No wick in the Bosch gas heater

Why does the igniter of the gas column goes out:

Dust has clogged the wick of the gas heater;. Air flow from outside (flameout);. Absence of draught in the chimney;. Sensors for draught control are defective;. Worn out or burned out thermocouple;. Poor contact between the sensor and the control unit;. Ionization sensor out of the flame range.

The most common reason why the igniter goes out is a defective thermocouple. The thermocouple is a safety device component designed to shut off the gas flow when the gas heater does not work properly. When the igniter goes out, the thermocouple detects a lack of heat due to a lack of flame, and turns off the gas. However, if the thermocouple is burnt and its tip is friable from long term exposure to fire, it becomes the reason why the igniter goes out.

If, however, the thermocouple is burnt and the tip is friable from prolonged exposure to fire, it is the reason why the igniter goes out. Another problem is that the holes of the gas nozzle on the igniter are small in diameter and can become blocked with dust and debris, which prevents the igniter from burning properly and results in insufficient heating of the thermocouple.

Outgoing air currents from outside can blow out the ignition burner. As a rule, a downward flow of air occurs if the appliance is not properly ventilated. Be careful when repairing the gas boiler, do not confuse this phenomenon with a lack of draft.

Gas heaters have solenoid valves that relate to the gas control system. If the ventilation system malfunctions and carbon monoxide gas enters the room, the solenoid valve will cut off the gas supply and the igniter will go out.

Settled black soot around the igniter pad and on the heat exchanger itself is another problem why the igniter goes out. This soot appears from incomplete combustion of gas. A buildup of soot on the heat exchanger can create major air ventilation problems and cause the igniter to go out during operation.

Signs of a malfunctioning igniter

Pay attention to the color of the igniter flame. It shows how well and properly the gas burns. A wick that effectively burns natural gas burns with a blue flame. The color of the blue flame should be at least 90 % blue with small red speckles and a slightly yellow tip. Orange or mostly yellow color shows us problems with the pilot burner, which can lead to an emergency stop of the heater.

Why does the igniter smoke?? If the ratio of air to fuel becomes less than standard values, the color of the flame turns yellow and the igniter begins to smoke and burn sluggishly. This causes insufficient heating of the thermocouple and the igniter goes out.

The most common reason why the igniter goes out is a defective thermocouple. Thermocouple is a element of a safety device designed to block the gas flow in case of unstable operation of the gas heater.

No spark in the gas column. the reason: failure of the piezo element, the electrode or its displacement. This malfunction is observed in cases where the piezo element does not switch off (approximately 30 seconds).). After that the ignition wick goes out. Repair, if the piezo ignition does not work, is to replace the node.

Problems in the work of Bosch Therm gas heaters. What is the cause and how to repair

I have a household gas-flowing boiler Bosch Therm 2000 W10 automatic (batteries). Explain what caused it to fail to heat water? What would you advise me to do to correct the situation?

First problem. The reason is the dirt in the heat exchanger. Limescale buildup in the heat exchanger baffles can make it difficult to heat water as required and the water heater begins to heat water unsatisfactorily. In this case we need to clean the heat exchanger. The second factor. Regular overheating of the heat exchanger. This is caused by improper use of the unit. The increase in temperature contributes to the formation of scale that complicates the heating of the liquid. In such a situation replace the heat exchanger.

I use this model gas water heater at home. After four years of operation, the heat exchanger started leaking. The repair helped not for a long time, and after 2 months I bought a new water heater. The master installer said that maintenance and cleaning should be done every year. I’ve had it cleaned and serviced. As a result, this device has worked for 4 years, and the problem is the same. The heat exchanger is leaking. What can cause this??

We assume that the water is of poor quality, for this reason, heat exchangers leak.

The model of this brand is in operation. Somebody explain why the water is sometimes too hot? What kind of fault is it??

Controls seem to be set incorrectly. The summer time setting should be done. Use the gas flow control knob to decrease the gas on the burner and then add water flow to the heater.

