The fuel mix ratio is 1:50 (2%) or 20 ml/cm3 oil to 1 litre of petrol. For example, pour half a measure of gasoline into a clear plastic bottle (1 liter), then use a medical syringe (20 ml/cm3) to inject two-stroke oil and mix it, pour the gasoline and mix it thoroughly. If the quality of the petrol is doubtful or the working conditions are difficult, you can increase the amount of oil to 22-25 ml/cm3. Shake mixture before each filling! Store the fuel for no more than two weeks! If the mixture has changed color (from aquamarine to brown, for example), you should not use it!

Let’s start the lawnmower’s running-in period

After start-up, do not rush to run the grass trimmer immediately. Allow the engine to warm up for about 5 minutes at idle speed. While the engine is warming up adjust the air supply with the choke knob so that the filament bobbin or blade does not rotate. Once the tool is warmed up, open the air supply by moving the lever to the “ON” position and squeeze the throttle trigger to 1/2 and hold for 20 30 seconds. Then we drop the throttle and let the trimmer work at idle for 30-40 seconds. Keep it like that for about 10-15 minutes. Then turn off the engine and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes.

After the lawnmower has cooled down, continue running in the engine according to the previous scheme. Start the grass trimmer when it is hot, with the air shutter already open. Try not to hold the gas for a long time, because moving parts of the tool only rub against each other. Do not let the engine idle for a long time because it can overheat.

The next step is the running-in of the reducer of the gasoline grasshopper. You should choose an area with soft young grass. Mow for 510 minutes with 1/22/3 of full throttle. After that, take a break for 20 to 25 minutes. Repeat the cycle 34 times.

Protective guards. Never operate the brushcutter without its protective guard. It is a danger to life and limb and may overload the brushcutter engine. You should use only one protective cover for each type of cutting attachment provided by the manufacturer.

To repair your brushcutter by yourself

It should be noted that it is not always possible to repair your brushcutter yourself, but in most cases, small repairs are within everyone’s power.

If the grass trimmer motor has broken, and you are not an auto mechanic or electrician, it is better not to try to repair the mechanism. There is a chance that you will not be able to assemble it back. The following problems are possible: low compression in the engine, the engine is jammed or the carburetor is defective. If these words do not tell you anything, you should not repair brushcutters by picture and intuition.

1) If the rocker switch is defective, you know how to read simple circuit diagrams, a soldering iron, linoleum jelly and solder, you can easily replace the rocker switch with a new one. They are sold in electrical stores and lighting equipment.

2) If the wire stop has fallen off the mowing head, you can wrap it with flexible copper or aluminum wire to the boom. You can also make a new attachment out of a strip of stainless steel.

3) If the trimmer line breaks in the cutter head reel, nothing is easier than replacing it yourself. You can of course just buy a brushcutter head separately and replace it, but trimmer lines are a hundred percent cheaper. The optimum material here is a 0.9 to 1.5 mm trimmer line, nylon or kapron. Measure the diameter of the line you are using right away, before it runs out completely. Thinner may tear, thicker causes motor overheating and unnecessary vibration. You must disassemble the reel and wind the trimmer line by hand, then reassemble the reel.

4) If a rod breaks, it can also be repaired by taping or gluing it to wooden strips or iron staples.

5) If the engine is starting to vibrate and is running rough, you may need to lubricate your brushcutter. Each trimmer is easy to dismantle and should be oiled at least once a year.

7) If the grass trimmer is equipped with plastic knives, and they are deformed for some reason, there is a way to replace them with metal ones. To do this, you need to make a few blades of stainless steel. It may be difficult to do this at home, but you can do it with a turner you know at an industrial facility or a factory. The blades are attached to the shaft with a sleeve with a washer. This improvement leads to the fact that the trimmer will be able to mow grass of any hardness. But caution when handling such a trimmer is worthwhile.

8) The engine does not start? In order to start the engine, sometimes even when it’s hot, you need to close the choke completely to enrich the mixture. Check gasoline intake, clean, replace glow plug if necessary.
