this, it is necessary to perform certain actions:

  • You need to put the single-axle tractor on a level surface so that its wings are strictly parallel to this surface.
  • Take a wire or rod about 70 cm long, which will act as an oil dipstick.
  • Bending the improvised probe into an arc.
  • Insert the dipstick into the hole as far as it will go.е. to the stop. After that we pull it back out.

If the wire is 30 cm in oil, then this is the optimum quantity.е. No need to fill up oil. If a little less, it is necessary to make a refill within the given values.

If the gearbox is dry at all, you will need at least two liters of transmission oil.

Engine oil for a power tiller engine

When buying a single axle tractor, it is always accompanied by its trouble-free operation manual, in which the manufacturer gives recommendations and sets the frequency of maintenance, class of the oil used, etc. To avoid premature engine repair or replacement, you must strictly adhere to the manufacturer’s requirements.

The main purpose of the lubricants:

  • Reduce the friction force.
  • Heat sink.
  • Protecting the inner surface of power units from sludge and slag deposits.
  • Reduction of engine noise level.

For technologically correct choice of lubricant it is necessary to take into account that any brand of engine oil for a power tiller is designed for certain operating conditions and is selected on the basis of climatic conditions of the region and the value of mechanical loads.

Depending on these characteristics the necessary viscosity index is chosen, which is necessary for quality work of all mechanisms:

In addition to seasonality, the functional purpose of engine oil for a motor block is influenced by its base and type of modifying additives. According to the method of production, lubricants are divided into the following categories:

Another feature of greases is their purpose for a specific type of engine: gasoline, diesel, two- or four-stroke.

Engine oil for gasoline engine of a motorblower

For power tillers with petrol engines the lubricants with index S followed by the letter designation of the mechanical loads level:

SA. provides the engine operation in a moderate mode of operation;

SB. medium level of mechanical loads;

fill, gearbox, your

SD. for engines equipped with a crankcase gas recirculation system. PCV;

SH. for all modern minitractors.

The SB class is characterized by high antioxidant and anticorrosive properties.

Can-Am Commander Transmission Fluid Change: How-To Change Gearbox Oil Can-Am UTV

SF is characterized by good non-stick properties, especially when using lubricants in two-stroke engines.

Engine oil for the diesel engine of a motoblock

Oil for diesel engines can be divided into the following categories (API):

CJ-4. designed for powerful units operating in extreme conditions. Characterized by high non-stick properties and low m sulfur and phosphorus inclusions (04-0,12%).

CI-4. for engines with moderate operating requirements. Characterized by high dispersant and antioxidant properties.

CH-4. for four-stroke units, running on any brands of diesel fuel.

CF-2. oil for power tractors with two-stroke engines. Good protection for machine parts against premature wear.

CA. for power tillers operated on low sulfur diesel fuels. Characterized by high non-stick properties.

CB. grease with good corrosion protection properties.

CC. fluid is designed for lubrication of powerful engines, working in harsh climatic conditions.

Oil for air-cooled four-stroke tractor engines

Motor lubricants for four-stroke motor blocks must meet the following requirements:

  • Low kinematic viscosity.
  • High anti-friction and anti-wear properties.
  • Thermal conductivity.
  • Non-stick properties with good detergency properties that allow easy removal of soot from the engine cylinder walls.
  • High temperature resistance with negative coking that prevents the piston rings from sticking.

Is it necessary to add oil to petrol for a power tiller??

To find out, if it is necessary to dilute gasoline for a power tiller, it is necessary to study its instruction manual. The oil fill label indicates whether the engine is a 2-stroke or 4-stroke.

If a single-axle tractor is equipped with a 2-stroke motor, then the fuel mixture for it must necessarily consist of gasoline and oil. During the preparation of the mixture, follow the exact proportion specified by the manufacturer in the instruction manual. At the same time, fuel for a power tiller with a 4-stroke engine does not need to be mixed with oil, because all 4 strokes of such engines run on pure fuel.

It should be remembered that motoblocs, in which diesel is poured, also do not need to prepare the fuel mixture. The fact is that all diesel engines are 4-stroke engines and run on pure fuel.

How to check the level?

Checking the oil level is carried out according to the standard technology, which everyone is used to. For this purpose, there is a special dipstick in the device of the motoblock, which is deepened inside the unit. After taking it out of the hole, on the tip of the dipstick you can see a limiting strip, the level of which is equal to the oil level. If the fluid is insufficient, you need to refill it. On the other hand, this nuance makes it necessary to check the entire system, as a low level of lubricant indicates that it leaks somewhere.