The Bosch Therm 4000 S WTD Turbo gas water heater is having trouble. The fuse lights up, I keep it in this position for about 4 minutes. Then I bring it back to the operating state, but the appliance goes out. Why does it happen?

You need to remove the trim, take out the tube that feeds the gas to the wick, and clean. In principle, this operation should be done at least once a year, preferably after the summer, when the windows are open and the gas pipe gets clogged with dust.

I can not understand, in what cases the gas-fired heater sometimes begins to work poorly in the heating cycle. What should be done?

Presumably, the burner has an unstable flame, which indicates a faulty diaphragm, and the pressure of the stem on the gas valve is insufficient. You have to dismantle the water heater from the gas appliance. Then from the water unit unscrew the cap and check the membrane for ruptures, and if it is damaged, make a replacement.

At the end of last year was connected to heat a private house with a gas boiler of this brand. The other day a problem with the ignition was detected. When a request comes in for hot water, the ignition of the ignition device. It ignites and suddenly goes out, and then the water heater turns on again. And this way two or three times. Then the functionality of the appliance is normalized. I don’t understand why the igniter flame can’t ignite the main burner? What can happen? Now the speaker works like this. A spark is created which ignites the wick. Then the spark disappears, the wick works for about five seconds and then goes out. The appliance gives out a spark discharge again, ignites the igniter, the spark disappears, and after a while the main burner starts to work.

There is probably a problem with the ionization sensor. You should first inspect it. Although, it is advisable to install a new one, but if it fails, you will have to clean this one with sandpaper. Also clean the burner, using a metal brush. After these procedures, make sure that the burner is not a yellow flame, but a blue one. In addition, the fire should hit the ionization sensor.

Installed and connected a Bosch Therm 4000 O WR gas burner at the end of the year. But with the onset of winter, the problem began to arise regularly, in particular the lack of gas and not clean gas. Help to solve the problem?

At the bottom of the unit there is an adjustment screw. It is required to turn it counterclockwise with the burner on and adjust the correct height of the fire. When summer comes, screw it back on. If this action does not remedy the situation, it is likely that the pressure in the line is indeed low.

The boiler has been in use for almost six years. Recently the ignition device has stopped working, and when you try to ignite it with a match, the flame can go out immediately, setting the regulator in operating position. How to fix it?

I had the same problem. Repairmen say the thermocouple needs to be replaced.

Please explain the fault of the gas boiler. If I open the hot water tap, the machine goes out. Cleaned the thermocouple, but it does not help. Checked the diaphragm, it is normal, although replaced with a new one anyway. The water pressure decreased, but not significantly. Where to look for the source of the problem?

Seems to be a weak draught or the draught sensor is out of order. You need to check this. Sometimes a bent tube is mounted on top of the unit to replace the traction sensor. It is used to supply the air required for combustion. If the draft is not correct, you get smoke instead of air in the tube. Therefore, there may be a lack of oxygen to the burner, and it goes out. Additionally check the flame of the ignition burner. It should completely envelop the thermocouple. If this does not happen, then the thermocouple heats little and stops the main burner signal to ignite.

Three days ago the following malfunction appeared: gas water heater Bosch Therm 6000 O WRD automatic started switching off in the operating mode. Please tell me what the cause is and how to fix it?

The diaphragm in the water block is most likely defective. It is deformed or worn, therefore, it must be replaced. We also advise you to check the gas solenoid valve, since there is a solenoid coil inside it, which may have a malfunction. Coil can not be repaired, only to be replaced.

How to commission Bosch HydroPower Hot Water System

Tell us about the faults of the gas water heater. After about 3 to 4 minutes after starting, the device switches off completely, and the pilot burner can only be ignited with matches. What can be done?

Most likely, there is no draft in the chimney, which triggers the sensor on the draft, and the device turns off. Need to have the chimney checked. It could also be overheating of the liquid in the heat exchanger once the temperature reaches 90 degrees. In this case the overheat sensor will be triggered and will extinguish the appliance. To reduce the temperature of water, we recommend reducing the gas supply to the main burner with the regulator.

We would like to know what the problem is if the gas heater ignites and extinguishes instantly? How to eliminate this kind of failure?

First Cause. This is a contaminated chimney. Probably a large amount of soot deposits in the main burner and removal of combustion products is difficult, which causes the draught detector to be activated. Thermocouple opens and water heater flame goes out. Next reason. is a gusty wind, which can extinguish the flame of the unit if there is a draught in the room. Consequently, the safety system is triggered and the gas supply is blocked. Do not allow a strong gust of wind. But you do not need to close the access to fresh air at all, as the appliance should function with an open vent. If there is no fresh air, there is a decrease in draft and the flame will start to go out.

In a private home has a gas boiler Bosch Term turbo. Tell me why it heats too much water? What to do to correct this problem?

The presumed cause could be high pressure. Set the water temperature regulator to maximum flow and set the gas regulator to minimum flow to the burner. This method can help lower the temperature of the water at the outlet of the appliance.

What is the reason that the ignition delay can occur and the gas burner claps loudly?

The ignition burner’s flame does not reach the main burner or the flame is unstable. You need to clean ignition device and nozzle. Then perform the setting.

Malfunction of the gas water heater. I try to start the appliance, the spark is visible, but the ignition of the pilot burner is not working. How to fix it?

The ignition burner nozzle is clogged. You need to clean. Ignition electrode is not in the correct position. Adjust it. Air in the gas line. Remove the air.

Install and connect the Bosch Therm 6000 O battery powered gas boiler. The problem is that the appliance turns on, but then goes out after two seconds. This usually happens at night, when the appliance has been idle for some time. Also, if it heats water constantly, it does not turn off at all. If the microswitch is clicked for a long time, the water heater ignites and works normally for several days. What is the reason?

Do not reset the microswitch, just replace it with a new one, because yours is inoperative. The action of the appliance is roughly as follows. Initially a spark is formed, it is fed to the igniter. Ionization signal is emitted, gas starts flowing to the main burner, and a flame appears. If there is no signal that the ignition burner is functioning, the main burner unit will not start either. In your case, the igniter gives a signal, but the main burner can not start. The ignition seems to start, but there is no signal, so the gas supply is blocked. Try cleaning the electrode.

In operation the device is the same brand. Why the igniter may go out during ignition? What kind of fault it is?

Damage to the thermocouple. Replace it. Coil defect. Need to replace.

I have a question about the Bosch Therm 2000 O W 10 KB automatic gas heater. The situation is as follows: The ignition device has ignited, but the main burner does not want to. What do I have to do and how do I repair it??

Water pressure too low. Adjust required pressure in system. For this purpose we suggest to turn the regulator to the right up to the stop. Diaphragm is worn out. Replace the element.

In a holiday home there is a water heater. If water flow is interrupted, the gas burner will not turn off. What is the source of the fault??

Slide valve in the gas valve is blocked. Inspect it. Clean this element if necessary. The piston of the hydrovalve may not be moving when the valve is open. Dismantle parts, clean, replace if necessary. Check gas pressure at inlet. Adjust if necessary. Replace pressure reducer on cylinder.

I can’t understand why there is no spark when I start the unit?

Thermocouple wire breakage. Thermocouple wire breakage Secure wire properly. The ignition element is defective. Inspect this element and replace it. Damaged ignition electrode. Need to replace it.

The Neva Lux boiler does not ignite. Error codes

L0. lack of gas supply. The cause is too high pressure in the gas line. It is necessary to install a pressure reducing valve. Probably also the temperature or the water pressure needs to be regulated.