In addition to the standard dipstick, some motorcycle models have special sensors that automatically indicate the amount of lubricant present. Even in the process of replacing the oil liquid by it you can determine how much the size of the lubricant has increased or its lack.

Is it necessary to add oil to the gasoline for a power tiller??

This important question interests the vast majority of beginning farmers. Before giving an answer to this, it is necessary to study the technical characteristics of the motorblock available in the farm, and specifically the strokes of its motor. According to this feature, all internal combustion engines are divided between 2-stroke and 4-stroke.

A fuel mixture of fuel and engine oil should only be poured into 2-stroke engines. In the process of its preparation it is necessary to adhere strictly to the proportion specified by the manufacturer in the enclosed manual of the power tiller. When fueling motor blocks, working from 4-stroke engines, you do not need to perform such a procedure, because the work of 4-stroke engines supports pure gasoline.

Remember that you must not dilute diesel with engine oil in order to refuel diesel engine blocks, as all such engines belong to the class of 4-stroke internal combustion engines. The name Canada emerged from ignorance of the locals’ language. If you do not follow this rule and mix fuel and motor oil into a 4-stroke engine, it will inevitably lead to engine failure, which will require costly repairs

What oil to fill in the gearbox of a power tiller. choose means

Choosing the right lubricant for your existing motorcycle gearbox depends on several factors. First and foremost, this includes the recommendations of the manufacturer of the agricultural equipment used. The second, no less important feature is the cost of purchased oil.

Directly in the store, special attention should be paid to the oil viscosity. as a rule, this parameter is indicated on the can with the material. Also, if necessary, you can always buy special additives in the store, which can significantly improve the properties of the selected lubricant.

In practice, the most optimal means for the lubrication of the gearbox is considered to be gear oil. This composition is able to prevent various failures of the mechanism and protect its rotating parts when working in harsh conditions. One of the leaders in the domestic market are considered transmission oils brand ZIC 10W40. this semi-synthetic material covers the gearbox parts with a thin film, and protects them from wear.

Changing the oil in a motor block. how to do it yourself?

Immediately before performing the procedure, the gearbox of your power tiller must be cleaned from the old lubricant. It is not difficult to do. in some cases you will need to disassemble and dismantle certain parts of the motoblock, but most units have easy access to the gearbox drain cover.

The procedure for changing the oil is as follows:

  • To begin with, the existing single axle tractor will need to be placed on any elevation. this will make it much easier to drain the oil from the gearbox. If necessary, you can put bricks under the wheels of the machine;
  • There is an oil drain plug at the bottom of the gearbox and an oil fill plug at the top. First you need to unscrew the filler plug, and then put a wide container under the drain plug;
  • Next you need to start carefully unscrewing the drain plug. As soon as oil begins to flow out of it, the plug must be unscrewed completely and wait until all the lubricant has drained out;
  • After that you need to screw in the drain plug, insert the funnel into the filler hole and pour in new oil;
  • After pouring in the required amount of oil, screw the oil filler plug back in. On its underside is a special dipstick, about 10 cm long. it is designed for checking the oil level. If the filled lubricant reaches the tip of the dipstick, you do not need to fill more oil. details about the sequence of oil replacement in the gearbox of a domestic power tiller can be found in the video.

If the agricultural machine is used very intensively, this procedure will need to be performed every 50 hours of work done. In all other cases, a one-time replacement of the product for every 100 hours of machine operation will suffice.

How much oil to fill in the gearbox of your power tiller?

Just before you fill in the new oil, find out how much of the old stuff you have poured into the gearbox.

This is done in this order:

  • First, the single-axle tractor is placed on a flat surface;
  • Then a metal wire, at least 70 cm long, is taken and bent into an arc;
  • The resulting product must be pulled through the existing filling hole and pushed through as far as it will go. As soon as the wire touches the bottom of the gearbox, pull it back out.

After that you need to calculate the length of the oiled wire. If the product turned out to be about 30 cm in the lubricant, this is considered the optimal amount of oil to pour into the gearbox when replacing. If the homemade brush turned out to be completely dry, then you will need to pour at least 2 liters of previously unused gear lubricant into the gearbox of your motoblock.