Е1. No signal from the flame sensor to the control board. Reasons could be different, check gas supply, water flow, electrode blockage, loose contacts, soot blockage.

wick, bosch, heater

Е3. Valve actuates before receiving a signal from the flow sensor. Have to be checked by a professional, because either the valve or the electronic block is out of order.

E7, the column doesn’t light up although there have been seven attempts to turn it on. This happens when the gas or water block boils. Shifting of ionization gauges, electrovalves failure.

E8, draught sensor is triggered. The causes are either a clogged vent or a broken sensor.

The reasons why the gas water heater does not ignite

If the hot water in the house provides, the column, its “failure” to work. a real disaster. There are several reasons, which we will try to consider.

Not all failures can be fixed with your own hands, but it is still necessary to deal with them.

When the gas water heater does not turn on because of poor water pressure

Even in the evening the water heater was doing a great job, and in the morning it did not turn on at the most inopportune moment. Unfortunately, it is not impossible. It may be the lack of water pressure. In this case, the first thing to check is whether the cold water is good.

If yes, then we should look for the reasons in the water heater.

  • Check whether the water filters on the water heater are not clogged. They may need to be cleaned and flushed, or even replaced.
  • Check the faucet. It happens that it also clogs the filters and fails. Another reason. because of its malfunction, too much cold water is added to the hot water. As a result, the stream of water going into the speaker becomes smaller, and the appliances stop working.
  • Scale buildup will also be the reason why the speaker “does not want” to turn on.
  • Low water pressure is sometimes due to defects in the water unit and you want to replace the membrane (frog), which has weakened and does not perform its intended function.
  • Pipes that carry hot water also clog from time to time and need to be cleaned and flushed.

Some of the problems are not too difficult to cope with on their own. Replacing the filters and even the faucet will not cause much trouble. To replace the membrane, you will need to disassemble the water assembly. If the speaker does not light up when you open the water for serious reasons, it is easier to call a specialist. The appropriate services will also clean the speaker from soot and grime and flush the pipes intended for hot water,

Let’s talk about those failures, which you can cope with yourself.

  • The filter on the speaker is easy to clean yourself when it is clogged with rust coming from the speaker or substances contained in the liquid itself. To do this, the grid is removed and rinsed under the tap. Generally such measures are sufficient to restore the head pressure.
  • When the scale accumulates in the speaker itself, in its water heating block, apply to the appropriate services, but it is worth trying to clean the speaker itself. To do this unscrew all fittings and remove the cover. The nut from the heat exchanger is unscrewed, and it is set aside. The cold water inlet tap is shut off and the hot water inlet tap is opened. This will remove water from the heat exchanger, which will have to be drained of about 1 liter. After the water is drained off, a hose is put on the radiator with a funnel and a descaling liquid that contains hydrochloric acid is poured in.

The liquid is drained after 2 hours, also using a hose. It is desirable to put a basin under the faucet, so that the accumulated dirt in the heat exchanger, does not fall into the sink. If there is not enough slag in the basin, then the whole process of cleaning is repeated again. Following safety rules, these works are carried out with gloves and safety glasses.

When a gas water heater fails to ignite when there is no draft

There is a high probability that if soot and soot accumulate in the chimney, the heater will not turn on. Carbon dioxide will accumulate instead of escaping. This leads to the fact that the water heater either does not turn on at all, or quickly goes out. Even worse if carbon monoxide from the chimney begins to penetrate into the room. The problem will arise if the intensity of the back draft will be reduced. Then the danger will endanger people.

How to understand if a gas water heater does not ignite well due to draught-related reasons? To do this, open a window pane and light a match in front of the chimney opening. If the light goes to the side, then the draft is normal. If not, you have to solve the problem.

In order to restore the draught and clean the chimney, call the appropriate services. Doing the cleaning yourself, you can damage the communications, as for such work still requires some experience.

But before you call the utility company, consider one more thing. Is it sure there is no antenna over the outlet of the canal? If it’s close by, it might be blocking the flow of air. To get the draught back to normal, it is enough to move the antenna a little.

Another reason. too powerful hood. installed to remove odors. That’s why the gas doesn’t go out like usual, but through the kitchen itself.

When the gas boiler “Bosch“, “Neva” “Ariston” and others do not turn on because of problems with the membrane and the gas block

“Frog”, as it is simply called by people. an important detail in the speaker, on which the water pressure can depend. It plays an important role in turning on the speaker. Therefore, it needs to be constantly monitored, and sometimes replaced. When the gas boiler “Bosch” does not ignite, the reasons are often in the membrane. Most often the water heater does not turn on immediately, goes out after a few seconds. That’s why the frog has to be replaced.

To remove the membrane will first have to disconnect from the water-gas system pipes, which supply water and gas. The water and gas will have to be temporarily shut off, using the inlet cocks. After that, it is better to follow the step-by-step instructions for removing the membrane.

  • Disconnect in the suggested sequence: heat exchanger tube, wire (grounding), connectors of the switch, and then the gas valve, wires leading to the batteries.

At the same time it will be possible to inspect the gas block. When disassembling the water-gas unit, the gas block rod will be visible. It should move while turning off and on the heater. That’s why a packing unit is put in, which over time comes into disrepair and is replaced with a new. Then the operation of the water heater is restored.

When a gas boiler with electric ignition ignites badly

When a gas water heater with an electric ignition does not ignite well, it just clicks, the reason is most likely in the batteries, which over time are running low. Why won’t the battery-operated gas heater turn on? Most likely because it’s time to replace them with new ones.

The power elements in water heaters usually run out after at least six months, and even after a year and a half. Then the gas column clicks, but does not ignite. If it becomes clear that the reason for this, it is enough to remove the cover and install new batteries.

Behind it is the ignition electrode, mounted on a latch, which is easy to remove.

After that, unscrew all the screws and bolts and remove the burner. Using a screwdriver, press on the thermocouple, and it comes out of the body of the burner. The burner itself is slowly removed from the gas block.

All screws and bolts unscrewed for cleaning. There are 2 parts that are separated from the gas ramp. And carefully clean and reassemble.

In automatic speakers the batteries may not work, then you will have to change them.

If you are not assured that you will cope with problems independently, call the certified experts who will quickly define the reason of a malfunction and will eliminate it.

When the gas boiler does not ignite due to a lack of spark

Sometimes the most trivial reason interferes with normal ignition. The button is held for a much shorter time than it should be. It is worth increasing the holding time for 10 seconds, and the technique will begin to work. Sometimes a simple maintenance and cleaning of the wick is enough. But perhaps there really was a breakdown failed piezo element. To correct the situation, they replace the assembly itself. It is better to do it professionals.

When there is a spark, but the heater quickly goes out during operation

Usually the heater turns off after it has been running for a few minutes. Faulty temperature sensors are to blame. They are installed then, so that the heater does not experience overheating. So you can’t turn it on again right away. It takes at least a quarter of an hour for it to start working again.

It happens that the technique at times works well, and at times shuts down almost immediately. Then most likely the insulating material of the sensor is at fault and needs to be replaced.

If you feel it’s too hot in the kitchen, ventilate it more often, and then the water heater will work better.

When there is no gas or not enough pressure

Usually when you turn on the water heater there is an odor of gas, and you can hear a peculiar sound that indicates the flow of gas. It is worth to call and find out if the gas is not turned off for some significant reason, such as in connection with repairs.

If the gas boiler “Bosch” does not ignite, then the reason is most likely that the setting of the gas supply is not made correctly. Just change the settings and you won’t have any problems with the burner.

If the equipment is still noisy?

If after the done manipulations, the gas boiler when turning on the water still ignites with a pop, it is better to stop further independent investigation. In such situations, you will have to seek help from qualified professionals.

They will carry out competent diagnostics of equipment, will be able to establish clearly what is the cause of popping and already on the basis of received data they can provide you with variants of solution of problem.

In certain cases, self-repair is not possible, then the rational solution is to cooperate with qualified specialists

The most popular cause of the igniter extinguishing is the failure of the thermocouple. When the igniter goes out there is a lack of heat, because there is no fire, the thermocouple detects it and turns off the gas. Thermocouple. an element that is designed to turn off the gas in the case of a faulty operation of the gas heater.

Why does the gas water heater light up and go out:

Faulty flame ionization sensor; Faulty solenoid valve or servomotor; Bad contact between sensor and control unit; Ionization sensor out of range of flame.

Repair with their own hands Junkers (Junkers) and Bosch (Bosch) speakers

Why one article at a time about columns of two different brands Junkers and Bosch? In essence, the columns Junkers WR-11 and Bosch WR-10. is the same column. They have slight differences in body and handles. For example, on Junkers speakers, you can find a tap that is fixed to the water block and is sold together with the speaker. That is basically the end of the differences. Inside the casing you will find the same contents. Both columns are semi-automatic, have proven themselves with their simplicity, maintainability, the price of new products. In Russia they have been very popular for a long time. You can do the repair of these gas-fired boilers with your own hands, using my step-by-step instructions for disassembly.

How does the speaker work?? To ignite it, you must set the slider on the front panel to the middle position and push it. Thus we forcibly open the gas solenoid valve and supply gas to the igniter (wick) of the gas burner. To ignite the gas, it is necessary to ignite it with the piezo element, which is located in the left bottom corner of the device. After the spark has ignited the gas coming out of the wick (igniter), you must continue to keep the slider button pressed for 10 to 40 seconds. At this time the thermocouple of the column is heating. Then release the slider, the wick should continue to burn without being pressed. If it did not happen, it is necessary to repeat the whole procedure from the beginning. If the igniter does not light, then most likely the speaker needs repair or maintenance, cleaning the wick (igniter). After the thermocouple heats up, it generates an EMF, which keeps the gas solenoid valve of the heater in the open position. The heater is ready to work. It remains only to set the desired flow rate of your gas with the slider and the flow rate of water on the water block.

What happens when you open the hot water faucet tap? Next, everything is simple. The diaphragm of the water block presses on the rod, which in turn opens the mechanical gas valve, and the gas is fed to the main burner of the Bosch (Junkers) burner. The gas mixture is ignited by the burning wick of the igniter and heats the water, which flows through the radiator of the gas water heater.

Next, let’s look at the order of disassembly of gas columns Junkers (Junkers) and Bosch (Bosch) to make repairs with their own hands, cleaning or maintenance. They are disassembled very easily:

1.We remove the handle with a water block, expose the slider gas regulator in the middle position, unscrew the two screws from the bottom of the speaker housing (on Junkers may be simply clip-clips) and remove the housing.

Unscrew two self-tapping screws that fix a gas extraction device cover to the column housing and two self-tapping screws on the cover plate that fixes the radiator (heat exchanger) of a gas column.

Remove the draft sensor 1 (it is located on the right side of the smoky emission hood), disconnect wires from it. We remove the temperature sensor 2 from the heat exchanger by disconnecting the wires of automatics. There are slight differences between Junkers and Bosch. In Bosch the wires from the draught sensor are removed, in Junkers they are soldered. Do not try to remove it but it will break.

Next, nothing prevents us from disconnecting the gas cap from the heat exchanger (radiator) and the heater body.

To remove the heat exchanger it is necessary to pull out the threaded socket from the left socket of the heat exchanger, previously removing the latch. You can not remove the threaded socket, but unscrew the hot water hose from it. From the right socket of the heat exchanger it is necessary to remove the tube that connects the heat exchanger to the water block of the gas boiler. It is also fastened on the latch, after removing the latter it can be removed. Rubber rings are used as seals in both spigots. They often leak, after disassembly and reassembly, t.к. The rubber ages and dries out. You have to disassemble carefully. When assembling I advise to change the rubbers, and in any case the tubes should be greased when assembling.

Nothing prevents us from removing the heat exchanger. Although Bosch has two brackets for the heat exchanger stamped on the back of the case. It is better to bend them up. They are not really needed and do not influence anything. After that we remove the heat exchanger of the gas boiler upwards.

We disconnect the igniter tube from the burner. It is fastened at the top with a clip (if it was not thrown out before you) and in the area of the nozzle is fastened in the latch. Use a screwdriver to pry up the tube in the area of the latch and remove it from the groove at the top.

Behind the igniter tube there is a ceramic ignition electrode. It is also mounted on a quick release latch and is easy to remove.

In order to remove the burner, we unscrew a pair of self-tapping screws that fix the burner to the housing of the gas column, and a pair of screws that fix the burner in the gas block of the column. Next, gently press down on the thermocouple with a screwdriver so that it comes out of the burner housing. You can wiggle the burner up out of the gas block.

To clean the burner, take it apart. To do this, we need to unscrew the 4 self-tapping screws. Separate the two parts of the burner from the gas train.

Disassembling of the device is completed. For maintenance (cleaning) this is quite enough. The gas block usually is not broken, if no one ever went there. Nothing to do there. This is the factory product. If it is necessary, you can take off and disassemble the water block to change the diaphragm or stuffing box cover.

Thoroughly wipe the disassembled elements, wash them of dust, soot and other deposits.

Special attention to the heat exchanger. I wash it both inside and outside with chemical or citric acid solution. By the way it is good for scale and rust from the inside. If the water is from a well, with high rigidity, then it is simply necessary to do at each service, because it overgrows from the inside so that the compressor then do not blow it out. Scale and soot impair heat transfer, increase gas consumption, can lead to heat exchanger failure. Burned-out heat exchangers on these speakers are rare, but clogged with soot very often. And the Bosch, and Junkers speaker in this case begin to heat water poorly. Usually all these faults appear in early winter when the water via pipes begins to move colder than in summer.

Dust accumulates in the burner, which enters the unit with the air, and the combustion products are poured on top of the gap. In this speaker burner without disassembly can not be cleaned, so chase away all those who offer you to clean the speaker vacuum cleaner this freeloaders!

Thoroughly clean the thermocouple from carbon deposits and soot. Burnt thermocouples on these speakers did not meet. The piezo ignition electrode insulator is best wiped clean of soot and dirt with alcohol, so that it does not pierce the housing. Blow out the igniter tube from the dust. often because of this dirt in the tube the wick becomes weak, smoking, poorly heats the thermocouple and the speaker may go out and not ignite. Cleaning the tube usually solves the problem and the speaker wick lights up. Ideally the igniter flame should be blue and hit the thermocouple horizontally. If the wick flame is yellow and goes up with a big tongue, an igniter obviously needs to be cleaned.

Signs of improper operation of igniter (wick)

Why does the wick in a gas water heater go out?

Recall that the igniter is designed to ignite the main combustion system at the water supply. The flame is caused by the combustion of the heat and air mixture. The igniter heats the thermocouple, physically reaching the main burner.

If the wick goes out, the process fails. In order to prevent overheating of technical units of the column and, most importantly, gas accumulation, triggers an emergency shutdown of gas supply. As a result the wick extinguishes automatically.

It is possible to understand that the gas boiler requires an urgent maintenance without any professional knowledge. The consumer will easily be convinced of this by noticing:

  • The predominance of yellow and orange glare of the flame. The normal color of the flame is blue with an allowable inclusion of yellowing up to about 10%;
  • Excessively noisy operation of equipment. There will be no absolute silence when you turn on the speaker, but the strong rattle, rattling indicate possible problems in some node.

You must remember that the igniter with piezore ignition device constantly burns. It is necessary for instant activation of the device when turning on the water. Inoperative wick stops gas supply to the column.
